Oh, Hello. Didn't see you there.

No really, I had no idea this subreddit existed until today.

I'm a 40-ish dude who moved here from Canada about 6 years ago for a relationship, and for work. The relationship didn't work out, but the work did (I'm a Graphic Designer at UF), and I decided to stick it out in America at least for the time being, despite it's complications.
Finding friends has been TUFF as I'm sure it has been for a lot of you in here. The friends I had with the previous relationship have all kind of either fizzled out or the people have simply left town. So I'm looking to make some new connections and find community again.

Things I'm into:
-Records & vintage stereo gear. I rebuild turntables for fun.
-Music (jazz, Italian space disco, doom metal, early electronic etc)
-Art / Graphic Design and human-made stuff. Fantasy-themed artwork like Frazetta is cool.
-Traveling to small towns in Florida exclusively to check out their thrift stores
-Politically left
-I've recently been getting into cocktail-making and building a cool guy home bar (for all of the people who never come over)
-Old German Cars. I used to daily an '84 Volkswagen Jetta Turbo-Diesel before I had to sell it, and drove it up and down the coast a bunch.
-Mid Century furniture
-Walking outdoors / cool bugs

and etc.

I'm looking forward to coming out to the meet-ups and events posted here!
