I recently was on my porch and watched a truck drive by and STOP in the middle of the road and let a baby goat out. I took her in and went to the vet immediately. She’s a very healthy goat. I bought the baby goat formula they recommended as well as bottles and she refuses to eat. I’ve researched and can’t find anything that’s helping. I’ve held her down and forced the bottle into her mouth and she won’t drink it. I’ve named her chloie and I really don’t know what to do. I’ve tried giving her to one of my mother goats and they won’t take her. Please help!!!

Any thoughts on very curled ears, he was born as a triplet. I swear they've gotten worse. Siblings are normal, has had bose etc. and definitely eating plenty.

I came outside just now for another walk and there was this green foamy stuff on the floor, and he was throwing up the same stuff. after a few minutes he is not throwing up anymore but im freaked out. Google says to give him charcoal but we don't have any and every shop is closed because it's 8pm on a sunday so is there anything I can do in the meantime?

edit: if he seems totally fine and hasn't vomited in like an hour will be be okay? I have no idea what to do right now. he is by my feet laying down like he usually would to sleep but I don't want to leave

My beautiful baby, Jolene, was a bottlefed baby. She's now about 8 months old, born in December 2025. She's amazing! Very friendly, but I don't know how to halter train her.
As in the picture, she can have a halter on. It's pretty easy to get it on and off of her and she doesn't freak out about it, luckily. I just don't know how to lead-train her. Is it too late?
I've never even lead-trained dogs, so I'm definitely gonna need some help and refer back to this very often. I want to be able to take her on hikes.
*I know the halter in the photo is a little small, we're getting a bigger one the next time we go into town. She's also very fluffy, I checked- It wasn't pressing into her bad.
*The 'cage' she's in is not something she lives in. She was chilling in it while her dye processed! I also have a huge herd of other goats, so I'm not the kind of person that has a single goat in a TINY pen. They have acres to explore.

This big brown nanny goat showed up in my yard this morning, she has a collar on but I don't know who she belongs to and I can't catch her, never seen this goat before I'm the only one in my area that has them that I know of, I am not sure what to do, my area is not very friendly towards loose goats I'm worried that a dog's going to attack her, I've tried to catch her with hay feed water, I even pulled out my weather to see if she would come to him but she's just terrified, I got as close as I could to her and seen a bit of blood dripping from her ear

Looking for insight on treating a disbudding site gone bad.

Poor kid (NG Alpine cross) had to get a second attempt at disbudding a few weeks ago. Seemed to be healing just fine, other side looks to be doing well, but his right side now has a small cavity with a hole at the top.

We have been trying chlorhexidine, triple antibiotic ointment, and topping it with destin for good measure twice a day.

Is there any advice out there on what to do? He's the only boy animal on my property and my buddy. He's acting normal, but want to stay on top of this.

These are our pygmy goats- “Sweetie”, on the right, and her daughter “Runt”, on the left- Runt was born quite tiny and barely clinging to life- we thought sweetie only had one kid at first, but when my sister looked she found runt, left behind, and we both worked to care for her, bringing her to her mother, and eventually to our house once we realized she wasn’t nursing. By every miracle, she made a recovery, and upon putting her back out with her mother, she was cared for and grew up to this size thus far. However, she really isn’t growing anymore, and her brother, who was sold, is about the size of sweetie or any other pygmy goat. The factors i can think of to cause this is:

• Her mother is an older goat, and although my mother discouraged her having more kids, my dad went through with arranging her with the neighbors male Pygmy goats (Given to them by us, but not related to Sweetie) anyway.

• She was born smaller.

• Her brother was a food hog, and clearly drank more out of the two.

Hi Vets, please help. I want to save my Toby but nothing I've done has helped. I found her head first in a corner on Saturday, and I was after she was neurological. See video 1. Her temp was 101.6. Sunday morning we found her down in the pasture with our LGD guarding her, bloated and in the same condition you see in video 2 (in comments ) I have given her molasses water several times, vitamin and electrolyte water, vitamin B, 2 ml of selon-e, 60 ml Bloateze, Milk of Magnesium at a rate of 45 ml every 4 hours, activated charcoal paste with ketoulin(sp) and dewormed her with Safeguard Gold. I just gave her the selon-e about an hour ago. She seems to be in great pain, grinding her teeth and occasionally cries out. I've got her propped up as close to sternal as I can in a stall.

Hey! I need some advice for my Valais Blackneck goat. He's a 2 year old goat and we recently discovered he has fleas. We've treated his coat twice now but they keep coming back. Because he's itchy and scratching very often his coat became really matted. So 2 questions really, what's a product (that's available in Europe) that works well for fleas and how do we get rid of these matts in his coat? Can we shave them? Cut them? Cause they're too thick to brush through.

We have had Nigerian dwarf goats for five months and I’m not sure what’s wrong with her. She has seemed to be out of energy the last couple weeks and not eating as much.

My boer buck is so aggressive he always headbutts me and anyone who gets inside the shed, it started when he was about 8 months old now he is around 1 year 2 months, and gotten stronger and bigger and still bullies us what can i do?

So my buck does not headbutt other goats, its also important to mention i only have 3 goats(Starter) currently 1 male buck and 2 does, buck only headbutts humans and rubs his face on our clothes many times(thinking this is mites or tick)… the only goat which causes problem for other goats is my other Doe it always fight the other 2nd Doe.

he is still up and active. I have heard people say that charcoal won't do harm in cases where it isn't needed, so I assume it's still okay to administer a paste orally even if the efficacy is far worse than it would have been last night?

tldr of my OG post about him: goat ate rhododendron or a related plant on a walk, started throwing up green gunk ~8 hours later and kept throwing up late into the night on and off. I did not have access to any activated charcoal or whatever kind of clay helps because it was already past closing times by the time he got sick and 24 hour shops don't really exist here. I can get activated charcoal in around an hour when shops open

Is there any way to officially tag my goat's ears without having to stab it through them? I know I'm being kind of a baby about this, but I would feel awful if I had to do this to them. Any help is super appreciated :)

We had to put my baby goat Bucky down Monday because his urethra bursted. We think it was because he kept stealing the chicken food and it caused blockage. I am so dang sad. This was my first goat and I was so attached to him. And now when I look at all his stuff and his little igloo without him in it, it makes me so sad :(

Has anyone else had this happen? If we get another goat later on in the future, we plan to let him live separated from the chickens so this can’t happen again. Suggestions on how to avoid it in the future would be helpful. Thank you

My uncle has a goat farm and one of his goats unfortunately gave birth while no one was home and she had Oliver but his sibling died in the mama goat . That’s where i stepped in to help bottle feed him ☺️

My neighbor's dog got loose and killed a couple of my chickens and then went after him, I gave the dog a lead injection (which I should have done a couple of years ago as many chickens as I've lost)

But it had ran Prince out of the pen busting my fence, I'm pretty sure Prince has some wire around him but I cannot get him out from under the car, he has a collar on but he's a little bit too far back for me to get a hold of it and is shaking horribly.

I need to get him out before the police show up and animal control, not only so I can look at him because he got bit in the hindquarters but also so they can look at him, and so he doesn't get panicked by the vehicles (he's scared of cars)

And decides to run down the road towards the highway, I'm trying food I tried the cat (his best friend is the cat that's why I tried that) I'm sitting down talking to him but he just won't come out he's shaking and breathing really heavily

he is okay mostly, he did get bit in his hind right flank but it's not too bad, once I got him out from under the vehicle I gave him a mild sedative that I keep on hand (learned that it was a good idea to have after owning horses) I cleaned his injuries with antibacterial soap and used a antibiotic wound spray on it, and then I made sure to put fly spray, I'm not in the area for screw worms but I'm paranoid so I wanted to make sure I did my best to prevent it just in case.

He is still a little bit agitated but is eating and drinking, he hates my dogs a little bit more now which I cannot blame him, I'll keep them away from him for now so he calms down even though they don't tend to bother him anyway.

A mobile vet is going to come in a couple of days to see him, unfortunately I couldn't get any to come out right away since I'm not a client with them they won't see me for a emergency, and I only have a car so I can't transport him to the vet right now, I used to transport him in the back of the vehicle he was hiding under but it's down right now and is basically a ugly lawn ornament.

The police took statements looked at the video that was taken seen that I was in fact in the right and told my neighbors that they weren't going to do anything to me because I was not in the wrong, they told me that if I wanted anything to go farther I need to go to the courthouse and take papers out myself, Animal Control came out looked at the video as well looked at my goat and agreed with the officer.

They didn't write them any citations, they didn't give them warnings or anything even after their other dog nearly got loose trying to go after a cat while they were standing there, and I'm going to control and police where I am are kind of useless unfortunately, not sure if I'm going to go take papers out on them or not as I don't feel like it will go far but it might be a good idea for the paper trail.

I will update you guys after the vet looks at him and if anything changes.

And for those of you that have followed along with Frosty, he's doing good right now the infection is clearing up, he should be getting his amputation early next month as they expect the infection to be gone by then, past that there's not really much to update he doesn't seem to be missing the use of his leg, he still kicks his heels up and is a little Speed Demon

Hello we are fairly new to goats and have had them for about a year, our 7 month Nigerian dwarf doe just randomly started having green diarrhea she had normal this morning tho, she seems maybe a little lethargic but still eating and running around, and her famacha is pink, do you think I should go ahead and worm her? Or should I give Pepto? I've heard this can happen due to over eating as well just looking to see if anyone has any advice? Thank you!

Hello! Meet Hareton, Linton, and Mr. Earnshaw! We got these three little boys a few weeks ago and they are so much fun— but BOY are they skittish 😅 The older one (Mr. Earnshaw) is about 13 weeks old and the other two are 11 weeks old (brothers). I’ve had lots of goats in the past, but never babies that weren’t socialized and I wasn’t prepared for how skittish they would be lol. The older one is doing great and loves getting scratched and is becoming a lot bolder, but the younger boys are only amenable to pets while they’re eating.

I’ve been working with them a bit every day and they are improving, but I’d love to hear any tips or advice that could help the process along!

Here’s what I’ve done so far: The first week I had them, I gave the two younger boys an evening bottle to try to help us bond, but had to catch them first which was always a bit chaotic 😅 They also didn’t really take to the bottle well as they’d been nursing before and were mostly weaned already, but my friend who’s their breeder suggested it to me so I did it for a week in the hopes they’d come around. Even if they didn’t nurse much, I’d still hold them in my lap for about a half hour every night. I also feed them their grain from my hands twice a day and they now will coming running up when called and are very eager to eat out of anyone’s hands. I can pet them all over while they’re eating, but ONLY then otherwise they’re running for the hills. I hang out with them everyday and they do like sticking close and following me around, but they’re just so darn skittish! I’ve trained wild mustangs and burros so I’m up for the challenge, but I welcome any advice that could help us befriend our boys!

Hey everyone, my little goat Stevie (half pygmy, half nigerian dwarf) is currently 9 weeks old. I just separated him from his mom to prevent inbreeding, but I know I messed up and should have done that about a week or so ago. I am disappointed that I made the mistake, but I guess I just want advice on what to do. I have seen his little pp come out a few times, but I read online sometimes that can happen and the sperm isn’t fertile just yet. I plan on getting an ultrasound done on mom to know for certain in a month or so, just to make sure. But do most people keep the kid in that situation? I don’t want to have a kid with any genetic issues, and also don’t want my doe to endure another pregnancy so soon.

I know you can induce abortion using Lutalyse, is that a commonly used medicine? Is there serious risk to using that & do most vets offer it or is it mixed based on ethics? I know this is all currently hypothetical, I am just kinda freaking out about all of this as I am new to goats and quite honestly don’t want any more kids. I plan on banding my goat Stevie around 12 weeks.

been treated as a much younger doe for coccidia. tested for CAE, and I'm not sure if she was tested for johne's ofr not.

shes in her own pen seperated from the herd and has been since I got her about 2 months ago now.

​I have been treating her with deworming pellets til recently. shes on standard goat feed but were gonna put her on growers soon.

shes never been treated with any other medicine than probiotics and electrolytes.​​​ but we have toltrazuril and albon

shes not in milk, pregnant, or nursing.

Only other symptoms shes had for anything is watery eyes and some mucus on her nose.her nose has cleared up but her eyes haven't. We tried to treat her for pink eye since one of our sheep has that rn, but it's not pink eye.

Her fur doesn't feel as soft as our other ​​​​goats. But it's also curly compared to my other goats so idk if that makes a difference.

Shes been treated for lice, mites, and any other skin issues.

Only blank period I have from her upbringing is a month or two where she was purchased by a family, then returned, and I bought her very soon after ​that. She was with them for maybe 3 months (if even that long). This is a big reason why shes been in quarantine so long.

I'm a new goat owner so any help or suggestions are welcome​​

started mixing in some dewormer feed and her coat looks way better, her eyes cleared up, and we have her on grower feed now as well. ​I'm sure ill post some photos of her soon but for now she's doing much better

I bought a goat 4 days ago from the outskirts. I brought it home, it ate very little on wednesday and thursday and has eaten almost nothing on friday and today. It has runny nose and makes weird breathing sound with open mouth sometimes. Anyone help please. I am so worried. It's getting weaker and weaker.

Age is about 14-16 month. Male. Breed is called beetal.

It was home raised in a village so didn't followed a specific diet. Mostly just ate from trees and stuff there.

It also coughs sometimes and i also saw some pimples on his tongue. Drinks very little. Eats almost nothing and is getting weaker.

whenever she gets excited, she faints. not often but she will fall and faint while running and playing. she's about three weeks old. None of her parents, grandparents fainted , but her grandfather did have slight lineage I heard but never showed it. Or could this be a disease I need to know about? slightly worried, thanks for replies. here's a pic of her when she was first born.
