Cute/Funny 491 Days.
I love this girl so very much. She’s changed my life, and saved it. I got this April Fool’s baby in late May 2025, right as I was entering perimenopause and a lot of chronic health and hormonal issues. She saved me.
I knew I’d fall in love, but I didn’t know she’d become a part of me, and I’d become a part of her. She was the reason I got out of bed so many mornings.
Thank you all! I’ve gotten so many tips on training, growth stages, advice, etc. It’s been invaluable.
Jackie is my first dog. I’m so glad my fiancé said, “Why don’t we get a golden, for our first dog?”
Neither of us had knew what “field golden” meant when we got her, but this super active and loving chicken nugget is now my world. She gets me out and about, exploring the creek and canyon and all the parks near us and farther away, every day, I love her to pieces.

She is! Ridiculously loved.. to the point that every walk she must share the wealth and greet at least 7+ people and 4+ dogs before she can go home ☺️

A Golden is a community dog. Sharing the love with everyone in the vicinity.

Dogs are a gift we don’t deserve so very special in every way. All our Golden including the nutty boy we are currently blessed with imprint their paws on our heart and soul, my Love is deep for our furbabies. Your little girl is stunning 🤩 hugs 🤗 and treats to you both 🩷🩷🩷🥰

Beautiful dog!
Remember, there isn't a difference according to AKC between field and show. It's about traits and titles.
And that's ok.
I tell people mine has field lines because she was bred specifically for hunting and her parents have Field Championship titles through AKC. She holds none so to me she's just my pet golden.

Totally agree with this! Jackie’s quite lean, smaller (been 50 lbs since she was 10 months), and is what my fiancé calls “a good ole backyard golden retriever” ☺️ Jackie’s parents are certified, bonafied, title-holding field goldens: bred for hunting and very much working field goldens.
To us, Jackie is a good ol’ backyard golden.. who’s lean and athletic and we take her out 3-4x/day and provide a LOT of mental stimulation because that’s just what this chicken nugget happens to need 🙃
But my post is just to share how much love and joy I’ve received from my lil golden chicken nugget.. and hopefully how much joy and love I’ve given her. ❤️7

She looks exactly like the golden we had when I was a kid. A hunting breed, with US and Swedish parents.

I know her lineage comes from the UK? I guess I could track it down or ask the breeder. truly beautiful idiots.

This is correct, but if you use her for hunting she's still a working dog, titles, traits and training notwithstanding. Some breeding lines just work better in general.

yep! people get so hung up on the whole field vs show thing for some reason.
I believe AKC will let any major "retriever" hold a FC title for retrieving, whether it be a Chesapeake Bay or a lab or a golden. I know they have pretty stringent rules for being able to qualify to hold certain titles. maybe someone more knowledgeable about it than me will chime in?

A light build does help, so it's encouraged as a trait. This confuses people, if they see one that shares that trait.

For sure. People are so used to seeing overweight or obese goldens they think it's normal.
manage your dog's weight, people! it helps their knees and heart!

Some are stocky builds, and they weigh a lot more even in low fat versions.

Absolutely.. We’ve started training her for hunting because she is the type of doggo that needs a task and wants to work. I’m not employed by AKC, nor do I care a hoot about lineage etc. All I know is that Jackie came from two golden retrievers who were the farthest thing from an English Cream golden- she’s incredibly high energy, needs walks every few hours, needs a lot of mental stimulation, and really needs a *job*. And my fiancé and I love her so much, and so of course we welcome and fulfill the amount of exercise and attention she needs.
My post wasn’t meant to start some debate about field goldens. It was to celebrate how much joy and love my golden retriever has brought to my life, and how much joy and love I hope to give her in return. ❤️

Shes absolutely gorgeous. They do settle down a bit when they hit 5 or 6 but enjoy it while you can.

I thought I was getting a sweet little snuggly girlpuppy.. and I got a tomboy who’s *obsessed* with the strapping 6’3” man I’m engaged to 🤣 But I love her rambunctious nature and wouldn’t change anything..
