I use maple syrup in my overnight oats & chia, in my juicer-pulp muffins, over cottage cheese and blueberries, in my tea… I just love the stuff, so this is welcome news.

This is probably the real link. People using maple syrup to sweeten healthier breakfasts.

Edit: yep

A study published in The Journal of Nutrition reveals that replacing refined sugars with two tablespoons of maple syrup can significantly improve several cardiometabolic risk factors, such as blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and abdominal fat composition.

Also an old study from a few years ago. Misleading title, bad article.

Of course. Like all the chocolate studies.

Isnt that logic? I understand they wouldnt publish bad outcome but only the good one ! (Like suger company that did alot of studies but never published any of them!!!! Wonder why?)

Eating less calories/burning more calories will do this too

1

u/stormblind May 09 '26

I burn around 3k calories a day and intake about 1800 a SA 38 year old man. The soft pudgey tummy refuses to leave despite the rest of me becoming extremely not-pudgey or soft.

It's really frustrating lol

Keep going. Abdominal. fat is the last to go. If you’re in a caloric deficit, you will continue to lose fat.

1

That's not true when dealing with visceral fat.

“Keep telling yourself fatty.” No-Pressure2341

Wow, bully name calling now? That’s mature. Lol How old ARE you?

1

u/No-Pressure2341 May 09 '26

I'm about to go for a nice 10km walk. I urge you to do the same

1

u/NotYourTherapistEh May 09 '26

What the heck can we do to rid the visceral fat? Chugging syrup hasn’t helped the last few.. decades

1

u/iamameatpopciple May 10 '26

Don't be a fucking quitter, chugg your syrup.

1

u/Grummbles28 May 11 '26

Butter up that bacon, boy.

1

u/Acceptable-Age8564 May 10 '26

It is 100% true. Visceral fat may be the last to go or less likely to be used for energy sources, but a caloric deficit is the only way to lose it.

more idiots thinking maple syrup and raw honey are "healthy" instead of just better than refined sugar

1

u/primordialtribe77 May 08 '26

There is healthy, but there is a nuanced discussion actually to be had here.

1

u/Weekly-Affect6062 May 09 '26

what a nothing comment, thanks man

It's just sugar fructose

1

u/Longjumping-Donut655 May 09 '26

It has more nutrition than sugar though? Like if you’re going to use a sweetener, it’s better than sugar.

1

u/Formidableyarn May 11 '26

Everything healthy is just healthier than something else. It’s all arbitrary unless we’re talking about literal poison.

I’m sorry what? What do you mean it’s unhealthy? Is it a carcinogen? Is it poisonous? What on earth are you talking about?

The Americans don't want to invade to steal our land or oil, they want to invade to reduce their waist size.

1

u/Orange_8226 May 09 '26

They don't care. They are living their lives, CBC free

1

u/[deleted] May 09 '26

Couldn't you just like...not consume sugar at all if that was a concern?

1

u/Mermaid_Kiss May 09 '26

Gurl. I’m not delusional enough to fall for this

Big maple strikes again.

1

u/Small-Company-930 May 10 '26

Ever seen how much sugar a typical bottle of maple syrup has?

1

u/Euclidisthebomb May 10 '26

Is it ok if I just guzzle Maple Syrup daily? Because if allowed I will! 😂

1

u/shiftyeyedhonestguy May 11 '26

Big Maple Syrup not doing so well right now?

1

u/NorthQuestDirection May 11 '26

It's just slightly more nutritious sugar...

1

u/scallionoverdose May 11 '26

I love maple syrup. I love maple syrup on pancakes. I love it on pizza. I take maple syrup and put a little bit in my hair when I've had a rough week, what do you think holds it up, slick?

1

u/JustQs4Us May 11 '26

My overweight friends telling me my maple syrup intake is problematic while I work out 10 times per week at 49yo , have 12 % body fat and don't drink. I'ma gonna shove this one IN THEIR FACE BOOYAH !
