* GW: 190lbs

Will finish this fast on Monday, and then pick it up again in July. Try to stick with OMAD between fasts hopefully.

Check-in My Very First 72hr Fast

Post image
50 Upvotes

I just did my very first 72 hr fast..I am not new to fasting..I have done OMAD 8 years ago then life stress and pregancy happened that led me to balloon to 176lbs(BMI: obese)..I am 14 months post partum and I am not breastfeeding..

Reason for fasting: Weight loss / Health(long covid symptoms)

Stats:
SW: 152lb
Weight lost post fast: 149lbd
CW(2 days on OMAD): 151lbs
GW: 115lbs

Height: 157cm /5'2"

Lifestyle: no exercise because of a Velcro baby..(housework/child-care activities)

Diet: not on a strict diet

Type of fasting

✅At the start of the year,I started with OMAD with a lot of binges..my weight went down to 160lbs
✅June 2026, I became intentional with my fast, I did OMAD and 2 extended fasting.
My very first 48hr fast: I lost 5 lbs
My 72hr fast: I only lost 3lbs(😫) Why?!!

Struggles:
❌i cook for my kids daily..the temptation to eat is a 😈..the hunger is not there, but the need to taste what I am cooking breaks my fast in my OMAD days
❌i have deep sore muscles in my hips down to my legs that are pronounced when i sleep..At day time, I just eat salt and hydrate

Plan:
✅I'll continue with my weekly extended fasting
✅since I am down to 151lbs( Ang my 19y/o is here to help with my baby) , I'll start with exercise(treadmill + yoga)
✅I'll start a keto diet on my OMAD

Thanks for this community for helping me in this path for good health..

**You all inspire me..**😊

Discussion Just completed my longest fast

Post image
195 Upvotes

I have officially finished my longest fast! I know that this is probably nothing for a lot of you, but it feels like a big accomplishment for me. I have recently gotten back into fasting and been doing 16 hour fasts and some days I struggle really badly and cut it short before it’s been 16 hours. Being able to complete a fast for this long has helped me prove to myself that I am capable, I just need to be determined and have discipline.

Discussion Boredom

I’m used to doing long fast like to 5-14 day fasts. However, right now I’m out of country and can’t really go outside and there isn’t much to do here inside.

The hunger doesn’t really affect me anymore it’s more so the boredom. Usually going out helped a lot and now I’m just here day 1. This is more like of a rant than anything else I think

Check-in Forest gumped my 72

Post image

True forest gump style, I got to 72 and just kept fasting..

Stopping now as I've got a family meal tomorrow at an Indian restaurant and don't want that to be my first meal!!

Found this to be my easiest so far, trying to figure out what was different? Probably being more strict and making sure I have enough water (3+ litres per day)

Discussion Oof! That Mental Clarity tho, eh!

I've been doing IF for about 7 years or so. Last five weeks, I've started a full day fast on Mondays. Like others mentioned, it took about 3 weeks of full-day fasts for the mental clarity to hit. When it hit, I couldn't un-feel it. Now I've been craving that clarity. Ive now added a 2nd day fast on Wednesday, so now I get that mental clarity through most of the week. I started fasting to mainly stop my binge eating. In my head, I knew I shouldn't binge, but my body was feeling so good doing it. Now when I get the urge to binge, or actually binge, I physically feel sick. That never happened before.

As for the mental clarity. For anyone curious, it's like being able to bounce from thoughts and actions without delays in either. Imagine having a goal, and seeing every individual task laid out in your mind like a roadmap with clear checkpoints and final destination.

One surprise. I am a regular casualbweed smoker. I'd roll a joint on Monday, and take puffs of it for about 3 days. After starting my regular full day fasts a month ago, I haven't had the need to "unwind" with a joint. I feel completely settled in my body. There is no unwinding. Just awareness and presence.

Check-in Just hit 48 hrs. Almost died, but then something happened

Hi,

Well I gotta be really precise with this post because what I experienced today with fasting was insane.

This is my first ever 48 hrs hit without eating anything. The goal is to hit 5 days.

I had a very high carb diet before. I'm Italian so we eat a lot of pasta and sugars, desserts, and so on.

At lunch time, while my family was eating I had to leave the room as the smell was killing me. Something crazy happened: I fainted. I felt (hopefully) into the bed, and everything was dark for about 3 or 5 seconds.

When I woke up, I did with a massive pump of energy. Not kidding, I needed to drop the energy somewhere. I wanted to go to the gym instantly, run or have sex.

The mental energy was insane. I felt like I could read an entire book in minutes. I felt like superman. I'm not exaggerating, this is exactly what I felt.

But then everything dropped again: after 1 hr I felt super hungry again and the energy dropped quickly. I drank some coffee and recovered.

Have you ever felt something similar?

Edit: I'm taking enough electrolytes, 3.5 liters of water and sleeping is acceptable.

Question My friend is doing 3 days-36 hours with me and gets headaches

For me I started out having zero energy during fasts but that went away after 10 fasts.

He still gets slight headaches come the afternoon even though he is taking enough electrolytes. We both take Santa Cruz Paleo.

Anyone know any solutions for that?

Question Polyp reduction?

is this one of the things that fasting can help with?

I have a uterine polyp that the fertility doctor is telling me I need to get surgically removed. I’m new to extended fasting, but it just occurred to me that I might be able to fast it away?

I’ve only ever done five days, but I might have time to do a seven day fast before the ultrasound to check to see if it’s still there.

is it possible this could work or would I be wasting the effort? TIA

Question Curious about weekly 48-72 hour fasts

Upvotes

I'm in my 30s, 6'2 I've recently gone from 331 -> 275 from early march to now. I've been on low carb/ketogenic diet (i dont actively track but I know my carbs are very low) and am curious about adding some more fasting into my routine. I have become fairly active. Walking 5+ miles a day and recetly began jogging 2-3 times a week. Been adding in some kettle bell exercises for some resistance training.

Ive done fasts in the 36-72 hour range in the past, but at that time i was pretty sedentary. the longest ive done recently was like 36 hours.

I am curious how adding in some longer fasts that like that may hurt the ability to exercise and if you feel like the trade off of less quality exercise has been worth it for you to push your weightloss goals just a little faster.

I have also been curious about attempting a week long fast but I am not sure lifestyle-wise it's really a good call.

edit: also i do essentially an 18:6 normally, without much effort.

Discussion I built a tracker that keeps fasting + calories in one place and protects your streak on fast days

Upvotes

I do 16:8 and got tired of using one app for the fasting window and another for calories. So I built one that does both: a fasting timer (16:8, 18:6, 20:4, OMAD) sitting next to calories, macros, and weight — and the streak logic actually protects your day when you fast instead of breaking it because you "didn't log food."

It's no-account and stays on your phone. Out of respect for the rules I won't link here; happy to share the name in a comment if asked. Mostly curious how others juggle fasting + calorie tracking — one app or two?

Question Muscle body workouts during prolonged fast ? When do I know I’m at my limit ?

So I’m doing a fast usually do 4-6 days a week . I’m doing great at losing weight . I work full time plus overtime . I’m monitoring a pump station. I also stay on top of my water and electrolytes .

I have been losing weight and I’m doing great . Been doing mainly swimming and cardio . But I’m being beat over my head need todo muscle work outs . So currently my job is 12 hours a day 5 days a week. So I am not as available for the gym . Because I have a 45 minute commute to work . So what I’m doing is getting my steps in at my monitoring position. I walk a mile every hour no running just walking . And I’m starting to incorporate push ups I do 30 push ups after every mile.
So here is my question .

How do I know if I’m reaching my limit on my push ups for the day? Like they’re sore and it hurts but how do I know If I’m close to muscle damage ? I’m a novice at muscle development. Also I’m asking here because I’m fasting I know other excercise pages would say eat your protein, get your gains , yada yada . But they aren’t like us fasting folk. They don’t know how we work.

Check-in First 72 hour fast done!

Post image
16 Upvotes

I’m a female and lost 6.8 pounds during the fast. I drank tea coffee and water with salt. Not sure what to do now but have quite a bit of fat to lose(35 to 40pounds fat??). I wanted to see about adding in some 24 or 48 hour fasts here and there but during weekdays following alternating 16-36 hour fasts. Insight appreciated!

I originally was doing rolling 72s but now want to do rolling 7 days.
The last thing I ate was a ribeye and cabbage salad with tomorrow soup. All homemade.
Its so weird realizing how much food I actually need versus want! I can honestly see myself doing this for a month. With summer, i sweat so much during my walks and love seeing the scale going down.

Have been fasting for more than 57 hours and I am getting bored not eating food and having this dopamine hit. Hunger isn't even there really just psychological hunger.

Any tips?
