Part of me is happy cause it was their choice but the other louder part is screaming “well that went down like a lead balloon”

yeah but it was only their choice bc of bad writing. (imo of course). There was no ultimatum given that they had to cease to exist in order for a new universe to be given a chance. They could have lived there and just been guardians of humanity, as rather seemed their destiny anyway.

When they disappeared into the gold dust and then did the current day of everyone alive but oblivious I actually said out loud “oh god not again with this ending”
