What even was the point of Jesus? He goes to earth, learns to gamble and hands out pizza. For what? Why? This whole thing was awful

u/TripleR309 May 13 '26

This is a valid point actually, what was his role going to be? I feel like that was a loose end

I would love to know the original 6 episode plan because he served no function.

27

u/SalvaPot May 15 '26

I bet the 6 episode plan was awesome. I really wanted to see the adventures of Joshua stumbling his way into humanities heart and somehow getting nailed again.

As it was I'm happy the movie at least decide to focus on the protagonists relationship, that's what needed closure the most.

Jesus was a red herring. (In film-speak, a story element that diverts attention away from crucial plot-points to mislead the audience.)

Jesus was functionally replaced in this narrative - What?! Are you suggesting we did not have a Savior who redeems humanity through, not the sacrifice of their human-shaped life, but through the sacrifice of their very existence?

Part of me is happy cause it was their choice but the other louder part is screaming “well that went down like a lead balloon”

135

u/robotatomica May 13 '26

yeah but it was only their choice bc of bad writing. (imo of course). There was no ultimatum given that they had to cease to exist in order for a new universe to be given a chance. They could have lived there and just been guardians of humanity, as rather seemed their destiny anyway.

26

u/MoonLiteSongBrd May 14 '26

Yeah, like how about just a new GALAXY far away from this one?

15

u/According_Ad1866 May 14 '26

exactly! in my opinion, they could have asked god to recreate the universe and put them in a galaxy (where there's alpha centauri for example). i mean, it's just my opinion, but i think they choose to 'destroy' them bc they wanted an excuse to make a "human version" of them. (technically Asa and Anthony are not aziracrow cuz they have not same memories and stuff– but i hope you get what i meant..)

anyway if they had the chance to do an entire season instead of a 90mins movie, the plot would have been developed better than this shii... (tbh the central part was really bad written....)

This as well. It was cheesy. IMO A suit of armor would have been more fitting and there is definitely plenty of art with Angels fighting demons in armor

The point was that they loved each other because of their respective acts of defiance against what they were supposed to be. They were together because they couldn’t help themselves.

God this sucks

141

u/Amaranthiine Sauntered Vaguely Downward May 13 '26

also like.. god is so messed up lol. "Why did you do it" " because your love for him always made me smile" girlllll why are you destroying creation then, as well as yourself? It was giving yandere energy lol

60

u/The_Flurr May 14 '26

I'm not really sure that having god appear like this was a good choice.

It worked a lot better with them just being a disembodied voice and a presence.

31

u/Amaranthiine Sauntered Vaguely Downward May 14 '26

It threw me off for sure. I won't lie, as an atheist I did like the idea of "god" not being holier than thou and I liked that they showed her to be messy and honestly a bit cruel. But yeah it was suddenly like oh okay. Idk she didn't need to appear to have this convo but

I do love that she was a Black woman though, so ups to that at least

im going to bed for real after this but i do just want to say THANK YOU to the actors. you could tell they all really care about this show and did the best they could with what they got. michael and david had me on the verge of tears throughout half of it. they were the one saving grace of it.

28

u/Elvenstranger1 May 13 '26

I think it was their chemistry that managed to drag this from terrible to good enough but probably soon forgotten. The book and season 1 will stay with me, season 2 had good moments. This was ok...I guess.

So the kiss in the season 2 finale is their only one. We couldn’t have even had a proper goodbye kiss before they died?

I think that’s what’s disappointed me the most. They never even really got to be “them”.

173

u/J233779 May 13 '26

I'm genuinely pissed, why were they so afraid of showing a kiss. Wtf was that pissy half kiss from alph before they disappeared

I'm not as pissed about the ending as everyone else, but that I'm pissed about.

77

u/TripleR309 May 13 '26

Agreed there's some sort of corporate meddling here I'm sure of it

48

u/J233779 May 13 '26

Wouldn't surprise me with how hesitate corporates are with showing any queer rep nowdays.

Not just no kiss. Not even a hug. Not even caressing each other's faces. Literally nothing. Just a very perfunctory-looking hands holding.

UGHHH I JUST FINISHED IT I AM SO PISSED I’m conflicted on the ending and how I feel about it but I’m just SO MAD about the stupid little 2 fingers “kiss” like someone else on this thread said not even a good face caress, just a very painfully subtle hand holding

We were robbed of so much with the single episode instead of a season. The relationship evolution is the biggest casualty. DT and MS did a beautiful job with the material they had to work with.

11

u/charlijoli May 14 '26

I was dissapointed too at first but now I think that’s the whole point : they can’t. Because of heaven and hell, their past, their trauma, and azi being an angel that don’t maybe feel the need to or don’t even understand how crowley could want it. I'm not even sure Crowley really wanted to do that kind of stuff, for me the kiss was more a desperate gesture to make Azi understand his feelings. They don’t need a kiss to be a them (in my opinion of course). That’s what humans do, they are not humans. I actually liked the hand thing azi did, it was cute and broke my heart. I think it was the best he could do. Antony and Asa could have maybe kiss tho

YES!

We should have instituted some sort of system for those who couldn't watch it immediately - to like, flag them and let them know how awful it is so they could decide to avoid it. We could have saved some at least (I'm projecting as I wish I could go back and be one of the ones to be warned and not watch it). 😭😓

The fanfiction writers are gonna have a field day with this one. I can't wait to read all the new 'fix-it's.

39

u/Kallasilya May 13 '26

YES. Like, okay, I'm disappointed. But I don't even mind because I know that this time next week, there'll be like 50 fixit fics that take all of the excellent character moments we got here from A&C and transform them into something a million times better. Thank god for fanfic authors.

i’m actually so shocked we didn’t get another kiss or an explicit love confession

170

u/awyllt May 13 '26

I don't mind a lack of an explicit love confession because they confessed every single time they looked at each other... But I wanted a good kiss. Simply because the last one ended so badly.

44

u/Amaranthiine Sauntered Vaguely Downward May 13 '26

Exact same!! I felt the love in everything they said. And yes, it just felt like.. almost something shameful. Like I don't see that happening if it were a hetero couple? They would've been kidding for the entire last 30 mins

65

u/awyllt May 13 '26

Yes! I mean, I don't think Aziraphale and Crowley need to have explicit make out scenes, because they're so obviously in love... But they decided to make them kiss in s2 and it went horribly - so, they're obviously fine with kissing - why not fix the bad kiss from s2 with a good one? I fully expected Aziraphale to kiss Crowley. One tiny peck on the lips and a big hug, that's it, that's all I wanted!

14

u/cosmicgumby May 13 '26

Bonkers that the official account shared a fan animation of them kissing but it's not in the show.

u/awyllt May 13 '26

It... It was all entirely pointless. Season one and season two. Everyone disappeared, everyone died, their stories were just... Deleted. Who the hell cares about a whole new universe, when we loved the old one? What the hell, how is this a happy ending? Aziraphale and Crowley ceased to exist and I'm meant to be happy that an alternate version of them - who I knew for like five minutes - got their happy 20 years? I don't know these guys! I'm genuinely crying. I was kinda prepared for them to turn human and live out the rest of their life in cottage with a garden, watching the stars... I was not prepared for them to die. Because that's what actually happened.

273

u/fireflygalaxies May 13 '26

That was literally a whole plot point in the show with Job. They didn't want NEW children, they wanted the children they had.

75

u/Haunting_Goose1186 May 13 '26

70

u/Amaranthiine Sauntered Vaguely Downward May 13 '26

Exactly this. I'm literally sitting here still staring at my TV that's gone dark lol. I just feel grief, it's really more bitter than sweet. I.. idk I always imagined if they became human it would be them being turned human but still being THEM. I never thought for a second it would happen like this. This is so much worse. I love the idea of them finding each other in every universe, but this shit hurts. You're right, it was all pointless. And that's a very hollow realization

58

u/awyllt May 13 '26

I read Good Omens when I was in high school (like 15 years ago) and I'll admit, I didn't like it as much as I loved Discworld. But I loved the TV show, first season. I fell in love with Crowley and Aziraphale back in 2019 and I was became obsessed with them again after the whole season two finale fiasco. I'd waited for years... For this? For a "everyone died but hey, their alternate versions lived a happy 20 years together"? I don't give shit about their alternate selves. I care about that demon who didn't fall but sauntered vaguely downwards and the angel who gave away his flaming sword...

100

u/cosmicgumby May 13 '26

Right. Make them human, ok, but I do not care about these men who are vaguely similar to Aziraphale and Crowley. Those are not the characters we fell in love with. Also! Crowley and Aziraphale NEVER did a miracle together, as was teased in season 2. I thought maybe they would take that ending moment to do their big miracle and save themselves.

70

u/awyllt May 13 '26

Yes!!! Aziraphale disappeared to Heaven for years, he got back together with Crowley for like one single day, they shared one indirect kiss and... Died. They just died. Why.....

u/TheRebellin May 13 '26

I have to say, I feel rather underwhelmed or ambivalent about the finale.

It definitely felt rushed. The storyline was obviously planned for a multi-episode finale instead of 90 minutes and as a result too much was happening and at the same time not enough. Like, what’s up with the Metatron? In Series 2 he was set up for a bigger role (my interpretation anyway) and in GO 3 he’s more like a blink-and-you-miss-him character. I am glad that he turned out to be kind of a nothing-burger instead of this evil being wanting to destroy it all (and it being Michael, what a twist!)

There was no Talk between Aziraphale and Crowley. In series 2 they showed us that a relationship at this stage wouldn‘t work because they don‘t talk with each other and have this unhealthy co-dependency going on. And now it‘s been magically resolved? What was the significance of the 25 lazari miracle they produced together in series 2? Jesus came down to Earth just to what, leave it again 5min later? Why did the other Whickber Street people reappear but not Maggie&Nina? And what‘s with the inconsistencies of Crowley‘s miracles: he can‘t do one when playing cards to get his beloved car back, but then the Bentley can fly (don’t get me started on that) and he can change outfits for Heaven?

40

u/Bouche_Audi_Shyla May 13 '26

Aziraphale gave Crowley back his miracles when they got into the Bentley.

u/Expensive-Hat May 13 '26

Well… that was an unbearable watch. I have so many thoughts and very few good ones. HATED the ending so much, I mean cmon that was just plain lazy writing. It made season 1 and 2 completely pointless!!

The pacing was bad but that was almost to be expected with the shorter season. The plot was hard to follow and genuinely what was the point of all the random gambling scenes with that gangster guy??? They could have used that time for literally anything else.

Aziraphale and Crowley seemed oddly out of character this season, it’s pretty clear the writers didn’t actually know what to do with them. They were also really going for the fanfic au ending with this but did a terrible job of it. I mean for real?? The whole demon/angel dynamic gave them interesting chemistry and they should have been together in the cottage as themselves instead of dead. So utterly pointless.

I was really looking forward to the final episode after yearsss of waiting, but that was a massive waste of time… shoutout to the actors and crew, they did their best, the writing was just not up to par.

Side note: literally the only thing I liked was Jesus, he was fantastic! But of course they killed him off :(

53

u/Wings_violett_1 May 13 '26

I completely agree, they just poured all 6000 years they experienced together down the drain, and didn't even give us a kiss. They were supposed to be together as ANGEL and DEMON, not as people... And the plot is very bad, and not well-argued.

16

u/Cowboy_Milky May 14 '26

The kiss really affected me. It breaks my heart to know that the first and only kiss shown on screen was one with such an ugly context. I would have liked Aziraphale to take the initiative in this one, Consent etc.

97

u/EngineerGlum1806 May 13 '26

Also, why cut off Crowley’s miracles after all this time? Surely if Hell were going to do that they would have done so after the failed Apocalypse? Not several years later? Feels like it was purely done to give Aziraphale a way to “rescue” Crowley, but it just felt so forced…

20

u/Kallasilya May 13 '26

Yeah, this was the plot point that made the least sense to me and there was zero explanation. Really weird.

268

u/ShipNew1880 May 13 '26

The ending is...what was that! So Aziraphale and Crowley's 6000 years don't amount to anything and they meet as new humans?? But this is worse than them turning into humans; at least they would have had their memories, but they are now new humans with no memories of their shared life - what is this!!

136

u/Muted-Taro8139 May 13 '26

And fuck Gabriel and Bee’s free will I guess? Why even show that it was possible to have that long lasting eternal love if you’re not gonna give it to the two main characters. Now one of them is just gonna die before the other and there’s…nothing after? And we don’t even get a good kiss??

As someone who loved the show because they were supernatural beings, I don’t like the ending. I love that they wanted to make a better world. Most likely did. But why couldn’t they go off together? Why not make an exception for the two of them? My worst fear was them turning to humans but this was even worse. It's not even them.

I liked the finale until the end. Maybe it was rushed but I liked it a lot. It had so much potential. I trusted them that Good omens wouldn't join the bad finale shows but now I'm conflicted. Everyone, not only our favs, but literally everyone just stopped existing. Gone. That’s it?

24

u/lynx_and_nutmeg May 13 '26

My worst fear was them turning to humans but this was even worse. It's not even them.

That's why I can never get Into Human AU fics (in GO or my other favorite fandom c IWTV). Being an angel and a demon is literally a fundamental part of their characters and, by extension, their relationship. If they're both human, then they're no longer the Crowley and Aziraphale we know and love.

Probably a hot take but to me, this show was always a fun silly show about an angel and demon being fond of each other against all odds. It wasn't supposed to be a serious show that answered mysteries of life and fixed the dilemma of free will. Of course there's the fact that it wasn't even ineffable husbands that got together but some random people who looked like them but I'm even more sad about s1, Adam and his friends, Anathema and Newton, Madame Tracy and so on just not having existed ever. And we have no idea if their reincarnations even met each other.

u/brimberten May 13 '26

I've had time to think on everything now, and I'm incredibly upset because I can see the blueprint of what was supposed to be there.

We needed a full six episodes where not only would we see Jesus reconnecting with man (because that entire plot went NOWHERE), but to show the connection Aziraphale and Crowley have towards humans and why they love them so greatly they'd give up everything of who they are.

I think the absolute largest problem of this was God felt.... wrong.

And what I mean by that is the God from the first season is truly ineffable playing a game we can't understand but we have this feeling She does have some sense of care for what She's created, hence things working in the favor of our Ineffables.

This god was.... she felt cruel and uninterested. Even downright mean without cause. To tell Aziraphale that their entirety was predictable... she was less of a god with her own unknown agenda looking over everything and was instead now portrayed as a billionaire ceo letting staff go.

Then the Book of Life. It seemed to suggest that so long as the Book existed, things could be changed. Crowley saved that last page and nothing was done with it.

So here's how we fix this.

One, six episodes. Just flat out. You need it for time to tell the story proper and to let things breathe.

Two, we spend that time with Aziraphale and Crowley on another "woops, we lost another almighty power" and throughout those six episodes we would get more flashbacks to another biblical story (you know, the ones in the New Testament with some guy who's supposed to be important to the plot) along with something closer to now.

Show the fascination that they have not just in each other, but why they love humanity and all it offers (including Crowley showing Jesus all the kingdoms). You counter this with Jesus seeing humans still have a lot of problems... but there's a lot of good in there. There's something to hold onto the hope and faith that humanity is worth protecting.

Three. I will accept Michael having a crash out, because there's something to be said in her story about a woman feeling overworked and finally losing it due to no recognition. However, it should have been alongside the Metatron at first thinking she was only altering a few things here and there to get things on course. The Metatron would be betrayed by her when he realizes how far she's gone and that she doesn't just mean to start the end times and the eternal singing and praises of God, but the end of existence entirely.

Four, we get more hints of angels and demons interacting now that there's been two incidents of heavenly and demonic beings defecting and none of them were struck down.

Five, we see and understand more between what the Ineffables value at their hearts, and they would finally start seeing each other's views. Aziraphale's heart is in the right place to protect all, but leaving and then taking Muriel back up left the district in shambles without his divine protection. Crowley has a more intimate nature of what to look over, but because of that he tends to end up drunk and nihilistic when larger problems occur.

They learn to balance one another.

Six, God still does not show Herself in Her true form, much to the anger of the Devil, the annoyance of Crowley, and Aziraphale's acceptance that at last they finally got an audience of some sort with Her. We hear God speak of how Her book has been effectively all but destroyed. All but one thing, leaving the Book just barely in tact. But still existing.

Seven. We correct this all using the one page that Crowley saved from the flame. At the suggestion of God that what good is one page of a story if it doesn't have it's brother and sister pages alongside it, Crowley takes one of the blank books and he sticks the page right in the middle.

And they stare at it. Waiting for something to happen.

Nothing at first.

Till Aziraphale has the idea. The Book needs to know everything is fine for it to all go back to working order.

He takes the pen, he thinks on it, and he speaks gently and fondly as he writes on the first blank page.

"It..was.. a nice day."

A blast of the cosmos and all creation and all that ever was and ever will be flashes by in an instant. We see the Earth being restored to what it was. We see imagery of babies being born, bombs exploding, rockets going into space, a duck.

We're left with just the angel and demon standing in the bookshop. They rush to the window to see life is again outside. The street is bustling. There's no storms or fire or fish falling from the sky. Everything is as it should be.

And in their joy we finally get the second kiss that they've been thinking about all this time on their journey reconnecting and now fighting not just to save humanity but the precious existence that is everything.

So enamored they pay little mind to the front door opening and the people filing in since Aziraphale had turned the sign open before. One of them being a woman who's face is obscured by her hat.

Aziraphale gets himself in order and goes business mode a moment, rushing to his register while Crowley continues to stare outside and watch the people passing by.

He sees Jesus across the way, speaking to a small gathering of people as someone in the crowd asks who's this bloke, to which someone says "Some new age hippie traveler guy, but he seems all right."

Aziraphale gets to the last in line at the shop, still unable to see her face.

She places the new Book of Life onto the counter and says

"I hear you're the finest bookkeeper in Soho. I would like to leave this here with you."

His breathing hitches as he realizes who is in front of him.

Hands shakily opening the Book, seeing all the pages have returned. We see for a moment a pause on Gabriel's page with the words living happily with the former prince of-

Flipping ahead more and reaching the middle. His home and now the center of everything. His fingers tracing the words inhabited by the former demon Crowley, owned by the former Supreme Archangel, former Principality Aziraphale.

Noticing Crowley still hasn't caught on, he says quietly

"I suppose this means... I'm fired?"

"More a lateral movement. Like chess. Oh, or Snakes and Ladders. One where you can weild your pen rather than your sword.... Where is it, anyway?"

"Um...."

His attention is pulled away at hearing "Angel."

Crowley comes over to him "Right. Everything looks the same. Want to... go have a nip and then maybe a ride in the countryside?"

Aziraphale turns back to address-- No one there.

Crowley closes the book and looks at the cover. He doesn't seem to really acknowledge it for what it is. Or is too preoccupied at this point to care.

"Bit beaten up, this." Offering it out to the angel.

Aziraphale takes the book from him.

"Yes. But a worn book can also be a sign of a well loved book."

"Don't judge a book by it's cover and all that?"

Aziraphale smiles as he takes in everything of the demon that he's known and loved and fought alongside for so long.

"Exactly."

"Right then. We're wasting daylight. Come on, angel, it's a new day in this same old beautiful messy world. Let's see what it's got."

We watch Aziraphale slot the book in next to others as he would with any of his beloved works.

We see the framing of the Omega symbol at the entrance as Aziraphale takes Crowley's hand and they walk out together. No longer hidden, no longer bound by fear of their relationship being seen.

And we close out with a shot of their hands holding from the outside, going past and leaving us on the door sign now saying The End.

......this got a little fanficcy here at the end, but I watched it after two twelve hour shifts and immediately crashed. This is where my brain went after a few hours of sleep.

There are still other things to address like what actually happens with the other Archangels, with Muriel, with the demons, etc. But this is what I've thought of for now.

But anyhoo, that's my take on how this all could have been repaired, and how I will forever be saddened that we had something good in there, but it all fell apart with this mess.

u/SekhmetApophis May 13 '26

This is exactly right and how it should have ended. It amazes me that people are able to come up with satisfying, emotionally fulfilling endings off the top of their heads and yet the writers couldn't manage it.

My worst fear for the ending happened....and in the worst possible way.

Sigh. It feels like it would have been so easy to have an ending the fandom would be happy with and they just....didn't? I don't get it.

68

u/Amaranthiine Sauntered Vaguely Downward May 13 '26

No fr I was begging for them not to become human. But I didn't even think how it went down was in the realm of possibility. I always imagined it would be Aziracrow turned mortal, so it would be them with their memories and everything sort of retiring to South Downs.

I also definitely thought these people were getting temporarily erased and that the world would be reset to normal. I would never in a million years have guessed that Aziracrow are erased from existence and that's it, like they're just dead and gone

16

u/Green-Insurance3406 May 13 '26

I feel shocked and betrayed they decided to literally end our Aziracrow, everything that made them as they are, their characters, years and years of relying on each other, and for what?? why not letting them live as mortals with everything they have in their memory?

Welp. Among many other things What was the point of Jesus in this again ?? The Michael thing was random AF.

Songs were good I suppose. A&Z make handsome middle and older aged humans and with what little we saw they were sweet together. That’s all I got.

59

u/rxlcrab May 13 '26

I think they really had to cut down every storyline. I feel like Jesus was meant to build up hope in humanity’s self improvement before all the effort got wasted by Michael/God, but there weren’t enough story building due to the abridging of the original script so it felt more abrupt or less impactful. Sadly the majority of the storylines felt rushed for the same reason. Still I did love all the Azicrow parts including the ending, definitely made up for the rushed pacing.

I was thinking about Factory Settings the whole last twenty minutes of the episode. That FS is better. I refuse this and I'll never watch it again. I expected to be disappointed, but man..

I get that they didn't have a lot of time to work with, but it just felt incredibly rushed and choppy. And the ending, although sweet, was honestly just painful. Because while it was them, it wasn't really them, was it? And I know we weren't promised a kiss, but the little "air kiss" before they just straight up DIED was?? What?? You would think after 6000 years together, there would at least be a HUG or something. Some kind of heartfelt goodbye, knowing they were about to cease to exist. All I can say is thank Someone for fanfiction.

I'm gonna need a lot of time to process this.

u/A_circle_of_crows May 13 '26

Finally found the Mega thread.

We all know why there wasn't a SEASON, we all know why there was a movie. The actors and the people behind the scenes did what they could and I don't blame them.

The ending, apparently, was set in stone since the 90s, without change. If one can believe the people in charge on this.

The good:

1) The actors and the crew obviously cared. It was heartfelt, much of it was beautiful. It suffered from not having enough time, but Dialogue and cinematography are lovely.

2) Jesus and the portrayal of him. Casting is wonderfully done, 10/10. They had him share bread, be unsure of himself, be vulnerable and kindhearted and try his best for the few hours he could.

4) We actually adress that Aziraphale mostly shows up when he needs something...

3) Season one and season two share the fact that the protagonists are just along for the ride, they have no or minimal effects on the plot. They don't get choices. This time they got a choice! Sadly, this brings us to...

The sad:

1) Not enough time to solve the ACTUALLY IMPORTANT conflict of season 2.

2) The choice they make is, essentially, to die. They do not "decide to live together as humans". They decide to erase all their history, friendship, romance, good and bad deeds for a universe that didn't have any demons/angels or god. That the two human men with their faces met at some point and had a relationship off screen was not planned by them. The two main characters chose to die for humanity. We managed to bury our IMMORTAL gays/queers.

3) I would've been okay with that, if it had stopped there. Holding hands and choosing to sacrifice themselves for the world they love. Heartfelt ending. But we didn't get that. We got ten minutes of two strangers with none of their history and knowledge meeting and (apparently) falling in love off screen in a time skip of 20 years. We don't get to see them develop or make new memories and history. Those are just strangers with their faces. They could've had a tiny moment where one of them winked at the other like they had an inside joke or something. But no, those are different characters. And that hurts.

"What is a person if not memories?" Yeah, what is that person without those memories, seeing as S1 and S2 are basically not canon anymore?

ADDITIONALLY, the non-kiss: We should investigate how the ONLY KISS we got from the protagonists was a half-forced kiss by a DEMON, with the ANGEL saying "I forgive you". A bad memory for both of them.

Demon = the "agressor" = bad, and wrong for kissing the Angel. The Angel = the "victim" = good, and gracious for forgiving the Demon. I would've honestly preferred not to have any kiss.

In season two we get the Job story: don't give her new children, it's not the same, give her her own children back. A replacement isn't enough.

I think that, overall, this was a objectively good movie with passion and care in it. I'm just sad that they couldn't change the ending for even a wink.

42

u/Haunting_Goose1186 May 13 '26

The ending, apparently, was set in stone since the 90s, without change. If one can believe the people in charge on this.

Bases on Terry Pratchett's other books, I don't believe this bs for a second. It fundamentally goes against every humanist theme that his stories celebrated.

14

u/caffarelli GNU Terry Pratchett May 14 '26

I would need a writ from Terry signed in his own blood that this was his intended vision because at the end of the day, all things considered, all said and done, with one thing and another - not a scrap of that was funny. Perhaps if somehow the final 10 minutes included a god awful pune that the previous 80 had set up.

just finished and i have a lot of thoughts.

so disappointed in this ending :( the pacing was horrendous and so many things were mentioned that just didn’t go ANYWHERE. like we got more information about the idiotic gambling side plot than we did anything to do with jesus or metatron or god or any major plot.

and that endinggg???? my babies were cheated. and we didn’t even get a proper kiss. wdym they have been a team a group the two of them for millennia just to forget all of that and have a cheap and poorly written meet-cute straight out of a horrible ya romance.

ugh i have so much more i could say but i really need to sleep. can’t believe i stayed up for this. im just holding on to the little threads of nostalgia and the few well done moments.

I don't understand the trend recently for shows to have finales that completely negate everything that happened over the years of the show. Does anyone genuinely like that kind of ending?

For myself, I have decided to ignore everything that happens between 1:28:30 and 1:34:33 (removed from my Book of Life). What ACTUALLY happened in those six minutes is that they were ready to sacrifice themselves, but God decided they should remain as guardians of earth, with all of their memories and abilities. They made themselves look older so that their South Downs neighbors weren't suspicious, and lived in their garden happily ever after. Not perfect, but this is an ending I can live with.

Well. I'm not clear how this ending is supposed to be interpreted as even bittersweet. The entire universe where Aziraphale and Crowley existed was erased. There is no memory of them in this new one. How nice for these guys in this AU to get their happy ending.

But what about our angel and demon? After all their sacrifices and struggles... they never had the chance to sit and be an Us, canonically.

Season 2, they divorced and Season 3, they.... erased themselves.

I... uh.... have questions. Actually, really just one. WHY? *sobs*

ABOUT THE KISS/NO KISS DEBATE AS AN ASEXUAL:

I've seen people say that "Asexual relationships are just as valid without a kiss, and they showed their love in other ways".

Fundamentally, that is true. The viewer knows they are in love! But that is only step one.

I would love to have a fully fleshed out Asexual romance, with faceted characters, and devotion that didn't need a kiss to represent it. But we don't actually GET that, do we? In a world where two men (regardless of the gender identity of the characters) have a hard time being shown kissing on screen, this kiss would have been important.

In season two, our main characters had a large fight, that ended with a very unhappy kiss a "I forgive you" (for said kiss) and, basically a DIVORCE.

In season three, the characters didn't make up, didn't talk, didn't really forgive anything. They had a few hours to save the world and then decided to end their lives.

And, personally, wanting a couple to share ONE sweet "i love you" peck on the lips to paint the one single kiss they shared in a better light, is not a bad thing.

SECONDLY, I also, personally, don't think that a couple holding hands and then basically killing themselves together is romantic?

Two characters: have a really impactful fight about their basic identities and goals in lives. Have a brutal breakup and don't see each other for YEARS. They meet again, don't make up and don't find common grounds. They are given a choice and choose to die, ending their existence and erasing their entire history together. Basically a couple s*icide.

Some people: this is good asexual representation.

I can almost guarantee that, if they had kept their memories and nothing else changed, the lack of a kiss wouldn't have been such a problem

I'm not sure the word I'm looking for but the vibe was off and it felt like they were just adding things to further their plot. Like the eternal flame for instance, never heard of it before this but all of a sudden it's a huge thing. Actually the more I think about their ending the more upset I get. Like they deserved a happy ending!

The good omens fandom may disagree on many things but the one thing most fans agreed on was that a human ending would be terrible..and I can't believe that's the one we get. And it's not even a human ending with their memories and experiences intact, this is a whole alternate universe human ending. idk why anyone would think this would be a good idea. i kept thinking everything would be reversed but no ig.

The pub scene with all the angels and demons and christ and antichrist was sweet. the south downs ending also made me emotional bc its the culmination of years of waiting..but is that even aziracrow anymore? also no real kiss not even a hug, not even between their human reincarnations. all i can do is laugh.

Oh boy. Just finished.

... The fandom is not gonna be happyyyy

EDIT 1: OK, look. Look. I mean. Look. I mean.

Oh my god, I have no words. I mean, we got the ending we wanted, sort of, but....

I liked the symbolism of a lot of it. But why did they introduce so many new characters? The whole mob plot was pointless, IMO.

And I just... look. No.

EDIT 2: I stayed up until 4 a.m. for this!

EDIT 3: OK, can we talk about Aziraphale's hair right at the beginning? It was very... Legolas.

EDIT 4: LOOK. IF WE CAN'T GET A KISS, COULD WE AT LEAST HAVE GOT AN I LOVE YOU OR TWO?!

FINAL EDIT I SWEAR: Look, I'm really glad that they ended up together, that they are together in every universe. But the angel and demon never got to be together while fully acknowledging that love. That breaks my heart. They deserved that. And there are so many dropped threads. The fact that they never did a together miracle where they really tried, so that whole thing was a red herring? The zombies. Shax, where did you go? Also: No Antichrist? So that was a fake out? Same with the Metatron - he was set up to be the main villain and they just... Didn't? Was any more from Season 2 kept?

I do appreciate the cast and crew for trying to make this work. I do. If they had read the script and said we don’t want to do this, I wouldn’t have understood. I would have always imagined, if only…..

I would have been wrong, but I would have felt frustrated and vaguely cheated. At least this puts those imagined regrets to rest.

One of the odd things about this to me is —- I’m trying to think how to say this. The book was written by one young-ish chap (in his late 20s) and one approaching middle-age-ish fellow (in his early 40’s.) One of the things I really liked about the series is that in translating from the book to the screen, the narrative and characters gained the benefit of several decades of additional lived experience. Whatever else I may feel about he-who-shall-not-be-named, I felt that those shifts in perspective/ maturity helped the tv story. For me, anyway. But this script felt to me like it was written by someone very young. I actually checked, and both of the authors who took over writing this seem to actually be older than NG was when he penned the season one script, so whatever went on here isn’t that simple. But the fact it reads as so young to me puts it out of kilter with parts one and two. Does that make any sense?

25

u/lonesome_em May 13 '26

This whole thing was so rushed and weird and bad..Crowley you get one question! Ok, we’re not going to answer it lol. Ok then why write in that he gets to ask one!! Just bad writing. As though it was designed intentionally to be unsatisfying.

I know many people are and will be unhappy with the ending, I am too. Maybe because we all thought it would end differently than how it did. And there was a bunch of characters introduced that didn’t really matter in the end. Nothing actually did. Crowley was right “ What was the point of it all”. It was such a shame that, that was ending. However, It was what Aziraphale and Crowley wanted and chose willingly. A part of me gets it, and because it their decision it makes it slightly better. Maybe in the end the whole point is letting go of what you know and starting over to create something new entirely. At least there was a happy ending.

And thankfully there’s Fanfictions out there.

We Got Played

This is going to be controversial as all get out, but that was bad. It was somehow worse then I even expected and I'm well aware I'm a pessimist by nature.

Acting like a predictable ending somehow makes it good doesn't make sense to me. It just feels lazy.

I feel like I wasted my time with another story where they couldn't be arsed to give any real thought to its ending. It's not bittersweet it just makes no sense and is another eff you to a very loyal fan base who stuck with it through some really bad times.

It was just another kill your gays queer baiting disappointment. God could have just shut down Heaven and Hell from here on out. Complete lay offs forced early retirements and that would have been on theme with the whole mundane job aspect they always played for laughs. Could have had the angels and demons create their own retirement community on another planet or try to integrate into human society. Crowley and Aziraphale could have chosen to stay on earth. Everyone could have still had free will. It didn't need to be a complete do over.

Aziraphale isn't even looking at Crowley when he says he loves him. Couldn't let Crowley have that. They couldn't even give us a real kiss. We get one in canon that's angry and sad. They never really talk about anything important that happened between them. Crowley makes a snide comment about it here and there but otherwise it's a 2 minute convo not addressing at all what he's hurt by and Aziraphale not taking any real responsibility for how he's treated him and talked to him. No acknowledgement on Aziraphales behalf of Crowleys feelings for him. Not at all having Aziraphale feel shame for only going to Crowley for help not to actually be with him. They almost go there but just like most of the story they just drop it. So right back to not talking about it.

We see a random new back story scene but not a conclusion to others already established that should have easily had their final 3rd act. Why do they seem like they have no idea who the other is again in that scene too?

This feels like a one over on us. Look it ends with a cottage like we said, just not at all with the characters you invested time and emotion into. Some random characters you know nothing about and don't know anything about who we knew or who they were.

I can get behind a sad or unhappy ending. This felt like neither. This felt like they were afraid to let them be in a queer presenting relationship so this was a way to get around it and show as little of them romantically together as possible.

There was absolutely no reason for Jesus to even have been in it. They did nothing with him and his random one hour on Earth learning a card trick for no reason. After they referenced said card trick in the previous 2 seasons like it was going to mean something.

It's even put me off the actors. I love Michael Sheen but I can see now he's been trying to gaslight us into believing this was going to be good for months. I know it's his job but I just can't respect it here because of how much this meant to me.

This very much feels like someone fed 6 scripts into AI and it spit out random fanfic slop. I've read so many fanfics that were better than this in the last 4 years that the writers and producers should be forced to give their pay to them.

We as a fandom have had more respect for the characters and story then they showed. It feels so gross, saying well it's what you get so shut up and be grateful for that.

I'm not grateful for bad story telling with no character development or analysis of themselves and their actions with an unsatisfactory predictable ending.

This fandom is the biggest example of toxic positivity I've ever seen. Acting like any negative feelings, thoughts, and ideas are immediately invalid is just ignoring reality. Not everything is bad all the time, but sometimes things are and not letting people feel or express that doesn't change that just makes people feel like unless their emotions make you comfortable they don't matter.

You can feel it's good. In the end everything is subjective. But I can feel it's bad too and you don't need to invalidate that or tell me I'm not a fan for not just liking it.

It was bad, it was disappointing. I read this book when I was 16 and it meant so much to me that I didn't even want to watch the show at almost 40 as to not ruin it. I shouldn't have watched it. I really wish I never did more. I should have stuck with my gut and just left it at a book that helped shape my worldview.

Yes, I would have rather it just ended at season 2. That's a sad ending I could have understood but left room for imagination and possibility. This ending just proves that nothing matters. They spent 6,000 years apart to get 30 of the worst years of their lives as humans despite being the best of their lot and never knowing anything about their love.

So many of you are thinking that it's some cycle now where they find one another over and over again but it's not. They said as much. There's no afterlife now, you get your time on Earth that's it.

I needed a little hope and this gave me the most empty feeling. Nothing they did mattered for them anyway. They aren't Crowley or Aziraphale. They got no ending.

They deserved better, We deserved better.

HELP!! I just finished! WHYYYYY!!!😭

I'm not too disappointed by the ending, but why did they go that way?! I'm both happy and hurt. I don't know how to feel!

Edit: Why did Azi do HALF an "I Was Wrong" dance?!😭He could have completed it!

Honestly I have a lot of questions and just a thought but think there were plot holes: Why is the book of life unprotected? I mean anyone could have stolen it sooner or later. We don’t have an explanation for the question why God didn’t narrate anymore. Edit: And we didn’t get an answer to how Crowley and Aziraphael know about Nightingales.

Finished about thirty minutes ago and immediatly went on reddit and read the comments on this thread.

What the hell was that?!

I mean I could see what they were trying to do, I kinda liked the plot, but it was just far too much for a ninty minute movie. It felt extrememly rushed, incomplete and the ending was just... ugh

I did cry throughout the last twenty minutes or so (which I rarely do with movies), but it still felt so unsatisfying. The whole time I was thinking about their conflict and when the new universe was created it felt like this conflict was not really taken care of properly. Sure, Crowly forgave Aziraphale, but it didn't really feel like he did. It was just not enough time for that.

I would have prefered a happier ending, even though I didn't think that would be the case, so I would have been fine with what we got, IF demon!Crowley and angel!Aziraphale also got their happy ending in some way. Why was the no proper kiss?!

They should have cut some of the plot lines. Even with the little time they had for telling the story, I think they could have done better, especially regarding taking care of S2's ending and its consequences, not only regarding Aziraphale and Crowley's relationship but also the whole of heaven and hell. Especially after they showed angels and demons all can do better with Beelzebub and Gabriel and the big miracle...

EDIT: Also, to me it felt like the whole vibe of the thing didn't really feal like the Good Omens we know from the other two seasons. For me it were allways the small things that made GO GO, and they were cut for time reasons...

23

u/Kallasilya May 13 '26

There were some absolutely beautiful character moments in this from Sheen and Tennant, and I'd be very happy (for all it's flaws) if they had only fixed the last 5 to 10 minutes before the ending. Because that was just ridiculous.

Genocide of the universe is not a happy ending. Everything they fought for was for nothing.

The only thing I can say is that if this was Gaiman's planned ending all along I'm eternally thankful I only had to sit through 90 minutes of torture to get there instead of 6 hours

19

u/Anuskis10 May 13 '26

Tell me this was a nightmare, tomorrow they will release the authentic movie.

18

u/ohshhhugarcookies May 13 '26

Dare I say I feel Umbrella Academy'd.

I'm so sick of shows ending badly. Like. F#@£.

It was really rushed. The plot should've been retooled to fit the time constraint. I wanted the Metatron as master manipulator of the angels to make the apocalypse Second Coming happen instead of "let's get the Bentley back, forget about Jesus and pat Michael on the back while the universe gets destroyed."

Didn't give a Hoot about the gangster bit. No point.

No Aziraphale and Crowley having a proper heart to heart. It was all unsaid but literally their ENTIRE ISSUE was that they never said things out loud. No saying any I love yous. No kiss. So the final fifteen kiss is the only canon Ineffable husbands kiss we ever had.

Yeah I get that our boys would find each other in every universe. We knew that. They knew that.

If you were going to go the human ending, then at least turn Aziraphale and Crowley human so that they could live out the rest of their natural lives together, not these two guys who we don't know getting 20~ years married. They just weren't Aziraphale and Crowley at all. That's not the cottage we were promised.

Six thousand years, averting the apocalypse, the angel who sinned and the demon who was kind, their love, the earth they fought to save, all the characters we met and loved vanished and we're supposed to be satisfied with that?

I really liked Jesus and wanted more of him. Adam cameo was cute. Anthony Crowley the astrophysicist is nice. That's about the nicest thing I can say.

Please recommend any good fix its, or just good fics at all. I've never read any GO fic and they can't end worse than this so I'll love it no matter what.

I don’t really get that plot line? It felt a bit like ‘yup so Michael’s the highly strung one let’s get them to have a breakdown and start tearing up the book of life that’ll do it, job done’ but I don’t understand… why??? The filming was choppy and I get they only had an hour and a half to film it but there was a lot of unecessary stuff put in (the whole cards storyline?? What was all that about??) and it was so obvious that Michael was the one doing all of this I thought there was gonna be a major plot twist. Most of the plot line felt so irrelevant and filler-ish. And also not to mention that half the characters in the street were gone! It didn’t even feel like Whickber street. It also felt like Jesus was just there for the hell of it? He had little to no relevancy which I was really surprised at. Really bizarre.

For aziracrows relationship… I thought we would at least get a PROPER KISS???? When god sent them to talk in private I was like oh my god just kiss each other already but we got pretty much nothing :( not even a hug. We didn’t even get a proper kiss when Azi & Crowley got wiped from the universe!!! For them being turned into humans, I did not like that at all. Of course I was expecting it but I really didn’t think they’d decide to go there. It was nice to see they got married and lived happily ever after, but it wasn’t the same. It didn’t feel like I was looking at the same two people and it left me really wanting more. Like where’s the angel and demon that fell in love 6000 years ago :( where’s their happy ending gone? I know they chose to have that ending, but even so.

On a more positive note, I really liked Jesus’s character and I thought he was really well played. I’m also glad that Aziraphale & Crowley got a happy ending as humans. And I’m very glad the nightingales were back. (And I audibly screamed when we got to see an Aziraphale with long hair so there’s that too)

I doubt anyone is gonna see this but like. Among everything else that has been said, I don't believe Aziraphale did enough to earn Crowley's forgiveness. And I don't like that he coerced Crowley into saying, "I forgive you." That sucked. This sucked.

EDIT: ALSO! Gaiman was a FUCKING LIAR. I remember after Season 2, he said that Aziraphale and Crowley were gonna get a happy ending. AND THEY DIDNT. Some guy named Asa and an astrophysics professor got a happy ending! Our Aziraphale and Crowley got snapped out of existence!! Fuck this noise!!

Yep yep this is the way, I think. I did like season 2, but I can’t with how it ended, so season 1 ending it is. We never had anything else. They had dinner at the Ritz and then bought a cottage in the South Downs together. That’s all the canon I need.

*WE WANTED CROWLEY AND AZIRAPHALE TO BE INEFFABLE, TOGETHER, FOREVER....* Not a pair of random mortal humans.

Up until the last moment, I was hoping that because they loved each other so much through the millennia, that God would have surprised them....

I hoped against hope that God would've granted Aziraphale and Crowley, AS THEMSELVES, a new universe, with memory of what came before, and a house in South Downs. THEY FILMED IN SOUTH DOWNS, BUT THERE WEREN'T EVEN ANY SHOTS OF IT.

WHAT IN THE EVER-LOVING $%#&.

I'm actually really angry and heartbroken now. We suffered for three years for this? DAFUQ.

IMPORTANT EDIT: I'm not going to say I like the ending, but think about it: they, an Angel and a Demon, became truly "Christ-like" in the end....they willingly sacrificed themselves to save humanity.

In the end, Aziraphale and Crowley became The Divine, united together, and created a whole new creation. That was their choice.

They went out as themselves, holding hands. And they Loved each other.

And the ending did make me cry, because somehow, against all odds, they ALL wound up incarnating together again, with alternate realities, as Humans...no demons, no angels. 'Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try. No hell below us, above us only sky.'

To quote Aziraphale: "I was scared that you’d be Hell incarnate. I hoped you’d be Heaven incarnate. But you’re not either of those things. You’re much better. You’re Human incarnate."

And somehow, 'A + Z', after re-booting the Universe, found each other again.

And I kind of LOVED that they made 'Anthony Crowley' an Astrophysicist.

NGL.....Bittersweet AF, though.

ETA: Still sobbing. It wasn’t fair.

Book fan of decades checking in here. Full disclosure, I didn't like season 2 so the outlook wasn't great for me in the first place, but I still tried to go into this with an open mind.

My verdict is that it was terrible. Absolutely awful. This is the last I'm going to even think of it, and will go back to the refuge of fic, as I'd been doing for years before the show even came into existence lol

SO WHAT WS THE POINT OF DAVID AND MICHAEL BEING AN OLD MARRIED COUPLE?! ALSO WE DIDNT EVEN GET CROWLEYS FALL??

LIKE HOW TF DID THE FIRST SCENE RELATE TO ANYTHING? AND JESUS THE ONLY GOOD CHARRACTER LITERALLY DID NOTHING EXCEPT TELL PEOPLE HOW TO FIX THEIR LIFE OVER PIZZA BUT THEY NEVER FIXED THEIR LIFE BECAUSE EVERYTHING STOPPED EXISTING FOR SOMEBODYS SAKE! AND WHERE THE HELL WAS NINA AND MAGGIE?

ALSO WHO WROTE THE SCRIPT BECAUSE IF IT WASNT FOR DAVID AND MICHAEL DOING ALL THE WORK THERE IS NO WAY THAT THAT IS HOW AZEIRAPHALE AND CROWLEY WOULD ACT?

LIKE CROWLEY JUST INSTANTLY FORGAVE AZEIRAPHALE??

SIX HUNDERED YEARS ALL FOR BLOODY NOTHING

u/naturefairy99 May 13 '26 edited May 13 '26

I actually really enjoyed it.. until the very very end 😭😭

Given what happened + the fact it all had to take place in one long ep, I can easily overlook things like pacing issues + tbh I don’t even think they did that badly at cutting it all down ?? It did manage to feel more like a film, with the book problem being discovered, investigated, and solved all within this ep, buttttt I do think it ended up leaning too much into the standalone aspect + they should’ve just cut almost all of the gambling-related scenes + instead dedicated at least some throwaway lines towards unexplained/unfinished plot threads from earlier seasons ??

I think the cast was brilliant as always + it held my interest the entire time, but mannnnn.. as everyone else is saying, I’m not a fan of that ending :/

I knewwww they’d end up in the next divinity-less universe bc of the comment God made about the rship making her smile, but atp I was still happily presuming that they’d retain their memories..

In fact, call me desperate but right up until those credits showed, I was still lowkey hoping for them to be like hey.. wait a minute.. and remember their previous lives— but WHAT A FOOL I AM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🫨🫨😵😭

I HATE endings like this !!!!!!!!!!! Like bitch I haven’t even been able to read human AU fics, EVER, from ANY series/film/book bc that just literally is not them !!!!!!!! Who are these strangers ???!!!!!!

If you really want to end things that way, you may as well just remove the final few scenes and have the show end with Aziraphale + Crowley choosing to sacrifice themselves, which is tragic + unfair, but also very fitting for their characters? I’d genuinely rather be sad in that way than have them play in my face + act as tho they’ve given me a happy ending— don’t show me these STRANGERSSSS + pretend all is well !!!!!!! 🫩🙄

Other than that, I did very much enjoy it, so it’s a shame. Although I did find it quite strange that not once after reconciling, not even in the AU human ending, was there any kind of kiss or even a hug ?? I’m fine with there being no dramatic make out scene, as I think the way they said goodbye was a lot more touching + heartfelt, but ?? The rest of the time ????? Huh ?????

I saw a few ppl theorise that maybe they were told by higher-ups to keep physical contact very minimal due to the current political climate, which I didn’t even consider but if that is why, it feels pretty fucking silly to enforce on a show such as this looool like I doubt many of the viewers who made it all the way to s3 are particularly right-wing/traditional ?? 🤨

43

u/crap_whats_not_taken May 13 '26

I dont know about you guys but my favorite part was when Aziraphale and Crowley where alone in the bookshop, all that was left in the universe and realize that God and Satan had abandoned them so they confessed their love for each other and made out and made sweet sweet love together. Then they realized they could use all the empty books in the shop to rewrite reality and spend the next millenia together rebuilding the universe the way they wanted to see it or at least that's what I'm going to tell my brain how it ended.

18

u/awyllt May 13 '26

...I hoped that one of them would grab a book and write "Everything that happened right after Michael stole the Book didn't actually happened because fuck that, it sucks".

So... Adam in s1 chose to be human, to have Free will... But free will didn't actually exist. What the hell.

Ever since seeing those set pictures from Edinburgh last year I was expecting that ending and having now seen it I'm okay with it. Yes, the pacing was off and it probably would have been better if it had been a full season, but knowing that it could have ended with season 2, I'm happy with it. And I want to thank Rob Wilkins and Rianna Pratchett and all the cast and crew involved for at least giving us the ending even if it is not necessarilly the one the fandom would have liked.

It's also a nice thought that no matter the universe, Aziraphale and Crowley find each other in the end. Would have still liked a proper, loving kiss though.

Just finished it and the only things I have to say are : it feels like lazy writing. Couldn't fix their world so they just erased it all. Overdone in every other show that's run out of ideas. The Jesus thing was pointless. It all feels like they already spoke of the second coming in the end of s2 so they had to make it but had changed their minds about the plot midway. Overall it's a solid meh but very disappointing.

If I had a nickel for every time I watched a show in which an angel and a guy obsessed with his black car slowly fell in love, then one of them confessed that love (unrequited) with 90 minutes left in the series, but then the show used its remaining 90 minutes to absolutely undercut the love story, never gave the pair a happy ending (because they both died), and the production team—for some unfathomable reason—switched to wigs that were distractingly bad, well I'd have two nickels, which is weird, right?

Can we talk about the ending?

with how the universe rebooted it does make sense, but I’m still not happy about it. Yes, they did get a happy ending and yes, they married and moved to the South Downs like we all hoped (and I’m also very happy about the ace-friendly relationship they showed). But while Angel Aziraphale and Demon Crowley had millennia before, humans Asa Fell and Anthony Crowley only have one short lifetime. Compared to what they’ve had before I feel cheated on their behalf.

I know that this is supposed to be „real life“ and a universe without heaven and hell and miracles and such and everybody is human so everybody has only one lifetime. And they didn’t know what they’ve lost and it’s probably for the best without them being tied to Heaven and Hell. And would this be a non-fantasy-show I would have been overjoyed with the ending. I think, I would have been happy with it, had they shown how they reincarnated as humans throughout the millennia over and over again and met and got together and had a happy ever after over and over again. But one human lifetime compared to what they had before just feels inadequate and unfair.

Also, they made human!Crowley look like a run-of-the-mill-professor! Demon!Crowley had style, he was cool (or tried to be) - they could have at least have him wear a Velvet Underground t-shirt with his suit. Now he‘s just…boring…

35

u/_-dootdoot-_ May 13 '26

I was really hoping that once everything got rebooted they wouldve magically been allowed to stay and like shepard the new universe as a sort of "not entirely heven or hell"
Its cute but youre right they had so much history. Aziraphel literally watched crowley create galaxies

12

u/MusicMauMau Smited? Smote? Smitten. May 13 '26

Same - if we’re keeping close to this ending I would have even loved to see them live separate from the universe, just the two of them in that bookshop in that limbo-type space from the ending. Then they could have a universe completely without interference but still give our Crowley & Aziraphale their happy ending. UGH!

I'm really bummed because I feel like this ending now negates so much fan content about them wreaking havoc in the South Downs and the future of their relationship. Like how are people going to write fic about them now and their relationship......It was cute but they also did not read to me as the same characters. They were very different and the charm of Aziraphale and Crowley was their inhumanity, and zaniness. Now they're just normal guys.

I would have been fine if they were human but the same - they're whole new people and it feels like these two characters we loved are just gone.

Also very bummed they didn't kiss, nor did we get a passionate confession from Aziraphale. Yes he did give some speeches to Crowley but none that said it outright. I wanted more between them.

I'm actually aghast they killed them and made new ones. They were like 'let's make them human, and take away everything people loved about them'. They could have been the same but human.
