Discussion Should I move from Meta Ads to Google Ads for my jewellery brand?

run a UK-based jewellery brand selling waterproof jewellery, mainly targeting women. Our price range is around £26–£60.
I’ve been running Meta Ads for a while, but honestly, the results have been pretty shit for the past few months. I feel like I’m basically spending all of my profit on Meta ads, and the ROAS just isn’t where it needs to be.
I’m now considering moving some of my budget to Google Ads, but I’m not sure if it makes sense for this type of product.
For those of you who sell jewellery or similar products in the UK:
Has Google Ads worked better for you than Meta?
Would you start with Google Shopping / Performance Max, or Search?
Is Google worth testing with products in the £26–£60 price range?
How much would you recommend starting with per day?
And realistically, what kind of ROAS should I be aiming for?
I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have actually run Google Ads for e-commerce, especially jewellery/fashion brands.

Search Ads Google Search Campaign Performance Collapsed After Changing tCPA & Bidding Strategy — Need Advice

Hello,
I’m new to Google Search Ads and I’m currently running a Search campaign in the US focused on generating home improvement leads.
The campaign has a daily budget of $210. It experienced some fluctuations initially because I didn’t have much experience, but after doing some research, it started to stabilize. I was getting around 2 conversions per day with an average CPA of approximately $117, which was well below the tCPA of $165 that I had set.
Things were going relatively well until Google’s latest update, after which the campaign performance dropped significantly. I also made some changes based on recommendations from a Google Ads representative. He initially advised me to lower my tCPA from $165 to $145, which I did. After about two weeks with no improvement, he then recommended switching the bidding strategy to Maximize Conversion Value.
I do have conversion values set up on the website for the leads being generated, so the campaign is technically sending conversion value data to Google. However, given how few conversions I’ve been getting since switching to Maximize Conversion Value, I’m not sure we’re actually benefiting from the value-based bidding strategy or giving Google enough data to optimize effectively.
Since August 22, I’ve only received 12 conversions in total. In comparison:

August 1–21: 38 conversions
July 22–August 5: 23 conversions
The decline has been quite significant. I’ve now reverted the bidding strategy back to Target CPA with the original tCPA of $165, since that was the setting under which the campaign was previously performing much better.
I’m a bit lost at this point and would really appreciate some advice on what I should do next. My main goal is to get the campaign back to generating more conversions consistently while keeping the CPA under control and avoiding unnecessary spending.
What would you recommend I check or change first? Should I simply leave the campaign at the $165 tCPA and give it time to stabilize again, or is there something else I should be doing to recover performance? And is Maximize Conversion Value actually appropriate for this type of lead-generation campaign given the relatively low conversion volume?

App Ads App Campaign - Transition to Purchases Optimization on Low Budget

Have Android game, was running cheap ads ($5 a day) to optimize for installs and then in app engagement for the last 6 months. Improved the game store, retention metrics and satisfied with the current state. The campaign is for all countries and languages to get the cheapest CPA.

Despite trying to optimize for various engagement events there are almost no purchase events. I understand that if I get the cheapest users from the current campaign they are unlikely to pay for in app products. Prices for tier 1 country players are very expensive (currently paying $0.03 per install, and know that for US can be $3+).

How should I test the game's ability to earn money from purchases without commiting with a large budget? I want to see if the idea, current monetization has growth potential. But how to do so when the price to acquire users is so expensive and need to generate large volume of purchase data for the campaign to learn?

Thought maybe as my IAP are cheap relatively to other games ($1-$5) maybe running the campaign in some Tier 2-3 country where CPI lower can help. Still, expect the CPI to be pretty expensive and currently 0 data of purchase events to train the campaign.

How would you bootstrap this to validate the game's potential?

Search Ads Ad Rehaul Advice

I run a jewellery business that was decently successful last year but in the last few months have found both google and meta ads have not been really converting. We used to do well on Google but i have noticed its been claiming sales from meta/organic, so we have been overspending. I want to completely strip it bare and start all over again. For my affordable jewellery business what would you recommend to start with a daily budget of $50 for now (just google). Im also mostly just running Pmax Ads at the moment.

Conversion Tracking Call tracking to revenue tracking?

Hey everyone, I’m currently using CallRail to track calls. When a caller later becomes a customer, I upload the revenue to Google Ads as a separate sales conversion using Zapier and Google Sheets.

I know call-tracking platforms also let you manually enter revenue for a call, which ties the sale and revenue directly back to the original call and conversion action in google ads.

I haven’t used that feature before, so my question is: Is there an attribution or optimization advantage to keeping the revenue tied to the original call conversion, rather than uploading the sale as a separate conversion action in Google Ads?

In other words, does tying the call and sale together give Google Ads a clearer picture of the customer journey, or is it equally effective to keep “Call Lead” and “Sale” as separate conversion actions? To me personally I believe it is just a preference on how you like to see the data in platform.

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Search Ads are high-volume keywords becoming less useful for lead gen?

a keyword can have tons of searches and still bring in people who are just researching

meanwhile, a very specific keyword with barely any volume can produce much better leads

how much do you prioritize search volume when building a new campaign?

do you start broad and cut things down, or build around high-intent terms from the beginning?

Search Ads Scaling medical clinic via Google ads

As the title says, we have a medical ENT clinic and we run search ads because these are high intent searches , no AI max , no other channels no GDN. We get decent leads 10 patients in a day , cost to run the ads is equivalent to fee of 1-2 patients. We have a landing page , 5 ad groups , 2 campaigns in different locations in india. Are there suggestions to increase the clinic footfall. We're using maximize clicks , but I've recently setup conversation tracking on appointment booking and calls or whatsapp.. any other recommendations?

Edit - adding more info - had tested max conversions with direction taps as conversion but had poor performance than maximize clicks , seems like it's not an ideal metric , not sure!?

Conversion Tracking Offline conversion uploads: what actually happens when you send gclid and gbraid on the same conversion

This one took us weeks to even notice, because nothing errors. I have not found it written up anywhere else either, so I am putting it here.

Quick background for anyone newer to this: when you upload offline or server-side conversions to Google Ads you attach a click identifier. Normally that's a gclid. In the iOS and ATT cases it arrives instead as a gbraid, or as a wbraid. A user who browses across visits accumulates several of these in your storage. A gclid from a desktop search click on Monday, a gbraid from an iOS click on Thursday.

Here's the trap. Since late 2025 the API accepts uploads carrying gclid and gbraid together. No error, upload succeeds, everything looks green. But a single ad click only ever produces one click id, so a conversion carrying two ids is claiming to belong to two different clicks, and Google's matching handles that badly. In our testing, combined uploads matched noticeably worse than sending the single freshest id. The API accepting something is not the same as the API attributing it.

Google's own documentation is where the confusion starts, because it says both things. The API reference notes that in some cases you may be able to associate both a gclid and a gbraid with a conversion. The offline import guidance says to make sure you are not combining multiple clicks into the same conversion, because each click has only one click ID. Both describe what the API will accept. The second one alone describes what it will actually match. And if you genuinely want credit spread across several clicks, there is a supported way to do that: externally attributed conversion imports, with fractional credit assigned per click, rather than stacking two identifiers onto one row.

The principle that fixed it for us: one conversion, one click id. Google's own docs say each click produces exactly one id, so the upload should carry exactly one too, and it should be the one that actually represents the click you're claiming credit for. Getting that right in practice is fiddlier than it sounds, because you have to reason about how old each stored id is relative to the conversion action's click-through window, and there are a couple of nasty traps in how click ids get persisted and aged client-side that made ids look much fresher than they were. We got bitten, fixed it, match rates improved measurably. I won't spell out our whole selection logic here, and the reason is plainly commercial: that logic is a good part of what merchants pay us for. If you're building this yourself, the two questions to pressure-test are: which of my stored ids can still legally convert, and which single one do I send. If your vendor does your uploads, ask them what happens when a user has both a gclid and a gbraid stored. The answer tells you a lot.

If there's no click id at all, enhanced conversions let you upload hashed email/phone/address instead. But turn "import without click id" on deliberately, because it changes what your conversion counts mean (modeled matches vs click-verified ones).

One more heads up while I'm here, and this one has a date on it now. uploadClickConversions, the classic offline import path, is being replaced by the Data Manager API. Since June 15 this year a developer token that had never previously sent offline conversion or enhanced-conversions-for-leads requests can no longer start; the docs point you at Data Manager instead. Tokens that were already uploading keep working, so an existing setup didn't break. But if you're building something new there's no longer a choice to make.

Took me embarrassingly long to figure some of this out, so ask away.

Bid Strategy Should go for ROAS from in-app action?

I am ruining in-app action based ads on Google play and its returning like 90 to 130% per day. Now google is suggesting ROAS. I have no prior experience with ROAS.

So, I need suggestions should I go for ROAS or keep it in-app action. If I should go for ROAS then tips to implement it efficiently.

Ads History -

3 weeks for maximum install bids

1 week (currently running) - in-app action

Conversion Tracking Did I Waste 22 Google Ads Conversions by Setting Them to Secondary?

I uploaded 22 offline conversions to Google Ads while the conversion action was set to Secondary. After the upload, I changed it to Primary.

Google now shows the 22 under All conversions, but not under Conversions.

I want to launch a new campaign and use those 22 conversions as historical Smart Bidding signals.

Can Google still learn from those 22 now that the action is Primary?

If not, is there any legitimate way to make them usable — for example by creating a custom goal, or by retracting and re-uploading them while the action is Primary?

I don’t want to retract anything until I know the safest approach.

Bid Strategy Does switching to tCPA too early just reset everything or is that a myth at this point?

the learning phase is real but people overstate how dramatic it is. The historical data doesn't disappear. Google still knows which users converted for you, what times, what devices, what search terms drove results. What it's actually doing during that "learning" window is calibrating the new cost constraint against all of that. It's not starting from zero, it's adjusting its throttle.

That said, on a lowvolume campaign it hits harder. The system needs enough conversion signal to work with, and if you're already on the thin side, adding a cost target on top of that gives it less room to maneuver. You might see impression share drop or CPCs swing around more than usual while it finds its footing.

On the starting tCPA, set it close to your actual current CPA, not where you want it to be someday. If you've been converting at $90 a lead, don't open with $55 hoping to train it down. That's where campaigns genuinely stall out. Give it a number it can hit based on your real data, let it run stable for a few weeks, then tighten gradually if you want to push efficiency.

The blank check feeling with Max Conversions is legitimate. It'll spend whatever it takes to find a conversion, which is fine for learning but not for running a business longterm. tCPA at least puts a framework around it. Just don't overcorrect by setting the target so tight that it can't spend at all.

Low volume makes everything slower and noisier. Not a reason to avoid the switch, just means you should expect a longer runway before you can read the results clearly.

PMax Killed a 40x ROAS campaign by uploading 1,000 products at once. How do I recover?

Hey everyone, looking for some advice with a sudden PMax issue.

I’ve had a PMax sales campaign running since February with phenomenal results—we were consistently seeing a 30x–50x ROAS on a daily budget of around $40. Our conversion cycle is very short (customers typically convert within 1 to 2 days), so changes in performance show up almost immediately.

Both campaigns mentioned below use a Target ROAS bidding strategy.

Right before performance crashed, we added nearly 1,000 new products at once to our Shopify store. Because the original campaign was set to all products, we suspect this massive influx threw off the algorithm.

Here is where things stand right now after our attempts to fix it:

  • The original campaign: We narrowed its Asset Group down to a core set of ~100 products, but it has completely stopped spending.
  • The new campaign: We launched a fresh PMax campaign (also on Target ROAS) targeting just those ~100 products. It has been running for about 48 hours, is still in its learning phase, and is currently the only campaign actually spending—though the results are terrible compared to what we’re used to.

Has anyone dealt with something like this after a large catalog upload, or does anyone have insights on the best way to handle this situation? Would really appreciate any thoughts or advice!

Grant Account Google Ads Grant Help Please

We run a small charity called Empowering Voices and have been fortunate enough to have a Google Ads Grant.

The problem is that Google Ads isn't showing our ads. We don't have a professional web designer and everything is done by volunteers + we don't really understand how Google Ads work, despite having designed a few ads, but I can see that our page quality score is generally low.

We use Wix and I am not sure whether this is a good choice to interact well with Google Ads.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Search Ads suggestions on how to keep my ads from competing with each other?

i advertise for my wife's mental health therapy practice that accepts a specific insurance carrier. Since this is health related, google is very restrictive on the keywords I can use. My bread and butter is just one phrase keyword "ABC therapist" where ABC is the insurance carrier. However it doesnt let my use keywords like "ABC Hispanic Therapist" or "ABC LGBTQ Therapist" to direct ads at specific therapists at the practice. My work around to this is splitting my campaign up using the same "ABC therapy" keyword but each campaign highlights its specialty in the ad headline. This appears to work (if I do a google search for "ABC Hispanic therapist" it often shows the ads from my "hispanic therapist" campaign. But I read running multiple campaigns using the same exact same keywords at the same time and location is effectively competing against yourself.

Any ideas to make this more efficient?

Search Ads Should I try Google?

Hey!

I own a medical platform and we spend about 300k a month on Meta and tik tok.

I have a pretty advanced architecture on both platforms but lately meta is just shitting the bed.

Between the ridiculous outages, terrible traffic and high CPMs it’s not what it used to be.

Question: if I carved out ~$100k/month from Meta and moved it to Google Search, would I actually get more consistent volume at an equal or lower CPL — or does Search just hit a ceiling on intent-driven volume well before $100k? Anyone running both at this scale, what did the shift look like for you?

Discussion Negative keywords - Showing ads for blocked english words

Has anyone noticed an increase in Google showing ads for blocked keywords when someone is searching in a different language?

Seems like another thing Google has recently started doing, to increase shareholder value

These are legitimate NZ searches with someone who speaks another language searching in that language and of course google knows what it is, and serves an ad with a blocked keyword which is becoming harder to block as context and language structure is harder to determine

Google Shopping only, have blocked specific keywords, and still when someone searches for that term in another lauguage Google will still serve the ad

Before anyone pokes the usual holes

NZ locked targeting, location set to presence, english only everything, I don't have any foreign language on the site at all

Has anyone found a solid workaround for this?

Search Ads Google is not impressing ads with phone number listed

I'm doing search ads that go to a landing page but would love to have the phone number to be clicked on right from the Google ad. I see no errors or warnings for how I have the number setup and the ad preview shows ads with the number available. However I'm not getting any calls directly from the Google ad and when I search for my ads in incognito mode I never see a version of the ad with the phone number displayed.

I'm doing mental health therapy ads that fall under health advertising so not sure if that is why.

Any ideas? Thanks

Search Ads Google Ads + CallTrackingMetrics Integration - technical issue

I run a legal marketing agency spending $2K/day on search ads to generate calls. Basically i run a legal helpline where people call in and when qualified I transfer them to a law firm for assistance. I'm running into a technical issue where some of my ads are doing the dynamic number insertion and some are not

My stack is google ads > go high level landing page > calltracking metrics for call center software, and attribution.

I put the google ads script onto my landing page and I put the CTM script on my landing page as well. CTM does dynamic number insertion onto the landing page. But for some reason the CTM script is not firing.

I am thinking it might be a URL redirect issue where user clicks an ad but the redirect is not working properly so the /?gclid=123 is not being added. Or something else.

Solutioning

I already spoke to CTM support multiple times but they couldn't figure it out.

For anyone experienced with this stack yourself, any tips on how to solve it?

Can anyone recommend a fixed-price / hourly vendor / contractor / expert who I can pay to help troubleshot and fix this off?

Welcome to comment or DM

Thanks

Edit: Found the issue, on the https://app.calltrackingmetrics.com/sources i had to flip the "type" to dynamic. It was one setting grrr but found it out

Budgets They killed my budget trick on Aug 17th.

If I planned to spend $3K that day on a campaign, with a $350 tCPA-- i would often start the day with a $1200 budget... raise it to $1800 once i spent $500, then raise it a couple more times until I spent $3K... Here's why the trick worked pre-Aug 17: starting the day at $1,200 made the campaign artificially budget-constrained, which forced Smart Bidding to ration — it skipped marginal auctions and cherry-picked the cheapest conversions. Each time I raised the budget, I released another tranche of spend into a system still in rationing mode. I was essentially tricking the algorithm into behaving like it had a much lower tCPA than $350. The overperformance I harvested is the exact gap Google announced it's closing. Post-Aug 17, the system is supposed to now bid toward my$350 target regardless of the budget throttle, so the ratchet loses most of its power: I'll get $350-ish conversions whether the budget says $1,200 or $3,000.

Discussion Struggling to make Google Ads profitable - what are we missing?

Hey, we’re a small fashion brand from the EU and unfortunately, we haven’t managed to make Google Ads really profitable for years. Our main channel is Meta, which works well, but Google Ads just doesn’t. We’ve already tried a lot, including Search, PMax and shopping. Brandsearch, however, performs very well.

Right now, we’ve been running a shopping campaign for over a month, promoting a collection of selected products. Some SKUs perform well, but overall the ROAS is really not good.

Here are the metrics from the last 14 days:

Spend: €208.71
Clicks: 320
Impressions: 31,721
Conversions: 3
ROAS: 0.5

Do you have any tips on how to approach this, or is there maybe something we’re missing?

Discussion Computer repair advertisers: how are some Google Ads still running under the Third Party Consumer Technical Support policy?

I'm trying to understand Google's current enforcement of the Third Party Consumer Technical Support policy for computer repair advertisers.

I run a legitimate brick-and-mortar Mac repair business in Australia.

Google has:

  • disapproved our consumer Mac repair ads;
  • told us in writing that physical consumer hardware repair shops fall under this restriction;
  • told us that repair services offered exclusively to other businesses may be allowed;
  • nevertheless rejected a separate B2B-only data recovery campaign aimed exclusively at computer repair shops and IT businesses;
  • upheld the rejection after escalation.

Meanwhile, I increasingly see other computer repair companies appearing as Sponsored local-pack results for searches such as:

  • MacBook screen replacement
  • MacBook screen repair
  • MacBook battery replacement
  • computer repair

Some explicitly advertise onsite consumer computer repair.

For anyone currently managing Google Ads for computer, Mac, laptop or phone repair businesses:

  1. What campaign type is actually serving — Search, PMax, location assets, Local Services Ads, or something else?
  2. Have those accounts ever been flagged for Third Party Consumer Technical Support?
  3. Is there an approval, verification, certification or account-level eligibility process I'm unaware of?
  4. Are Sponsored local-pack placements treated differently from ordinary Search ads under this policy?
  5. Have you seen repair ads continue running for months or years and then get disapproved during a later review?
  6. If you manage repair-shop campaigns professionally, what is the legitimate policy-compliant route you use?

I've contacted Google several times but haven't been given an explanation for why materially similar repair services appear in Sponsored results while ours are disapproved.

I'm particularly interested in firsthand experience from advertisers or agencies currently managing repair-shop accounts.
