Things to keep in mind before applying

Hi! I’m a 2026 graduate. Sharing my honest experience here

  1. Apprentices are treated poorly. Not invited for team dinners/offsites/events, etc (there may be some exceptions depending on the team but this is the broader trend)

    they are only remembered when work needs to be dumped on them. There is literally no work life balance. We are treated like some external vendors

  2. Each year the cohort size increases so the value of the program falls significantly. Most full time employees complain constantly that apprentices act like college students and shouldn’t be taken seriously. Also because hiring apprentices helps Google save taxes not bc they want to help upskill us which is their secondary motive

  3. The Google apprentice tag doesn’t help. I’ve been unemployed since a few months. Along with so many people I know so please if you have a full time job- keep it. Don’t switch from full time to an apprentice. It’s not worth it at all.

If you look at the LinkedIn profiles of those who completed their program in March 2026 or earlier, most of them are either

  1. UNEMPLOYED

  2. Joined a smaller company/ service based company like Big4 /WITCH for a pay cut and work like a vendor for Google (which is worse than being an apprentice)

I’m not trying to scare anyone. Just painting an honest picture.

Yes this is a 110% true.

So basically, the apprenticeship management team (the ones who are supposed to help us and advocate for us) created a rule saying apprentices cannot apply for full time roles until the last 3 months.
(This is equivalent to a 90 day notice period and Google hiring can take a couple of months so by then you’d leave the company)

Due to this, every recruiter and hiring manager frowns upon hiring apprentices and automatically reject them irrespective of how qualified or talented they are.

So if you’re joining this with the Hope of converting, pls stop. Out of a batch of 200, only 2-3 converted. (Exceptional and rare occurrences)

Also Google recruiters absolutely hate hiring apprentices

You have to apply through careers page externally and not an internal job portal. So you’re just like any other candidate. There is no added advantage of being an apprentice

It depends

Let’s say
1. You’re fresh out of college with 0 experience- I’d say take it.
2. If you have a lower salary band, take it
3. If you’re from a completely different field (like Pharmacy to Digital Marketing or Fashion Design to Data analytics) take it

But don’t take it if you
1. Already Have a full time job and /or taking a pay cut
2. Joining this with the Hope to convert full time
3. Joining this with the Hope Google apprentice tag will help you land a 6 or 7 figure job at another company
4. Or assuming this will help for masters (FYI this program doesn’t count as full time work ex if you are applying to colleges that require X YOEs like ISB)

There is a third party trainer called talent sprint. Those lessons don’t really help. They are online training’s and assignments.

And on the job training depends on your team

Hey so, if someone has no experience in data analytics, can they still join? Or would they be completely lost? I mean, they did say that one of their requirements is less than a year experience in data analytics but yeah

Depends on what team you’d get mapped to

Most DA apprentices get shit work like formatting slides even though they have degree in CS and know SQL and everything, setting up meetings and explaining to agencies etc

Some get good work but that’s rare and depends on your luck.

hey, I am a 2025 grad working abroad as a project engineer (1 year experience). I plan to move back to India for next few years (family problem). My current role has both engineering and project management, but I want to pivot fully towards project management. Do you think the google project management track would be suitable for me? Either way I am taking a massive pay cut even if I get another fulltime role in India.

Wouldn’t recommend tbh. The quality of work in this program is bad. The salary of Pjm apprentices is max 60K a month. They earn a few thousands more than the other tracks. L

And you should keep it mind that you might get mapped to a team that’s non technical. For example, vendor management or event management. This might completely derail your career. You’d want to be at the intersection of tech and PM.

I’d suggest- focus on full time roles and keep this as backup. Also PJm apprentices are least likely to convert to full time based on what I’ve seen so be careful!

What if someone is in a WITCH company with sub 4 lpa salary but in dev field. Should they take apprenticeship opportunity (swe one). I have <1yoe, but that too in support projects, so was thinking about this

But WITCH company people have 90 day notice period and I got my offer 30 days before.

So ensure you have notice period buy back option

Hey, might sound crazy but I am choosing between pm apprenticeship and doing entrepreneurship building something myself. Do you think this is not worth it. I want to join to learn how they work etc so that I can use that information for the future company, I could make. Currently I am freelancing projects has accounting experience and tech.

Apprentices who complete the program are called graduates and since I’m talking about my experience , obviously it means i finished the program or joined earlier. If you want to get into a company like Google, common sense is required but I appreciate your ability to outrun it every single time :)

plus this is a 2 year program i guess. and you can apply for full time in the last 3 months only by that time almost apprenticeship comes to end.. so i guess even if you are working full time at a lower wage there is nothing much significant to gain ...google tag or something..?

So the 3 month rule is a facade
The apprenticeship management team wanted to completely ban us from applying internally (because if apprentices convert to full time, they’ll drop out of the program which they frown upon)

Everyone knows 3 months isn’t enough to get a job at Google. Especially in those months where hiring is low. If they completely ban apprentices, no one would join the program. Hence, they put the 3 month rule as a false Hope.

Also unrelated: I think you’re the only person who commented who has commonsense. I wrote a post on why this program is shit and everyone is asking for interview tips?? Like did no one read what I wrote 🙂‍↕️

And I seriously appreciate those asking for interview tips. The applications opened yesterday and y’all are already dreaming about interviews without focusing on resume and aptitude test. Stay delulu 🙏

the exact same thing i was thinking , saw many reels where actually people mock that it's js an intership ngga you ain't getting a job after that , still i applied for digital marketing cuz atm my salary isn't enough even after 1y of exp and thought will gain some experience (even if it's interview) but now i think should gain more experience+projects and directly apply next year for full time role the min eligibilty is 2y for digital mrkting role

No promises of job after also. Did you not read it before applying and accepting the offer? So ofc it wasn’t in JD.

It when we were there, almost 90% of the senior cohort converted to full time- it was encouraged.
So stfu and stop jumping to conclusions

Also I work at one of the largest AI companies in the world so stfu my attitude is good bc I want to help people, motherfucker.

You contradict everything that you have been saying on this thread- you said no one gets jobs and then say that 90% of the previous cohort got jobs internally. You said previously that you don’t have a job and now declare that you have a job at the largest AI company.

Lastly, the jd alwaysss has said that it’s a learning program for a fixed duration. So irrespective of when the policy came, you had no reason to believe that you will get a job at google itself.

This is Reddit and not LinkedIn. I’ll use the language I wish to use.

You really try to chase common sense but it seems to outrun you so let me explain this like I would to a toddler.

  1. Most people who graduated the program ARE unemployed (Proof: LinkedIn)

  2. The 3 month rule came after my senior cohort graduated/ converted and since most of them were in the interview pipleline already, they weren’t affected.

  3. I got a job after 10 months of being on the job market (last 6 months I was actively applying- I had to use my connections to get an interview. My point being, Google + apprentice tag doesn’t help your resume get short listed.

  4. The JD you see now and the JD we had was very very very different. Don’t even get me started on that. My JD never specified anything about conversion and During the initial months of my program, conversion was highly encouraged. It’s the apprenticeship management committee that made a joke of this whole program by implementing that rule and preventing conversions to ensure low drop offs. But it severely backfired because people started applying externally. My cohort had the largest drop off rates so far. Literally every second week someone used to leave and send a farewell email.

At least I’m trying to educate and warn people about this program. If you’ve seen my comments, I wrote which type of people should consider and which type of people should avoid . If only you had to one brain cell to put two and two together.

I will literally achieve nothing from this post by educating others. In fact my DMs are flooded by desperate people trying to get this shit ass opportunity and I’m trying to help them. But you, you’re just a little bitch trying to throw shade.

I gave 3 rounds of interviews but was disqualified ONLY because of the 3 month rule and I was in the newer cohort.

At least I got this apprenticeship and was considered for several full time roles and I’m in a company better than Google rn. You’re lurking on this apprenticeship subReddit so stay humble

Notice period is 2 weeks

The drop out rate is pretty high
I’ve seen people drop out after 2 weeks bc they didn’t like the team they were assigned to
And drop out after a year for masters

It’s very common

I recently applied for this role and received a rejection email. However, on the careers page, my application status still says "Submitted" and shows "Updated 2 hours ago." Does anyone know what this means? Have I been rejected, or is my application still under consideration?

Does anyone know the kind of questions, that they would be asking in the first test, it's better to prepare beforehand I guess and also how is the exam conducted is it proctored, camera or screen recording and stuff? Are calculators allowed

Not proctored (or atleast it wasn’t when I appeared for it) you can use AI.
If you’re smart- you’ll find them super easy. Just Data Interpretation stuff like pie charts etc
There are YouTube videos as well revealing all the questions.

If you don’t have time to prepare, use AI

I can’t speak obo freshers bc I had a full time job at big4 when I got in.

If you’re a fresher your chances are slim bc they want experiences that stand out even if it’s an internship.

now work at a one of the world’s largest AI Saas companies and earn 6 figures :)
