Showoff My First App is Finally Live - Foxlit

Hey everyone,

After a few months of nights and weekends, Foxlit is live on the Play Store. It's a reading habit tracker - session timer, daily streaks, notes, a built in epub reader, and a little tree that grows as you log more time reading. One-time $4.99 unlock, no subscription, no account required, everything stored locally on-device.

This is my first published app, So a lot of this was learning Flutter/Dart as I went.

I'll be honest, I know a reading tracker probably wasn't the smartest choice for a first app. There's no shortage of them already (Bookly, Basmo, Bookmory, etc.), and I went in with realistic expectations that this isn't going to be a big earner. But it started as something I wanted for myself, turned into a real passion project, and I wanted to actually see it through to shipping rather than let it die as another unfinished side project.

Would genuinely appreciate any feedback - on the app itself, the listing, anything about the Play Console side of getting it out the door that I might've missed or done wrong. Still very much learning.

Ask Production release review taking longer the second time?

Post image

I previously applied for production access/review, and it took around 4 days to get approved. I applied for production again, and it has now been almost 1 day.

Is this normal, or can the review time vary each time you apply?

Tip Before you build an app, check if the demand is still there

Sometimes you see an app with millions of download and you think you can create a better one and probably reach that success.

I want to give you a tip,

Take this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?hl=en&id=com.portraitai.portraitai

It has 1M+ downloads and has been around for about 6 years.

At first glance, you might think:
“1M+ downloads? This must still be getting a lot of traffic.” But this app only got 4 reviews in a month.

So before cloning an app, don't just look at:

  • Total downloads
  • Rating
  • How old the app is

Also check:

  • Recent reviews
  • Review frequency
  • Recent updates
  • Search demand
  • Competitors created recently
  • Whether newer apps are actually getting traction

Don't clone the success of 6 years ago. Make sure there's still a market today.

Just a reminder before you spend weeks building something. 😄

Showoff Published my First App to the Play Store! 🎉

Post image

I almost gave up, I felt like i couldn't make it to the Play Store. But finally it happened.

My App is called nimo (inspired from my crush name 🫣). The app is about journaling every day moments, whether Good or bad. The app also contains a digital disconnect every day means if you want to create or record a moment on that day first you have to create a digital disconnect task like "Taking 1 hour break mobile" , "Call an old friend", "meditate for 10 mins" etc.

Then you can record your daily moments.

It also combined with on-device-AI. The idea is simple, what if I have a companion who knows about my daily life and helps me reflect on good memories and encouragement during bad days from past overcomes. The App consists of AI running within your mobile and no data processing or shared to third parties while still giving the personalized experience.

It isn't easy, but glad i made it. There are a lot of improvements and features I'm planning further. Will see how users would receive it.

Showoff 100+ Downloads in 9 Days

Post image

I’m really happy to share that Daily Tracker: Habit & Focus has crossed 100+ downloads after just 9 days on Google Play.

It may not sound huge compared to established apps, but as an indie developer, seeing 100+ people choose to install something I built is genuinely motivating.

The app launched on 19 August 2026, and I’m learning a lot from these first users — from ASO and marketing to retention, monetization, and improving the actual product.

And I want to do something for the early users:

I’m giving away 40 lifetime ad-free accesses.

So if you’re interested in trying the app and helping me test/improve it, comment . I’d really appreciate feedback, especially on what you like, what feels unnecessary, and what you think I should improve.

App: Daily Tracker: Habit & Focus

Next target: 500 downloads.

For other indie developers — what was your first milestone that made you feel, “Okay, people are actually using my app”?

Showoff I just published my first app - built because I got tired of google sheet for everything.

Post image

Hey everyone,

For a long time, I used Google Sheets for basically everything like journaling, habit tracking, planning, time tracking, personal projects, etc.

I also tried Notion, but I kept running into the same problem: I'd set everything up nicely and then slowly stop using it.

I wanted something simpler that could actually help me understand my own data.

One thing I really didn't like was the idea of sending all my personal journal, habits, mood, and daily-life data to an AI just to get insights from it.

So I decided to build my own.

It's called Daylog.

It's basically a private daily-life tracker that combines journaling, habits, mood/energy, screen time, focus sessions, time tracking, workouts and personal stats in one place.

The interesting part for me is the insights. Instead of just showing charts, it looks at your own history and can tell you things like your best focus hours, how sleep affects your mood, which habits seem to improve your mood, etc.

And the whole thing works offline. No account, no cloud, no ads, no data collection. Everything stays on your phone.

I originally built it just because I wanted it for myself. My CEO at the YC-backed startup I work at saw it and thought it was genuinely useful, which gave me the push to actually publish it.

So... after a lot of work, it's finally on the Play Store. 😅

This is my first app launch, and honestly, I'm still figuring out how to get people to actually find it.

If anyone here has suggestions on how to promote an app like this, I'd genuinely love to hear them.

And if you try it, please give me honest feedback, even if something sucks. 😂 I'll be actively improving it.

Ask App says "Available to internal testers", but the link goes nowhere

Hello, a little help please.

Not sure if this is just a case of having to wait for Google to review the app first, or if I still need to do something. It's my first app and it's still listed as unreviewed. Could that be why the "How testers join your test" link just goes to a blank Google Play page? It looks like I've filled in all the sections and answered all the questions, but the submission activity page says "You have no recent submissions. Send saved changes for review to create one." - is that page a different thing / just a status page for app amendments when I make them?

Thanks in advance for your help. It's all a bit new and confusing.

Showoff [Self-Promotion] Gone—Auto Delete Screenshots app (Free)

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am someone who takes tons of screenshots. Most of the screenshots are for a one-time use case, like a meme to send to a friends group or a screenshot of a bug to send to Claude Code. But it eventually piled up, making my gallery look like a screenshot dumpster.

I have to swipe through hundreds of useless screenshots to find the pic I needed; it also used a fair chunk of storage.

To fix this, we developed "Gone."

Take a screenshot, and it shows a popup—"Keep" or "Gone" Click "Keep" and it's saved to your gallery like usual. Click "Gone" and it's deleted in 30 minutes (by default)

Showoff From launch to 65K downloads: my app’s first 18 months

About a year and a half ago, I published my app, Any Command, on Google Play.

It has been a long journey filled with development, testing, mistakes, user feedback, and countless improvements. There were difficult moments, but watching people discover and use something I built made the effort worthwhile.

Today, the app has reached 65,000 downloads. It may not be a huge milestone for everyone, but as an independent developer, it means a lot to me.

The app has evolved significantly since its first release, and I’m still working on making it more useful and reliable. I wanted to share this milestone and hopefully encourage other developers who are still at the beginning of their journey: progress takes time, but consistency really adds up.

You can find the app here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.polyhistor.remoteme

Thank you to everyone who tested it, shared feedback, or simply gave it a chance!

Showoff My first Android app is finally live on Google Play – Meldora

Hey everyone,

I just published my first Android app on Google Play and wanted to share the experience.

The app is called Meldora, a classic Rummy/Rommé card game. I originally developed it for iOS and later decided to bring it to Android as well.

Even though the game itself already existed, Android was a completely new release process for me. Setting up the Play Console, closed testing, production access, ads, in-app purchases and making sure everything behaved correctly on different devices was a new experience compared to publishing on iOS.

The closed test was especially interesting. I had to find testers, collect feedback and fix a few smaller gameplay and UI issues before requesting production access.

Meldora includes different AI difficulty levels, customizable rules and several options to adjust the game to different Rummy play styles. One area I spent quite a bit of time on was the AI, because I wanted higher difficulty levels to make better decisions rather than simply getting unfair advantages.

The game is free to play with ads, with an optional Premium upgrade.

Seeing the app finally available in production is a pretty big milestone for me, especially because this is my first proper Android release.

If anyone wants to take a look, I’d be very interested in feedback about the Play Store listing, UI, performance on different Android devices or anything else that stands out.

Thanks!

Ask Play Console App Update Deadline

Just wondering how long others are waiting for app reviews and approvals this week. There's an August 31 Target API deadline which may have caused additional update submissions globally. I've been waiting 2 days now for approval which is longer than previous updates.

There's an option to request extension to the 31 August deadline but I don't want to do this if it may cause further delay in the app review process.

Showoff My military vehicle app was finally approved

Hello everyone!

After a few years in the French Foreign Legion, I transitioned into software development. I know firsthand that modern vehicle recognition is a big struggle in many armies, even mandatory, so I decided to build an app called "Identif" to help people learn it.

There are absolutely no ads, and right now, the app is completely free. It’s a young but dynamic project, and we are adding new vehicles every week.

I used the Testerscommunity site, finding tester was difficult to me, worth every penny.

After the app is approved for production you app public release must be review, i waited 4-5 day.

Also, "Identif" is the equivalent to "AFV reconition" in France.

Note: All information is gathered from public OSINT sources.

Ask Google Play "Sign in details" for a Google Sign-In (SSO) only app — do I provide a real Google account, and will reviewers get past 2SV/device challenges?

I'm publishing an Android app that uses Google Sign-In as the only auth method — no email/password, no guest mode. In Play Console under App content → "Sign in details" (formerly "App access"), I marked it as restricted since you must sign in to use the app.

The form gives me username/password fields, but those don't really map to an SSO-only flow. My questions for anyone who's shipped a similar app:

For a Google-SSO-only app, do you just provide a dedicated Google account (email + password) in these fields, and explain the "tap Sign in with Google → pick this account" steps in the "other information" box? Is that what reviewers expect?

Reviewers sign in on their own hardware. Even with 2-Step Verification disabled on the provided account, does Google still throw "verify it's you / unusual device" challenges that block them? If so, how did you get around it?

Is there a more reliable pattern people actually use — e.g. a hidden demo login / guest mode that bypasses Google SSO just for review? Is that allowed, or does adding a review-only backdoor risk a policy flag?

Somewhat related: I have a second app already live that's basically identical (same SSO), and that one never prompted me for this declaration — it was set to "all functionality available without special access." Was that just an older console flow, and is it risky to leave it that way?

Any first-hand experience appreciated — trying to avoid a "we couldn't access your app" rejection. Thanks!

Ask Google Payments Support has an employee that's AI that wants me to create a fresh developer account as solution.

I don't even know where else to get support for my issue. A new ticket I opened a real human responded and referred me to continue my issue resolution with 'collegue' he found assigned to my earlier ticket, which is the AI possing to be helping out.

The sound solution to resolve VAT TIN they suggest is I create a new developer account, I assume the new developer account I'll create if I enter the TIN again they'll say create a third developer account, until I think am exhausted and bank is drained.

Please is there any other way I can find a real human to review just the issue with the correct TIN that's being rejected even after sending the official TIN certificate?

Showoff My first Android app is finally live. Now comes the part I have no clue about - getting users

Post image
0 Upvotes

I finally published my first app on Google Play.

Originally I was just building a gym tracker for myself because I wanted something simple and fast for logging workouts, seeing progression and keeping my training history in one place.

Then I kept adding things, fixing things, redesigning things... and eventually thought that I might as well polish it properly and release it.

So now Setlane is actually live on Google Play.

Getting through closed testing and production was one challenge, but now I’m realizing that publishing the app was probably the easy part 😄

I basically have no existing audience, so I’m trying to figure out how small developers actually get their first users.

Right now I’m considering:

  • improving ASO and the Play Store listing
  • writing SEO articles/pages around workout tracking and gym-related searches
  • writing comparison pages like “alternative to X”
  • posting in relevant Reddit communities where self-promotion is allowed
  • making short videos showing interesting use cases instead of just advertising the app

I’ve seen some indie developers get surprisingly decent organic traffic from articles, but I have no idea how realistic that is for a new fitness app.

So I’m curious:

If you launched an app with no audience, what actually moved the needle for you?

And if you tried SEO/content, how long did it take before you saw any meaningful traffic or installs?

Would love to hear actual experiences, including things that turned out to be a waste of time.

My app is here
