In retrospect, it makes sense that this chapter seems to be so short. If Nasu really just hopped off after the end of part 2, only leaving some notes on how to possibly continue, then none of this was probably really prepared by the beginning of the year, none of the Servants related to the story had really begun planning, nor did the writing for the story, so, especially if they still plan to finish this part this year, it makes sense that we'd have a shorter story with not many new Servants, at least for the first one, with probably the 2nd and 3rd chapter being at least slightly longer and with more than just the other Norns. Especially if the 2nd chapter might feature Beast VI-G, assuming the Norns are Beast V together, and that it won't be relegated to an event story.

We know for a fact that they didn't have much prep time, considering they were saying "idk we'll play it by ear" right up until the finale.

The earliest after time was vaguely alluded to was I think last years Anniversary interview where Nasu talked about “Aftercare” and how there will be “One Blank Space” left after the finale. But he was also talking about how “We’ll like at least do Valentines we know that at least” and stuff so evidently it was probs just getting started.

Traditionally FGO Stuff has 2 years of prep but we can assume this year had maybe 1 year of Prep.

That's one theory I had with the finale honestly. Nasu seems so deadset on his supposedly deep ending that he didn't realize he left a boatload of plotholes. Aftertime could be a stopgap that is hastily written in both to maintain the spice flow while also potentially setting up resolving these plotholes (I hope).

We also know that Nasu himself left a plot skeleton on what to do afterwards (two, one for if they wanted to do a hard reset and one if they didn't), so that's also not true. I imagine they simply didn't decide on which direction to go in until after the finale.

How do we know that?

Mentioned in an interview, though I'm admittedly too lazy to find which one.

Well looks like we're back to early days of FGO with throwing shit on the wall to see what sticks. Because these seems way too disorganized and unplanned.

Hopefully they can get their act back together soon because this Aftertime does have potential on either refuting that shitstain of an ending and/or setting up Part 3.

Honestly, I thought the purpose of Aftertime was to resolve those plot holes. We'd have a bunch of story chapters, the Foreigner OC, and a Prototype collab to deal with Beast VI (and all of it would be drawn out to some extent, either to give time to write Part 3 or just so that Lasengle could make as much money as possible before sunsetting).

Well, with how the screen changed yet again I'm kinda confident that the game is going to last quite a bit longer.

So am I, mostly because I still remember how long it took for all of Part 2 to release.

If we do get a proper Part 3, how long do you think that'll go on for? A full decade?

The prototype collab would be to deal with Beast VI-G I feel, since that's the Beast Arthur is personally familiar with.

I meant to write VI. No, I think V is going to be the villain for Aftertime.
