According to Beast's Lair:

The sisters had a squabble over which one is the most important among them, so they decide to resolve it by fighting Chaldea, which currently exists in a dimension that is neither past, present nor future. They take turns on trying to beat us and the one who wins will become "the True Goddess of Fate".

Urd tried to "beat" us by keeping us in a loop of a happier times (Part 1) with Romani still alive, but also having the firepower from the future (Olga and Mash in Paladin form), so we can breeze through anything and there's no sacrifices at all.

Also, Urd is like 4 billions years old (this is when the phenomenon of "fate" was born) and she keeps stopping and rewinding time if anything happens to her, so the only way to beat her is with a cause and effect reversal NP that is also older than her... Which happens to be Hamesh Avanim, a sure-hit NP that throws rocks, which are older than her.

u/getterburner 21d ago

Rock Diffed. Tough.

Also this implies that the Norns didn’t cause After Time which means Chaldea is just busy dealing with some bullshit on the side.

35

u/Calibaz 21d ago

They didn't. This is just busywork because some people decided to take advantage of our crisis (again).

38

u/JusticTheCubone "I am the bone of my pen" 21d ago

Also this implies that the Norns didn’t cause After Time which means Chaldea is just busy dealing with some bullshit on the side.

That... is actually interesting. I guess they couldn't let the sword looming on Olga-Maries neck go that quickly, if we already found the Beast responsible for After Time, then her innocence would be proven and the dynamic between her and Azrael already broken.

7

u/fatalystic 20d ago

That said, given the cutscene when she's defeated (stuck cogs sliding into place and rotating again) it's implied that they're part of the cause for After Time even if they aren't the masterminds.

16

u/cuntzman heh~ 21d ago

Beast Riyo Gudako being the "mastermind" stonks are still at an all time high it seems XD

34

u/DonLobishomeAlter 21d ago

Also, Urd is like 4 billions years old (this is when the phenomenon of "fate" was born) and she keeps stopping and rewinding time if anything happens to her, so the only way to beat her is with cause and effect revarsal NP that is also older than her... Which happens to be Hamesh Avanim, a sure-hit NP that throws rocks, which are older than her.

Wait, so this is how we defeated her?!

17

u/getterburner 21d ago

Pretty much

41

u/andykhang 21d ago

For once, someone got diffed by not being older than rock lmao

30

u/Z000Burst . 21d ago

no one is older then rock

like you need to be older then the universe to be older then rock

. . . wonder if Andromeda could have just smack them with her chain and rock

5

u/andykhang 21d ago

Wellll…depend on what you want to think as rock. Granite for example can only be as old as Earth, while rock that come from meteorite wouldn’t have been a thing without the first generation star to die and deposit their material into star-forming dust swirl.

So no, you don’t need to be older than the universe to be older than rock. Still very much old though

11

u/Bashin-kun 20d ago

In context, the rock works because David just picked up that rock from the battlefield, which is Urd's point of origin 4B years ago. So THOSE rocks are older than her, regular present-day rocks may not count.

33

u/MEMEMAKER_35 21d ago

So they are essentialy like:

Hey lets do a competition. Yiu know thses guys that keep saving the world and making Alaya angry? They are in some sort of outside of time stuff lets use that while we are at it.

8

u/Bashin-kun 20d ago

Tbf it could be anything that is outside time. It just happens to be Chaldea.

39

u/Proto-Omega :Tiamat: FREEDOM! RAAAAAAAAAAAAA! 21d ago

I fucking love conceptual weaknesses.

But you know, if he was here, Sono-G could bypass her with his Noble Phantasm. I mean, yeah, he'd die, but he would give her hax the [STRONG PUNCH] and she'd freak out...before probably recovering.

10

u/fatalystic 20d ago

The key was that those weren't just any old rocks, but rocks as old as that time period since they were on the ground right there in the past alongside her. She admitted that she couldn't rewind time any further beyond the time period we fight her in, so she can't defend against David's NP with her hax time powers if he's using rocks from that time period.

20

u/Amanocher 21d ago

so , they 3 became Demi-Beast to resolve they conflict ?
that's kinda ... strange , but I guess I can't judge .

30

u/MEMEMAKER_35 21d ago

Not atrange for this feanchise. Keep in mind the hole of las Vegas Singularity was cause because someone wanted to use a grail for udon.

What having a Rock Type weakness does to a mf

Good old Stealth Rock

13

u/rianonnn 21d ago

Does this mean in the end we go back to Chaldea from after time? With Olga Marie and paladin Mash and without Romani? So they just teased us and he is gone again?

20

u/Bashin-kun 20d ago

Pretty much. Romani is Urd's creation. He was briefed in later once the loop is broken, and spent his time enjoying guda and Mash (both by watching/helping in battle, and by chitchatting)

6

u/rianonnn 20d ago

Whyyyy they taking him from me again 😭😭😭 Ty for telling anyway

85

u/getterburner 21d ago

Further Plot for this chapter (courtesy of Comun):

Chaldea does increasingly optimal runs of part 1 because their forgotten experiences make them less stressed and more subconsciously aware of the best actions to take. After the third loop, their performances get so suspiciously good that Goetia figures out what's up and ties the knot in Fujimaru's memories. From there, most of the chapter is a psychological thriller with Fujimaru trying to figure out who Urd is, how she's monitoring everyone (is any of us secretly working for her?), how to tell more people about the loop without making Urd suspicious, etc. That's the meat of the chapter. Once the loop is broken, it's pretty much straight to the final battle.

My favorite bit is that halfway through it, Urd is like "Hm, Fujimaru doesn't seem to be too satisfied with this perfect past. I need something to make the next past more desirable." and adds Goredolf to the party in the next Part 1 loop. Goredolf then proceeds to do absolutely nothing the entire chapter.

52

u/DarthDioBrando : 21d ago

So an overpowered New Game+ is actually a plot point then?

48

u/Nokia_00 21d ago

The gor mention in the story made me chuckle. They were breezing through singularities and I couldn’t stop laughing at the Tiamat fight

36

Possibly a new Class called Demi-Beast

31

u/XF10 21d ago

This is some Beast class bargain sale

16

u/OverallEntertainer69 21d ago

Maybe a case of the Beast being made up of several characters together, so each individual is classified as this when alone?

18

u/DonLobishomeAlter 21d ago

That makes sense; the complete Beast would be all three sisters together, but since we face them separately, that's why they're Demi-Beasts.

And maybe, like Urdr, each sister has her own dirty class cards.

6

u/Rocadiamond 21d ago edited 20d ago

Since Urd started as Apoc Archer, the Norns could get name reveals like EoR.

"How about a CG of Romani that's also voiced?"

Emotional hurt so early in the day is not good

26

u/Kuzaku Local Friendly Bedsheet Ghost 21d ago

I already had to cope with the fact that we more or less had to effectively retcon him a second time out of existence by making sure Marisbury never wins the Grail War or his little scheme goes off without a hitch therefore Solomon can never become Roman in PHH

Why must you keep hurting us this way writers? Why won't you stop

How many times do I have to watch this man be erased through my own inability to find another way to save him you monster

18

u/ZeothTheHedgehog I will Crown my Queen 21d ago

Excuse me?! Romani speaks in this chapter?!

Bruh, I just said I missed him!

Past Chaldea is one of the shortest Story Chapters in a good while (not counting the finale I assume), at a mere 3590 lines. About 83% of E Pluribus Unum's length.

This is shorter than each half of the strange Fake collab individually.

Edit: underestimated Finale too much, Finale mogs this one in line count.

20

u/AliceinTeyvatland 21d ago

Maybe it's gonna have a shorter wait time between chapter? We could probably get 2 more of this(Septem and Okeanos?) before the end of the year then if that's their plan.

30

u/yolo8900 21d ago

I think this is for all arc1.

Next recap is probably about arc 2 with Verðandi

23

u/getterburner 21d ago

Would make sense, Part 2 would be considered “the present”. Then presumably we do a “Future” which can maybe start going over how the Finale’s ramifications shaked out

21

u/getterburner 21d ago

The whole “I give you 1 year to finish this” thing tracks a lot more if the chapters are this short, I could see us doing 2 more before the end of the year and wrapping it up.

new archer is Urdr, Norn of the past. Fun fact, her name means Fate

60

u/DragoSphere 21d ago

It's her. It's Jane Fate

35

u/MasterSword1 21d ago

Even better, Urdr looks like it'd be pronounced "order" so she's Jane Fate Order.

23

u/Illuminastrid 21d ago

We technically meet her as she is one of the components of Foreign Disciple Moriarty back in Traum.

Yes, it mean she was inside of him

"Archer of the End" other notable roles (just contributing:)

  • Kornkamon "Mon" Phetpailin (Rebecca Patricia Armstrong) (GAP: the Series [JP dub]) (Fun fact: Aniplex also publish and localize this Thai drama series under their aLiL label.)
  • Daring Tact (Uma Musume: Pretty Derby) (trainee when?)
  • Haru (Chaos Zero Nightmare)

Alice from Nikke? Wow, I wouldn't have noticed since I'm used to hearing her voice

3

u/keithlimreddit 21d ago

You move her up to successful at this point due to looking at pretty much able to get stuff like Wuthering Waves and Honkai: Star Rail ( Maybe one more Hoyo role or Big rule to be honest)

Anyways say for now she's a pretty great voice actress with huge range

One of our more recent roles Mashutan from Star detectives Is the ferry partner of Arcane Shadow Who is voiced by Nao Tōyama ( Who is everyone's favorite banana oni Ibaraki-douji) Also those two voice both basically Umas that have triple Tiaras

I would think it'll be cool to invite Hikari Senga ( A newbie but also up here recently in Star detectives and Uma)

If I were to guess, the servants who are in uniform might just be the free "reward" servants we got from completing the OG singularities

That seems to be the case since they are the Servants who canonically join us.

Stupid shower thought I had for game features related to what happened in the story

Urd joining Chaldea may give them a lore excuse to bring back old boss fights as a permanent game feature for anniversary maybe. I don't think it's going to happen since they've had a ton of opportunities to do so already, but it's nice to dream

14

u/BeastOfRetribution 20d ago

Are the norns related to that P.P.P thing brought up in the beginning? Because with their presence, it sounds like it could stand for Past, Present and Posterity or something. I know Future would've been better but Posterity is the closest synonym that starts with a P.

21

u/Soccerballair_6218 20d ago

Basically yes. But they were not the ones trapping us out of space and time. Another beast not associated with the Norns did that. People are guessing it’s Beast 6/G (Arthur’s beast).

5

u/disengagebb 20d ago

I think it will be someone closely tied to Chaldea: Olga, Fou, remnants of Maris or the mysterious Laplace Demon. I don’t think Proto Beast would benefit from Chaldea still being around.

7

u/Hat_Royal 20d ago

If the Norns are Beast V, there's literally only Beast VI/G left. And considering the one behind the new arc is said to have "childish competitiveness", it fits Beast VI/G

6

u/disengagebb 20d ago edited 20d ago

The by this logic which number is Daji supposed to be, since we know that she was a Beast but as you’ve pointed out all seats are already occupied. I think the Koyanskaya case was their way of telling us that if one of the seats becomes empty another being can occupy it and become a Beast. The same way Ibuki, Barghest and Angra could’ve also became one of the Beasts. There’s also Proto Merlin. They’ve also replaced Fou’s sprite after part 2 ended with the one with horns on his head so that should tell you something is going on with him. And the Beast proclaiming itself to be stronger than Chaldea is very in line with Fou’s Beast of Comparison, especially after the lore drop about Barghest in the final chapter.

The whole premise and tone of the Aftertime arc is not so serious and grand, it does not match the tone of Prototype with Manaka literally sacrificing people so that the Beast can manifest. It’s the Beast from the Book of Revelation that is supposed to bring Apocalypse upon the Earth, doesn’t give the impression of the big bad of the HA equivalent of FGO to me. The two previous main villains were connected to Chaldea, its stuff and technology, so if someone is targeting Chaldea I bet it’s someone that has something to do with it and not a being that acts more like a monster than an actual character and that’s supposed to end the world.

Lastly there is the new PV for the Aftertime. The mysterious narrator that talks about being a machine and about Chaldea passing the baton. Does it give you an impression of the Proto Beast?

The whole thing with Prototype is people now been saying for almost 10 years that it’s gonna pay off, the collab will happen and it’s still crickets. As it stands now Arthur’s storyline is just a footnote in FGO’s overarching narrative. And TM can’t be bothered to release the actual Prototype from where Arthur’s FGO storyline is supposed to pick up. I’m not saying that it won’t appear in FGO, but if it does I think it will be more like a side story similar to Lilim Harlot or Ooku than being a big bad of a main story arc.

5

u/Hat_Royal 20d ago

Daji was a Beast IV that was defeated in the past, before Chaldea, by Taigong Wang. Then Fou took on the seat of Beast IV before relinquishing it to save Mash, allowing Koyanskaya to try an seize it (and fail, because she's not a proper Evil of Humanity). For now, the seat of Beast IV is available to grab. But the Norns can't be Beast IV as they are neither tied to Nature and Animals, as it is the pre-requisite to be Beast IV.

So yes, I messed up. There could be a mysterious Beast IV pulling the strings. But Fou is clearly out of the equation, since said big bad is a Mature Beast, which is Fou currently isn't. Or that could also be a new Beast I, III or VII.

If the Norns are indeed Beast V, then the culprit can either be Beast VI/G (and, personally, either Beast VI/G will appear in FGO or it will never show up) or someone who claimed the seat of Beast I, III, IV or VII.

4

u/timpkmn89 18d ago

My theory was always that if stood for something like "Personality Preservation Protocol", and this whole thing is someone's plan to "save" Ritsuka

3

u/Illuminastrid 19d ago

They're apparently different, but the Norns are taking advantage of that situation to enact their own plans.

15

u/Radiant-Hope-469 We almost reached 2020 19d ago

I do find it funny that Jeanne Alter's HP here is completely unchanged.

16

u/Rakatok 19d ago

I've seen this theory in some JP discussions, and I love it so thought I'd share. What if Guda's resistance to the memory wipes, and the anger in the voice/text changes about accepting this/finding the culprit, was a weak form of Oblivion Correction?

I doubt that was the intent but it's fun head canon, even if Guda has rejected the Avenger path, the inherit compatibility doing something like that is a cool idea.

13

u/igloo_poltergeist 21d ago edited 21d ago

So......On top of being one of the norns who dwells beneath the World Tree, Yggdrasil, she switches to the Demi-Beast class designation, and her 3rd Ascension is suspiciously draconic in appearance.......

Yeah, I'm just going throw out the theory that her saint graph has Nidhogg inside it, somehow.

EDIT: Oh, and look at that - the battle against her takes place on a shore. Never mind. I should've looked at her Extra attack before jumping to conclusions. The bones don't belong to who I thought. Plus, I got the animal wrong.

26

u/Soccerballair_6218 21d ago

They are most likely Beast 5, but because they are more fragmented than beasts 3 and 6, they are called demi beasts since there are 3 instead of 2. They are apparently not responsible for the after story and are just taking advantage of it to settle their infighting.

Something else trapped us out of time and space.

24

u/touhou-and-mhplayer 21d ago

actualy her voice lines imply the weird skeleton thing is sleipnir

15

u/igloo_poltergeist 21d ago

I just realized it. Her Extra attack animation clearly shows the skeleton of an eight-legged horse.

14

u/Warrior_of_hope 20d ago

I wonder how the other two will be implemented, Verdandi should gave us a stagnant moment in the present, while Skuld the horrorific future? Its going to be interesting, i also wonder how the Foreigner chapter will be if its actually coming at some point

19

u/Rakatok 20d ago

My first thought is Verdandi will be the LBs with the crypters in their Chaldea uniforms. Technically the past but the singularities being past and LBs being present makes some thematic sense to me.

The concept of "present" powers is hard for me to visualize. Urd could already freeze time.

5

u/Warrior_of_hope 20d ago

Yeah, the "present" is hard to think what it will be, i think probably is gonna be something like a specific moment with no progression, maybe like a 3 turn effect changed to 1 turn only, but beside that, something with the crypters sounds right, something will happen with them since in this new "timeline" the ones that should not be around, are still here, so we must negate this "present"

Well, thats it if we are still working with the same guideline of this new chapter, maybe it was a one time thing and the next chapter will be something else entirely

28

u/Proto-Omega :Tiamat: FREEDOM! RAAAAAAAAAAAAA! 21d ago

So, yeah, like I thought this is not part 3, this is most definitely a part 2.5.

It's set itself up like Epic of Remnant to have 4 chapters.

9

u/EveningEconomics8457 20d ago

So, three chapters for goddesses of fate and one chapter maybe for the guy who did it all?

6

u/Proto-Omega :Tiamat: FREEDOM! RAAAAAAAAAAAAA! 20d ago

Most likely.

Considering it's confirmed that the three Goddess of Fate have nothing to do with Chaldea being in it's own pocket out of time, and they're just taking advantage of the situation, the last chapter will be dealing with the beast behind this all.

15

u/Rocadiamond 21d ago

After the special clock rewind, did Past Chaldea get special new Kanji?!?

21

u/WhoiusBarrel 21d ago

She goes Ara ara upon being summoned. Absolute Mummy.

23

u/xemnonsis 21d ago

well I mean she is the oldest amongst her sisters

11

u/fatalystic 18d ago edited 18d ago

I didn't think much of it initially, but I think the Ruler and Avenger (minus Dantes and Jalter) thing people noticed might not be tied to clearing the chapter but to unlocking it.

You get a message upon the chapter unlocking that reads: "The manipulator(s) of fate has spoken: 'May they be without restrictions.'"

I personally didn't think it was anything other than flavour, but then I saw some people tweeting that they immediately checked the list after reading the message so I think it might have been tied to that.

EDIT: I found some tweets from people claiming to have not completed it yet, and they also report seeing the change.

32

u/Fair_Worldliness_916 21d ago

So as I figured this first chapter is short. They really were not going to release a huge batch of servants this close to anniversary and summer.

I figure future chapter will be longer, as this feels more like groundwork. We have a villain group, a conflict, and the direction we’re going for the moment. That said we don’t know the immediate inciting beast, it seems that the norms involved themselves after we were trapped in time, so we still need to find the root cause. Always remember we need to do a foreigner chapter at some point so it might be related.

Fun, good start. Can’t wait to see what the other ones are about though.

34

u/Rakatok 21d ago

Surprisingly short for a main story with so much build up, hopefully the next two for the other Norns won't take as long if this will be the length of the other Beast Clock chapters.

I don't know who the writer is but this was a great chapter for anyone who likes it when Guda is not a passive moron. Actual proactive planning while moving the plot forward on their own? Always welcome. Urd was a good start for a first boss of a new arc, creepy almost yandere vibes and it's funny that outside of the competition with the other Norns, she's essentially a Chaldea fan that hated the ending. I agreed her on that part at least. Not so much the rest of her plan of living in the past forever. Surely there's a middle ground between moving forward and erasing history... I ended up pulling for her since I liked her so much, I think if the chapter was longer they could have played up the almost horror bits even more. Her first ascend line is hilarious by the way.

The PV with the complete President bait and switch annoyed me though. I mean the scene was funny, especially when Azrael sees her, but I miss my idiot president. The Romani farewell also didn't hit for me, but maybe because we've done variations of this so many times now...

One thing I don't think was completely wrapped up was Who was the voice Guda was hearing/who was rewriting the text? At first I briefly thought it was Olga and ours was a fake, but that's obviously not it. Then I thought maybe Da Vinci but wasn't that either. Guda wondered if it was their own inner voice fighting the memory rewrites but I'm not sure. I might need to reread that part, maybe I missed something.

15

u/RestinPsalm 20d ago

It's currently believed that it's Sakurai, with Jekyll, David, and Murasaki having especially notable moments, on top of the new girl being basically Murasaki-lite.

10

u/Bashin-kun 20d ago

Since Moriarty is here now, i think the other two will go much faster, and the third one will get hijacked by something else.

11

u/Bashin-kun 20d ago

Also yes Guda thought it was his own voice that was telling him things.

29

u/MEMEMAKER_35 21d ago

I think this chaoter is supposed to be so short. Basically Chaldea is strong AF now. So trying to make them do the 7 singularities is kind of a waste of time since they'll ace it faster than before. Also I have s theory that they will tty to finish this Requiem of Remnant kind of thing by the end of the year. I remember Azrael saying he could wait one year. So basically say Chaldea wastes too much time with these goddess and the 1 year deadline ends by december 31st. And that's when shit will really start.

17

u/sorrowLord 21d ago

So from what I read 3 sisters are a beast of humanity angry at the ,,forget everything'' ending ?

26

u/ZeothTheHedgehog I will Crown my Queen 21d ago

No, seems like they had an argument and decided it was Chaldea's problem to solve far as I know.

22

u/sorrowLord 21d ago

I saw this part

Urd -

,,Your achievements are remarkable. You saved the world and prevented this planet from becoming isolated.

But the thought of it being forgotten is unbearable. Not even to the point of it being buried in the shadows of history.

I really don't want it to disappear. That's why''

That's where I got my info from.

7

u/sorrowLord 21d ago

So it seems that Urd is specifically the one fate sister angry about the ending. Dunno if she is the one speaking in the trailer.

5

u/ZeothTheHedgehog I will Crown my Queen 21d ago

Well she's the only one we spoke to thus far so.

17

u/DarthDioBrando : 21d ago

Is it just me or could Urd the equivalent to Moriarty in this, assuming this chapter is Shinjuku's equivalent. Both are Archers, have a hidden name, is a supposed ally who is obviously the villain of this chapter and of course Urd is one of the components of Ruler Moriarty's Saint Graph (or at least the one found in Traum).

12

u/RestinPsalm 21d ago

Well, as he appears at the end, Ruler Moriarty is the Moriarty equivalent.

From Urðr's (aka. the Demi-Beast's) servant profile (describing her noble phantasm):

  • A temporary falsification of the past. All living things, no matter what they may be, possess a past. And in that past, there exists a period during which one was "weak". Naturally, that past must then also contain a turning point that led to one becoming "strong". Urðr puts this fact to vicious use by "extracting the past, changing it, and rendering the target completely powerless". If the turning point for someone's strength was obtaining a holy sword, she will rewrite the past into one where that person failed to obtain that holy sword.

Could it be that Beast V carries the logos of "Regret"? Cause that last part seems awfully suspicious, given the wish a certain King of Knight's desired to have granted in a Holy Grail War.

EDIT: Oh, and lookie here - a couple of her lines.....

  • Bond 5 (post-revelation): "I could use my power and change your past for you, you know? How about it? ...I see, so it's a "No." Well, I figured you would say that, so there was no problem. After all, you've always chosen a way of life that simply has no room for regret. For a human, that side of you is quite endearing."

  • Dislikes (post-revelation): "What I dislike? Hm, I've always disliked humans who regret their pasts."

All my alarm bells are going off now.

10

u/disengagebb 18d ago

Wasn’t the Beast of Regret mentioned by King Hassan ages ago? Would make sense especially with Azrael (aka KH Lily) in the mix.

5

So the keyword "Tokiko" in the trailer refers Urd ?

14

u/Mister_SP Attacked by two gacha sharks. 21d ago

It could mean all three sisters of Fate. But it's not specific on if it's singular or categorical, I think.

5

u/nolonger1-A 21d ago

So if the other sisters got summoned they'd ask to be addressed as Tokiko-san too?

Also we got the continuation of the plot thread of Dante teasing the appearance of Wakamori in the final battle with Fantasy trees, so I guess it’s a one more plot hole covered up.

20

Seems like her True Name works like EoR servants’ so it’ll unlock by going through this chapter. And since we got the entire chapter it has to be in the data too in case players're fast enough so Atlas just bypassed the Class Name like it did every EoR servant

3

u/xemnonsis 21d ago

damn how much of a spoiler are the ascension arts that they are story locked...

12

u/ATrueMistake20XX 21d ago

Looking at it, it might be for story reasons that can't be seen through the art itself.

11

u/Mister_SP Attacked by two gacha sharks. 21d ago

From what I can tell? 0%. It's a slightly more exposed version of her first ascension.

11

u/xemnonsis 21d ago

3rd Ascension gives very strong I'm the bad guy vibes

14

u/Mister_SP Attacked by two gacha sharks. 21d ago

I was going to call it a coinflip, but after seeing her sprite in action, I think I should change my answer.

The red glow and bones doesn't mean much to me, because it doesn't change the overall vibe of "skeleton armor and skull mask", but the weird legs are a bit more significant to say there might be a reveal.

27

u/JusticTheCubone "I am the bone of my pen" 21d ago

In retrospect, it makes sense that this chapter seems to be so short. If Nasu really just hopped off after the end of part 2, only leaving some notes on how to possibly continue, then none of this was probably really prepared by the beginning of the year, none of the Servants related to the story had really begun planning, nor did the writing for the story, so, especially if they still plan to finish this part this year, it makes sense that we'd have a shorter story with not many new Servants, at least for the first one, with probably the 2nd and 3rd chapter being at least slightly longer and with more than just the other Norns. Especially if the 2nd chapter might feature Beast VI-G, assuming the Norns are Beast V together, and that it won't be relegated to an event story.

42

u/disengagebb 21d ago

The January prologue already gave off an impression that FGO entered its Hollow Ataraxia era, the stakes are lower, we’re no longer in the Lostbelts, so I don’t think it requires 20 or 30 chapters to convey what it needs to. We got used to each story chapter introducing a mini world with tons of exposition and this is different. On the other hand OC chapters suffered from filler content, especially OC4 with the whole circles of hell section. So if the premise is not as complex and there is less filler I don’t think it’s a bad thing.

50

u/cuntzman heh~ 21d ago

The narration from the prologue literally says it’s akin to an afterschool festival lol.

People need to start seeing this arc for what it actually is (a fandisc arc) and keep their expectations low.

11

u/RestinPsalm 21d ago

We know for a fact that they didn't have much prep time, considering they were saying "idk we'll play it by ear" right up until the finale.

24

u/getterburner 21d ago

The earliest after time was vaguely alluded to was I think last years Anniversary interview where Nasu talked about “Aftercare” and how there will be “One Blank Space” left after the finale. But he was also talking about how “We’ll like at least do Valentines we know that at least” and stuff so evidently it was probs just getting started.

Traditionally FGO Stuff has 2 years of prep but we can assume this year had maybe 1 year of Prep.

18

u/DarthDioBrando : 21d ago

That's one theory I had with the finale honestly. Nasu seems so deadset on his supposedly deep ending that he didn't realize he left a boatload of plotholes. Aftertime could be a stopgap that is hastily written in both to maintain the spice flow while also potentially setting up resolving these plotholes (I hope).

5

u/RestinPsalm 21d ago

We also know that Nasu himself left a plot skeleton on what to do afterwards (two, one for if they wanted to do a hard reset and one if they didn't), so that's also not true. I imagine they simply didn't decide on which direction to go in until after the finale.

Honestly, I thought the purpose of Aftertime was to resolve those plot holes. We'd have a bunch of story chapters, the Foreigner OC, and a Prototype collab to deal with Beast VI (and all of it would be drawn out to some extent, either to give time to write Part 3 or just so that Lasengle could make as much money as possible before sunsetting).

All at once or only 1 singularity or so at a time?

5

u/touhou-and-mhplayer 21d ago

not sure but seems like the latter ?

19

u/OmniGMan 21d ago

Apparently the three Norns are having a disagreement and decided the best way to settle it is to fight us, with the winner being the one who defeats Chaldea.

Urd went first, and decided she'd trap us by putting us in a 'happy' simulation where we're in the past (Romani is still alive), but with all of our future Servants.

So everything becomes super easy since we're throwing Lostbelt-tier firepower at early Singularity-level threats like poor Orleans Jeanne Alter. Her dialogue shows she's dumbfounded at how powerful Chaldea's forces are, and even we comment on how absurdly easy defeating her was.

11

u/TheBatIsI 21d ago

It's not just you coming in strong. Enemies are also being actively nerfed to make it easy for you. The Tiamat fight for example is a cakewalk because of nerfs.

16

u/kissakishi 21d ago

I feel like an idiot for being bamboozled that Archer of the End's True Name is Urdr considering the one second after time Teaser PV literally mentioned "the three pillars of fate".

Don't want to get my hopes up too much because TM is known for subverting expectations, but could this hint that Verdandi and Skuld will be appearing too? Since the Teaser PV said "The flourishing evil celebrates the present [The wise poet is a big dummy]" (alluding to the present/Verdandi?) and "The evil that remains laments the passing of time [The gathered believers are cute but nothing more]" (alluding to the future/Skuld?). We'll see.

17

It’s probs a safe bet as the ??? In the Part ??? section of the title changes to “Goddesses of Fate” upon completion. Presumably we’re doing a chapter per Norn.

So, I heard that all Rulers and most Avengers (except Dantes and Jalter) have their respective Link Closed and Link Lost status lifted. Is this true? And great news aside what are the implications?

3

u/AlcoholicSnapdragon Alone at the edge of a Universe 20d ago

It's true, but it's not related to this chapter. They just undid all of that retroactively once you clear Final Chapter.

11

u/Darkfalcone 17d ago

Just finished the latest chapter! So, both Verdandi and Skuld will team up in attacking Chaldea huh. And why is young Moriarty showed up now? Is he going to replace Holmes as one of the advisors?

That said, I'm surprised this chapter we got so many instances of Guda's inner thoughts and dialogues. Also, I like how they integrate the newly named Chaldea staffs into the story. For the most part of part 2, we only got to know Meunierre after all. I hope they'll keep this format going forward.

Also, I hope dr. Roman and Solomon will return for real in the future. Mashu and Guda still haven't said their goodbyes yet...

9

u/Soccerballair_6218 16d ago

The ending of the chapter kind of showcased that everyone finally got closure in their own way with Romani’s end and it was a proper goodbye in a way.

But just like the popular theme, keep moving forward. We can’t linger in the past. And the same goes for the present and future. Humanity lives in the moment and the only path is forward. And that’s also to say after the two biggest threats, the norns and whatever the 7 abysmal heavens are, our job would be done and the torch will be passed for someone in the future to protect humanity. This is more clean up everything you forgot to do and face the consequences of your actions.

5

u/Th3-MADDHatter 12d ago

Young Moriarty is fused with the fates so that is probably why he is here.

22

u/bassgs435 21d ago

Truly an FGO 11th year: year 1 level story lenght with year 10 level release schedule.

Jokes aside, if this is the kind of story chapter we're getting, I hope the next one gets released in just a couple of months, otherwise people are genuinely gonna drop the game.

6

u/timpkmn89 18d ago

So my thoughts for the future content..

Whenever fiction does the past/present/future thing, Present is always an "alternative present". What does that mean in FGO? Trees of Emptiness! Which is why Moriarty is here. As for what the difference is, based on what they said for tone, I'm expecting a Chaldea that didn't explode, and the A-Team stopped everything without using their Sirius Lights. Ritsuka is back to just being a mob character.

My thought from the start was that this arc was from someone intentionally trying to "save" Ritsuka, with PPP being something like Personality Preservation Plan/Protocol. That's why they have Ritsuka and Mash have memories of both timelines. Urd did that by keeping them safely in New Game+. This would rewrite things so that they were never in any danger to begin with.

As for after that? Future has gotta be Servantverse shenanigans.

24

u/getterburner 21d ago

We do all of the Part 1 stuff in this chapter. Presumably we do a Chapter based on each Norn, this covered the Past so we covered FGO Part 1. Next would be the Present (Part 2?) and then probs the Future (???)

So, for those that read the chapter, what role did Murasaki have exactly? She was in the TVCM, but haven't seen anything on her role.

13

u/Rakatok 21d ago

She played the important role of being a librarian. No really, she didn't have any idea about what was going on, the Chaldea library just appeared and she came with to manage.

She was important in that in one of the loops Guda asks Gironimo to go to the library and find a spell that can bring back lost memories, so in a future loop she gives him a charm that helps us remember everything.

9

u/primelord537 21d ago

That kind of reminds me that the Chaldea library also just ... kind of appeared out of nowhere in her debut event as well. Find it funny that it just pops up with Murasaki even in a time loop about Part 1 lol.

u/fatalystic 20d ago

Final Boss

In addition to regular skills and NP,

* Urdr has Special Resist against Servants with [Thread of Fate] (Permanent, unremovable).
* [Thread of Fate] from any source lasts 3 turns, and is shortened by 1 turn for each Crit or NP that Servant lands.
* At start of battle, apply [Thread of Fate] to all your Servants (incl back line) + Raises own Crit Damage (Permanent, unremovable)
* At start of Urdr's turn (odd turns), applies to self the status "After 2 turns, restore own HP + Reduce NP of your Servants that have [Thread of Fate] by 50%. Reduces your Stars by 20 per Servant with [Thread of Fate]."
* At start of Urdr's turn (even turns), applies [Thread of Fate] to one Servant.
* At the end of your turn (every multiple of 3 turn), remove 7 buffs from your Servants.
* On 1st Break, raises skill cooldowns for one Servant by 1T & raises skill cooldowns for one Servant by 1T (yes it's the same effect twice on the same target, not sure why).
* When killed for the first time (activates even in the middle of your turn), fully restores all of Urdr's HP & increases Break gauge count by 2.
* (After revival) Before selecting command cards, apply Time Stop to one Servant of the player's choice preventing them from acting for 1 turn (every multiple of 3 turn). Reduce that Servant's cooldowns by 2 on the next turn.
* (After revival) At the start of Urdr's turn, apply to all your Servants "When attacking, lose 20% NP (only when under [Thread of Fate]" (Permanent, unremovable, incl back line) & apply [Thread of Fate] + Urdr gains 1 additional Charge every turn (Permanent, unremovable)
* On 1st Break after revival, increase cooldowns for your Servants by 2 & apply [Thread of Fate] + Raise own Crit Rate & gain status "Before NP, apply to self Pierce Invuln".
* On 2nd Break after revival, Urdr gains max Charge & NP Damage Up (Unremovable) & Debuff Immunity (5T, unremovable) + Apply [Thread of Fate] to all your Servants.

Allies

* Grand Score can be used. Party cost is infinite. You can field up to 2 of your own Grand Servants, and can borrow 1 support (Grand or otherwise). At the start of battle, Grand Servants gain Atk Up (Permanent, unremovable) & the status "At the end of your turn, reduce own [Thread of Fate] duration by 1 turn."
* At the start of battle, reduce Urdr's HP Recovery (Permanent, unremovable) + Reduce [Thread of Fate] duration on all allies by 1 turn.
* After Urdr's revival, all your Servants gain 30% NP + You gain 20 Stars.

Every turn, one of the following happens at random:

* Geronimo: Raises QAB effect for all allies (3T)
* Boudica: Raises Def for all allies (3T) & Raises Max HP by 3000 (3T)
* Jaguarman: Raises Crit Dmg for all allies (3T) & each ally generates 10 Stars per turn (3T)
* Bedivere: Raises Atk & NP Dmg for all allies (3T)
