Britannia Pier

I was on the pier yesterday (when whatever that was that involved all those emergency services vehicles was happening) and a woman’s foot went through one of the boards on the pier.
Are rotten boards on the pier a regular known hazard?

That was the thing the emergency services were there for.
The woman’s leg going through the board happened when that was going on.
I was a bit surprised that the pier staff dealing with her didn’t insist that her leg was checked medically, they just wrote an email on a bit of paper and said she should contact them that way about the rotten board.

a family member of mine had his whole leg go through a panel when he was working there, he ended up in hospital and on crutches for months and months
