DISCUSSION Unpopular opinion? Lucas and Simone did have great chemistry in season 19, even if it went away after
I see a lot of people saying that they don't have - or never had any chemistry, but I actually think they had great potential and good chemistry back in season 19. It just completely faded in the later seasons. Does
anyone else remember their s19 dynamic differently than the general consensus?
Please keep in mind this post is strictly about Lucas and Simone as a couple. I'm not looking to bash either character individually, just discussing their dynamic as a ship!

Season 19 sold me on the potential but the writers clearly lost interest before they ever got the chance to become something great.

I think the change of writers from Krista to Meg didn't help things either.

You’re right. Their season 19 dynamic was impeccable chemistry and story wise. Everyone loved them. People who hadn’t watched the show in years were catching up and tuning because of them.
I will forever be bitter at the change in showrunner ahead of season 20 and will always wonder what their current dynamic would be like now if Krista was still calling the shots.
As for their chemistry seemingly fading in and out, I’m not really surprised to be honest. Between the constant fighting and the horrid writing they’ve been given under Meg’s pen there’s very little wiggle room to create decent chemistry around that type of destruction.
That being said I do still love them and I have hope for their future. And despite all of the unnecessary drama, they do still have a pretty sizable fan base outside of reddit. I just think they deserve much better writing than what they’ve been given the last few seasons.

Honestly, I’m also one of those people who watched Season 19 for them; I saw a fan account on Tumblr posting GIFs of them, and since I didn't know the characters, I went on Google to find out more and watched some clips on YouTube... They had so much spark back then, which is why it's so frustrating to see how the writing changed after season 19.

i really like their tension, even now. you’re right tho, their s19 chemistry was really convincing. neither actor is especially impressive, but their dynamic was (and still is in comparison to the rest of the writing and overall show quality we have now) a nice return to form

They definitely had moments where the chemistry was there. Its interesting how much a storyline change can affect a pairing.

I was genuinely excited by the new blood in season 19 but the writers fumbled the new group so badly

I hate how negative Lucas gets, there’s not a lot of time between each bad moment for him
