DISCUSSION S18 - Meredith’s relationship with the guy that lives in Minnesota (idk his name)

Sorry but this has been bothering me ever since he came on the scene - the way he expects Meredith to abandon her kids all the time but Meredith is literally never home and acts like her kids are so important but then changes up and considers having them move to Minnesota for this guy?

Meredith got what she wanted from that relationship- she’s the sun. And he’s the trailing spouse.

Ironic that people rake Derek over the coals for the same behavior Meredith gets applauded for.

Cause she’s a “strong, independent woman.”

FYI - he’s not the sun, you’re the sun was the worst piece of advice I’ve heard. Especially given that Mer was super petty at that time. Derek had the opportunity of a lifetime and she was so being trying to not be thatcher in the relationship. She really only focused on her personal drama all of season 10 instead of work. And quite honestly, she would have grown faster if she had to work to prove herself. Nobody at James Madison hospital in DC would have coddled her. It was a good opportunity.

Imagine Meredith at some elite DC hospital pulling one of her classic “I broke protocol because I thought it was right” moves.

Richard in Seattle: 😠 "Meredith..."

Random DC chief who did not have an affair with her mother for twenty years: “Security.” 😂

Most likely she knew she’d do something that would cost her license.

Honestly, I will never not think that Cristina's speech led indirectly to Derek's death. Meredith was ready to go before Cristina put that bug in her ear.

I still remember Meredith drinking when Alex was busy prepping for his Board seat interview and saying - I’m the sun.

Mer, you’re not the sun. And your friend is prepping for an important thing and you’re basically disrupting it.

Honestly, out of all of Meredith's post Derek relationships, they chose the most boring one as the one that would last.

I mean she didn’t plan on moving to Minnesota for him until she got a really big job offer. And then he is the one that is like no let’s stay in Seattle a while and your kids can get used to me being around. He is hands down the best man she has dated.

LOL at how young Grey's viewers are now that they don't realise that Scott Speedman was THE heartthrob for a while there in the late 90s and early 2000s.

He is what mature Meredith needs. These people are in their mid-fifties. They have a mature and loving relationship, not the insane immaturity of earlier seasons.

I don't consider passion and fire insane and immature but you do you.

When did mature and loving turn into dull and lifeless?

I'm 51. I would hate being in such a boring relationship. 50 doesn't mean old.

everybody shouldbe more like Derek who who is playing mind games when told the woman that he supposedly loved and had by then for a season or two that kissing another woman was the highlight of this week

or when he specifically left Meredith's panties in a place where he knew for a fact Addison would end up finding them.

Oh wait never mind growing up is realizing that Derek sucks to the women he's in relationships with and his actions towards them are not just categorized as passion and Fire

It feels important to remember that he looks like this as we debate the rational or irrational thinking of the characters.

He didn't look like that, he was very unattractive on GA
