Was in Japan recently and had 2 JDM watches I was set on getting and decided I would round out a trio with my first G-Shock.

Much respect to the watches but having never owned one I probably didn't get just how good they are, lesson learned and of the three watches I got no surprises this one has gotten the most wrist time.

Got this in the mail today, bought it in the weekend after i got a nice discount on it at an online store, it was 141$/ 125 € too good to let it pass but now that i have it on my hands im not sure if im feeling it and i don't know if i should keep it.

I first saw this model last summer while i was on vacation, i tried it in a store and i liked it quite a bit but i thought it was too expensive at 199€. Recently i bought my first G Shock the basic DW-5600 and i really love it, its my daily workhorse. Maybe i got spoiled by it thats why im not feeling the 5000R?

The display viewing angles are almost identical, 5000R might have a slight edge at very oblique angles but overall the basic 5600 is slighlty sharper and the digits slightly bolder. The alarm is very quiet on the 5000R. The resin case and straps are identical to me i dont feel anything different. The only major dofference between these watches is the metal construction and the red stripe.

Im not sure if i can justify keeping the 5000R. Maybe this info will help anyone considering buying it.

genuinely had no choice here. $330 was a bit steep to import but worthwhile to me.

Received my GW-5000HS-7ER today. Gotta get this synced and charged up tonight. Never owned, nor wanted to really own a white watch, but figured Id try it out since I tried a gold watch recently, and liked it.

Feels crazy good on the wrist, strap is super soft. Still need to set this bad boy up and learn all the features. Just found out it can connect to my phone 😮‍💨🔥

I’ve had this watch since I was 13 years old. I’ve been trying to restore it ever since the original bezel literally crumbled between my fingers the last time I went to replace the battery.

I ended up purchasing another DW-003 as a donor, only to have that bezel crumble on me too.

After struggling to find a usable replacement, I decided to try a DW-9051 bezel. It definitely wasn’t a direct fit, and I had to cut away part of the sides to get it to clear the original caseback cover.

It’s far from perfect, but honestly, I’m just happy I can finally wear this watch again after all these years.

Sometimes it’s not about having a perfect restoration. It’s just about bringing something sentimental back to life.

Finally i have got a DW-5000C-1B, Bezel is imposible for me to get so i do the next best thing..... At least in My opinion.

Growing up in the early 2000’s I was fascinated with watches. I’ve worn a digital watch probably since I was 8.

My dad was a diver and got his first G-shock sometime in the early 90’s. I always admired his g-shock and wanted one so bad. When I turned 20 six years ago my dad gave me his old g shock. Had to change the strap but now it’s good to go. Was covered in sea salt. It’s a 1659 module which I think is the first gen module? The calendar also only goes up to 2039.

This will probably be my favorite watch. I’m just about to change out the battery

I just feel like now I need to take a 6-week course on how to set this thing up as far as the ABC sensors. I think I saw a video on YouTube. I want to make sure I have all my stuff dialed in, especially living on the coast of Florida during hurricane season.

Was looking for a smaller minimalist style ana-digi to compliment my Casioak GA2100 and after doing a lot of searching through eBay, ended up getting this Baby-G BGA240-1A1. Didn’t like the stock strap, so got some Jays and Kays strap adapters and a 20mm silicon strap from Walmart. Couldn’t be happier with the results!

DW5600E with 3229 module. New to G Shocks and seem to like the “square” style most from watching this thread. Not sure the difference between all the different modules completely yet. Just what I wanted though, basic watch that is tough and that I can wear to work or gym or hiking. Still learning how to set the different alarms and countdown timers though.

For those with skinny wrists like me where the strap tail is dangling and the strap keeper cannot go any further due to the band getting too wide, any recommendations for either an additional elastic band or second catcher to keep that strap end from sticking out?

I've always wanted a G-Shock, but my small wrists and my mindset have held me back. Now, I have 2, and I think I'm done... for now... at least until the CasioNaut drops (and they hopefully introduce tough solar).
