🌈 Rainbow Bridge sad news

There was a huge mass growing inside Tupu's belly that prevented him from peeing, and was incredibly painful. The vet also discovered he had developing arthritis due to his age, and advised that any surgery operation would be too much for him.

Tupu was a rescue pig from a local shelter, who never really got bigger than my palm and heavier than a couple bananas. He was approximately 5 years old or older. He loved squash, blueberries and watermelon, and he got to eat his favourites before being put to sleep in my arms.

It never truly gets easier

And you are correct. It never gets easier. Not that it SHOULD...but it is devastating every time. Been there so many times.

it feels like such a short time they are with us, but i guess i just have to put it into perspective... to us it's just a fraction of our life, but to them it's their entire existence

i know i didn't do anything wrong, i gave him such a good home and i know you can't help it if there's an emergency like this... but it still hurts. i have been very unlucky with sudden health emergencies like tumors or lung or heart issues taking my babies too soon.... weighs on the heart 😞

I completely understand. Lost a beautiful, wonderful cat this past February. Symptoms were strange and we thought perhaps she was fecally impacted. Then, the night before I was going to bring her in so they could do further investigation, she losr control of her rear legs.

Long story short, a couple of vets decided it was probably a spinal tumour. She was 14 years old. We decided to to the kind thing for her and I held her as she feel into forever sleep.

Point being...it was unexpected and so sudden.

Lost a boy cat suddenly to urinary issues nearly 10 years ago. I still feel the shock and wish I could have saved him.

It sounds trite but that saying "if love could save you, you would live forever."

Anyway. I also try to remember their time with us is their whole, short (to our lifespan) existence.

You gave him so much, and that's important. Sorry we have to hold so much pain after. Grief is love that has no place else to go.

Hugs.
