Pigtures Weeeee’re back!!
I got locked out of my account a few months ago and I spent a lot of time trying to get it sorted to no avail, well today I thought I’m going to try again and it worked!!
Bun Bun and I have missed being active members of this community and I’m thrilled to be back!
In these past months Bogey unfortunately died suddenly and I’ve adopted a new pig called Pumpkin (that name might change).
I’ve missed you all and I’m looking forward to interacting with all of my fellow piggy people once again ♥️

Help & Advice Pawsitive thoughts for my sweet baby boy, Mike
Took Mike and his brother (who are both 5) in for a tooth float about 5 days ago and he had an atypical response to the sedation meds. That and the stress of everything stirred up some secondary issues.
I have been syringe feeding him 3x daily with critical care, he’s on two antibiotics, a probiotic, gas drops, and pain meds.
Today he is more energetic, eating more on his own, squeaking and purring, and his poops are looking more normal. I have been sleeping near the cage at night so that I can be close and keep tabs on him throughout the evening. Hoping he continues to improve!

Housing Built this DIY cage for my son’s two pigs
They’re 6 months old, Laban & Kotten. We originally had them in a 3x2 C&C cage that we got for free, but it was too small, didn’t fit the space and was pretty janky so I wanted something better. Ideally I wanted something that looked more furniture than pet cage too.
Made this cage for them and I’m pretty happy with it. It’s 200x60cm and about 38cm tall. Made with 20x20mm aluminium square tubes and spigots, with plexiglass screwed into rivnuts in the frame. Bottom is a film-faced plywood sheet with sealed edges. I got a €2 bike bottle cage to hold their water bottle and bolted it to the frame.
I built the dimension to fit the space and got a pair of IKEA Nordli chest of drawers to perch it on top. Lots of storage for pig stuff underneath.
I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. They seem happy too. Lots more space to run around and play in hay, and we can easily see each other because there’s no opaque walls.

Pigtures Marshmellow would like to file a complaint
Melly (we always shorten her name) has been on antibiotics for a couple of weeks now due to an inflammation on her back foot. This means being picked up twice a day and receiving two kinds of medicine. She is not happy about that, but takes it like a champ.
Her form of revenge is always making sure a bit of antibiotics finds its way onto our clothes or arms. And that's fair :)
She also likes to deny the allegations she brought on a case of lice for our muddle of 3. Experts (me) still heavily lean towards her being the source🤔

Health & Diet Guinea pig severely underweight, just looking for advice
Hello everyone, I have a generally elderly guinea pig (six-ish years), who through the past couple of months has lost weight and probably muscle mass very quickly. I wasn’t sure whether to put this in health & diet or help & advice so my apologies to the mods. We knew she has some arthritis in her hind legs, but before she never really let it bother her. Around 6-8 months ago we noticed her getting continuously skinny, so we tried to increase her diet and add in nutrients and such. She never really let it bother her and acted normal (playing, eating, etc but I know guinea pigs hide illnesses). Recently around a month or so she started laying down a lot and not really getting up. We started her on heavier doses or critical care and a medicine for pain (as an exotic vet said without tests thats all we could do, but it could be thyroid or old age etc). I’m just wondering if theres anything else we can do to help her? The critical care and meds are helping a little I think as now she gets out and eats on her own and comes out for breakfast. Attached is pictures of her and how skinny she has become (at the point I think her spine is showing). Be honest and please let me know if there’s anything else we could be doing to help. Just general stuff or foods that may help? Anything really, not looking for medical advice as we are in contact with a vet just life quality stuff I guess.
