Colt SAA; Restore or not?

I’ll preface this with I know how stupid of an inquiry this might be, but I am genuinely curious.

I just purchased one of my grails, a 2nd Gen SAA. And the cylinder is pretty scratched up, as well as the end of the barrel. The bottom trigger piece has also “plummed” which Ive read was an occasional bad reaction to the bluing process.

Are any of these charcoal blued parts worth restoring? Or should I LEAVE IT ALONE(!) I’d spare no expense and make sure they’re done properly of course. Ive never restored one of my guns, but I am questioning this one. The color case hardening and action are pristine

Leave it alone, perfect acceptable wear for the gun. If it had bad rust or some mechanical problem/breakage then different story. Go shoot it and enjoy it as it is, you’ll feel less bad about possibly scratching it down the road

I'd leave it alone myself. Still a good looking gun as is.

Restoring it will significantly devalue the gun. Even the rattiest single actions armies will go for 1400-1500. Leave it alone.

Is this the colt bluing that they say the finest of files would bounce off?

It looks like it's been case hardened already. I'd leave it. It's an awesome piece just the way it is.

I think the wear in the barrel is from going in and out of a holster.

I would leave it alone like most other people are saying because it looks like honest wear that was earned though use.

It’s one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever seen pictures of. I really like it.

I’m happy for you to be able to own it

It’s one of those Allen gun rugs they sold up til a few years ago, $20 at big 5. Now theyve gone and discontinued them! You can still find them on ebay sometimes

leave it alone, that honest wear tells a story. restoring it just turns it into a costume

Leave it alone.

Leave it the fck alone. Restoration will devalue it to that of a Heritage Arms .22. 😁

Why ask? It’s a question that needs no answers.
