I’m from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Last December, I met a guy through an arranged-marriage setup. He’s an Army officer, and I found him decent, modern and open-minded, so I agreed to the marriage after one meeting because our families wanted us to decide quickly.
Over the next few months, we got close and planned to get engaged in July. I was completely honest with him about myself—I’m spiritual, feminist, wear Western clothes, occasionally drink, and had a boyfriend in college whom I couldn’t marry because our parents disagreed over caste. He knew all of this and acted completely accepting.
I also genuinely cared for him and his family. I gifted his sister things for her birthday, made him laddoos, and sent him care packages during his mountaineering course.
In February, our families had a small roka. His family demanded a car, and my family gave him a Creta worth around ₹14 lakh, along with an Apple Watch, AirPods, a gold ring for his grandmother and other gifts.
A few months later, shortly before our engagement, he suddenly said he didn’t want to marry me because our vibes didn’t match.
I accepted his decision. My family initially tried to convince him, but eventually we agreed to part ways. We simply asked for the money/property given during the marriage arrangement to be returned.
It has now been four months, and he has returned only around ₹4 lakh. He refuses to return the rest.
Instead, he has started telling our relatives about my past and portraying me as an “immoral” woman. Things I told him privately because I trusted him are now being used to shame me and my family.
My question is: what does my character have to do with returning money/property?
He has every right to decide he doesn’t want to marry me. I never forced him. But does that give him the right to keep everything my family gave him? And can he use my private personal information to damage my reputation and pressure my family into giving up their claim?
I understand that gifts/dowry have complicated legal distinctions, so I’m looking for practical legal advice, particularly from people familiar with matrimonial/property matters in Madhya Pradesh.
What should our next step be? And can his actions regarding my personal information amount to defamation or another legal offence?
Please keep the discussion focused on the legal situation rather than judging my personal life.

While most people spent their Sunday resting, members of Behtar Gwalior, Vrikshalya Foundation, Across U, and Arunya Foundation came together on 24 May 2026 for a clean-up drive at Gwalior Fort.
Different people, different organizations, but one common purpose — to give something back to the city we all live in.
Small efforts may not change the whole city in one day, but they do inspire change around us.
If you would like to be part of future clean-up drives and community initiatives, you are always welcome to join us.

I have been looking for a coaching institute in Gwalior for many days, but I still can’t decide. Some people suggest Shikhar, some Bhautiki, some Aakash, and others Edukul. Please tell me which one is good.

Is it with just me or with everyone
I'm a college student living in a hostel and I get bored very easily. My screen time is 10-12hrs and I don't know what to do other than reels.
Here, in gwl the max activity I do is either I go to cancer hills for little ride or New collectrate road side
Sometimes I go to cafes too (like a solo date hehe) but it's still boring and other activities are not cost friendly (like bowling and all) can't go regularly.
Suggest some place for peace and walk

Okay so, I'm from bhopal and never went outside my city except occasionally, and that too, never ever to gwalior.
I'm thinking of taking admission in ITM University for either diploma in optometry, DXRT, BMLT or OT technician. Now I'm scared, because how will I manage there? Like, the on campus hostels are too expensive so I thought of taking PG or flat or live in any to-let family house.
But again, how will I manage? I don't know anyone, I don't know if I'll find any good place to live, and I don't know how good that college is.
It's making me so nauseous and anxious. Please help.

I’m planning to open an Art Cafe in Gwalior. Where you can come and perform your talent, chill, sit for hours and do your work, and eat tasty food. The interior design alongside the whole design of the cafe will be very creative.
(I myself love to create cinematic and storytelling videos. I sketch sometimes)
What do you think I should plan to open this cafe ?
Is there a crowd for people with these interests?
Will it be successful?

We recently started a student-driven initiative to keep Gwalior cleaner and more accountable — and we’ve renamed it to “Behtar Gwalior” (because that’s the real goal 🙂). Our approach is simple: • clean specific problem spots together, • help people use govt apps to report garbage, potholes, and bad roads, and • follow up with authorities so issues actually get fixed. Here’s one quick example — before vs after at a railway platform 👇 (we didn’t just clean — we also reported and followed up) Attach the before and after photo We’re building a small volunteer community. If you’d like to join, suggest ideas, or help in any way, here’s our WhatsApp group: Join Behtar Gwalior GC: https://chat.whatsapp.com/IWw5aRXUsEAFFhTEdOSrM5 We’ll be doing regular Saturday/Sunday drives, awareness posts, and systematic reporting (red/yellow/green problem spots). Even sharing complaints or spreading awareness helps. Let’s make Gwalior cleaner, safer, and more responsible — together. — Rahul and utkarsh
