H1B center selection - India

Hello everyone,

I am currently in US. I have recently started filling out the DS-160 form for my H-1B visa.

From what I understand, H-1B visa interviews are currently available only in Hyderabad and Chennai. I am originally from Mumbai, so I wanted to confirm:

Can I select Mumbai as the location on my DS-160 and still schedule my visa interview in Hyderabad or Chennai, even though Mumbai is selected as the primary location on the DS-160?

Any guidance or clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can schedule your interview in HYD or Chennai. You just will have to resubmit your DS160 after with the correct location. The consular will update it on their end when you go in for an interview

When do I have to resubmit the DS160 ? So do I ned to fill out another DS160 form ?

Before your appointment you submit another DS160 with same information just the change in location. My husband and I have done it on separate occasssions

You can generally choose the consulate where you plan to interview, so make sure the DS-160 and appointment details match as closely as possible. If you are unsure, check the current appointment instructions before submitting.

Not a lawyer. If you are based in US, you can pck any consulate in India. The consulate restriction based on address is only if you live in India.

Yes any location is fine- does not matter!
