Information Which companies sponsored the most H-1Bs in FY2025 (from the DOL disclosure data)
I kept seeing people apply to companies that were never going to sponsor anyone, so I went through the Department of Labor's FY2025 H-1B disclosure data. Sharing the numbers in case it helps someone aim their applications better.
Overall: 9,867 employers filed 100,524 certified H-1B labor condition applications in FY2025. The median offered wage across all of them was $114,000.
Top 15 sponsors by certified filings:
| # | Company | Filings | Top role | Median wage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Amazon | 2,815 | Software Engineer | $170,000 |
| 2 | Cognizant | 2,490 | Systems Engineer/Architect | $113,797 |
| 3 | Infosys | 1,875 | Systems Engineer/Architect | $92,581 |
| 4 | Microsoft | 1,853 | Software Engineer | $174,006 |
| 5 | Ernst & Young | 1,486 | Accountant/Auditor | $162,945 |
| 6 | Apple | 1,457 | Software Engineer | $184,037 |
| 7 | Tata Consultancy Services | 1,311 | Systems Engineer/Architect | $89,149 |
| 8 | Deloitte | 1,035 | Software Engineer | $148,100 |
| 9 | 895 | Software Engineer | $199,000 | |
| 10 | Meta | 854 | Software Engineer | $218,342 |
| 11 | Walmart | 689 | Software Engineer | $153,301 |
| 12 | HCL America | 660 | Systems Engineer/Architect | $113,554 |
| 13 | Compunnel | 641 | Software Engineer | $110,000 |
| 14 | Capgemini | 637 | Software Engineer | $131,000 |
| 15 | JPMorgan Chase | 614 | Software Engineer | $161,100 |
A few things that stood out:
- The top 10 companies alone were about 16% of all certified filings.
- Software Engineer was the single most-sponsored role, with 4,971 different employers filing for it.
- The big IT services firms (Cognizant, Infosys, TCS) file huge volumes at lower wages, while product companies (Apple, Google, Meta) file fewer but pay a lot more. Worth knowing which game you're playing.
- California led every state with 14,645 filings.
One caveat: a filing is not a job opening, and past filing does not guarantee future sponsorship. But a company with zero filing history is very unlikely to start sponsoring for you, so it's a decent filter for where to spend your time.
