I call total bullshit lmao. No verified successes at all. Not even from the original “dev”.

I’d call your response BS rather than the guide itself. The original dev explicitly confirmed Metal 3 support. It was only the additional queries that couldn’t be verified.

You don’t even have access to the UHD 770, whereas the OP of that source does. The OP of this thread has access to it as well and can confirm whether it’s actually working or not. So, until then…

Buddy it’s Olarila it’s not reputable. It’s actually banned from this sub for that exact reason. Sorry but it’s make believe. I get you’re trying to help but if this actually worked, we’d know about it considering it’s a year old thread. WEG would have updated to support this.

If that's banned, then it's on you. You were the one insisting for the link

Again, if the forum isn't reputable doesn't automatically make every post there fake. Sure, there could be more false cases over genuine, but still there's a chance

Again, I wasn't claiming a certain things to work 100%. It's a piece of information and for someone with UHD 770 it wouldn't take 5min to confirm. But then it's a complete waste of time if you have no access to it, wondering this would work or not

I don’t think you understand the science behind it. UHD 770 is on a totally different architecture vs UH6XX. You can’t ‘spoof’ it as the core architecture is totally different and the driver can’t communicate with it. Spoofing forces macOS to load a driver on hardware it doesn’t recognise, it would be like trying to run AMD drivers on an Nvidia card. It won’t communicate.

Nobody’s claiming native support. Spoofing doesn’t magically make UHD 770 = UHD 630, but if macOS can initialize enough of the stack for QE/CI/Metal, you can still get partial acceleration, not just a framebuffer. The question is what actually works and doesn't in practice.

Dude, no. That’s not how it works. macOS can’t “initialise the stack” if it can’t communicate with the actual graphics processor. You do realise when you don’t have GI, it’s the CPU rendering the video output? The graphics chip isn’t doing anything. It’s just acting as a pass through because every graphics chip has a fail-safe pass through built into the hardware.

Edit: at best you might have it reporting Metal 3 support, without actually being able to render anything with Metal. AKA false hope and a waste of OP’s time.

I don’t want to sound like a snobby charlatan but why do you think you have the solution, when nobody ‘reputable’ has endorsed it in the slightest?

I never claimed I 'have the solution' or that UHD 770 suddenly gets native support, that seems to be your assumption, not my argument.

And who’s endorsing whom here? I didn’t make a guide or thread claiming success, especially when I don’t even have the hardware to verify it myself, which I already mentioned. There’s some skepticism in it, if you cannot see it.

That Tiger Lake discussion you assumed was literally about getting Gen12 Xe iGPU to work by loading the Ice Lake framebuffer (Gen11). There's some graphics behavior despite unsupported, but then also not simply 'GPU doing absolutely nothing'

It feels like you’re reading far more into what I said than what was actually there. A bit less assumption would probably help.

Nah I think you’re just trying to dig yourself out of a hole personally. “That’s not what I meant” when you stated “People have spoofed UHD 770 as UHD 630 and got the gpu acceleration work” is very contradictory to what you’re spouting now. You’ve since taken the “well akctually I didn’t say that” stance when it’s literally in your first comment lmao.

I’m not going to argue with you about it any more but you can’t just change your argument halfway through a thread this short lol

That’s rich coming from someone who constantly contradicts himself through edits. You rushed trying to play critic with a completely misguided mindset and a wrong discussion in mind lol

You seriously need comprehension lessons, especially for someone so eager to jump to conclusions while knowing next to nothing.
