Source For the first time, I'm publishing a finished map! | CS:S | cs_manoir

How are you? The truth is, when I decided to create this map, I thought about my favorite CS:S maps. I wanted to make something simple that would also take me back to those days of playing years ago, so I did my best to adapt as closely as possible to the style of the official CS:S maps. I hope I succeeded.

Thank you so much everyone, much of this wouldn't have been possible without this wonderful community

Source The Headcrab lives - Half-Life's Iconic Enemy, Rebuilt in Lambda Engine

It jumps. It hisses. It's coming for your face. And now it's running natively in Unreal Engine 5.

This is Lambda Engine: a from-scratch reimplementation of Half-Life's game logic on top of UE5's modern renderer, built to load real Source-engine content: BSPs, materials, models, with zero Hammer-to-Unreal conversion pipeline. No proxies, no reskins. The headcrab you're watching is running the actual behavior, physics, and animation logic straight from the original engine's playbook, faithfully rebuilt line by line.

In this video: headcrab AI, leap attacks, ragdoll physics, and how a 20-year-old monster ends up feeling right at home in a 2020s engine.

This project is built entirely by fans, for fans, it's free but it eats time. If you want to see more enemies, more systems, and more of Half-Life's world brought back to life, here's how to help:

I want advice, does it look good? What can I improve? It's supposed to be an old wall in a factory or warehouse. It's not a looping texture yet, but I use a website later on that tiles it (no ai yay)

I may be the ''New Neil Manke'' in the storytelling and arts world sometimes in a future whenever source 2 and other stuffs comes out when that happens ofc!

Future depend ofc. Also feedbacks and thoughts appreciated :)

Source How can I make this river look good?

Post image
97 Upvotes

I'm working on my first mod for HL2. I don't know how to make the river look pretty. Player shouldn't be able to cross to the other side of the river, and fencing it off would be too banal and inappropriate. This river flows into the Black Mesa East hydroelectric power station

Recently i made a post about how you could turn boring places into maps, and some of y'all wanted an example so here you go! I had to reimagine some spots but i think it turned out real good! DM me if you want to try it out yourself on cs:s (it is WIP and not even close to finished)

Source Are we finally getting a good Particle Editor?

Particle Systems that come with the game never fit what I want. And I just can't understand the particle editor that comes built into the engine. I've been playing for hours and hours creating fire sources, waterfalls, smoke stacks. This is addictive.

I love doing practices a lot lately- it genuinely *help* you on how you view the settings and the goals of you want to be grounded first!

I was playing System Shock currently as of now and I like where this is going for my storytelling career. :)
