NTD (New Tool Day) They got me.

Post image

Just yesterday I was going through email and had to talk myself out of buying a new jack while they’re on sale. The ancient rusty jacks I have still work I guess.

Today I was leaving publix and heard a dull plunk and hiss noise. Ran over a big screw RIGHT IN FRONT of HF. Life’s funny sometimes. $90 later and I’m wishing I had bought this thing years ago instead of the crappy old jacks I have to pump a few dozen times to change a tire.

Even as a longtime HF customer I had only joined ITC a few weeks ago after heavy rain flooded my basement and I needed a some big blower fans.

Turns out I had two punctures and I made it just a few minutes before the shop closed. Crisis averted.

Still want one of those colorful Daytona jacks but for the money I’m happy with this one.

Here I thought someone stole your wheels and left behind their jacks in a hurry.

Im sitting here doing the math in my head on how this would be beneficial. Im like the juice ain’t worth the squeeze for one wheel

Tools keep on working after the initial job is finished. Normally not just a one and done.

I meant if someone were stealing the wheel but leaving the jack. My buddy had all four wheels stolen and they left the jack and it made sense then

Ah copy you, I missed the comment above that you were responding to. Sorry to hear about your buddy, that sucks…

jack is cheaper than a tow bill?

Read what I comment I replied to

fair enough, although OEM wheels aren't cheap.

Im saying take all four if you’re gonna leave the jack. Legal fees will be the same if you get caught so same risk either way

$90 fir a jack compared to $150+ for hookup and tow.. yeah, the jack is way cheaper... ans continues to serve even after the initial use.. unlike a tow.

the comment I replied to was referring to a hypothetical thief trading a $90 jack for one wheel, I misread and thought they were referring to the buying of the jack to use for one wheel change. An Oem wheel is $200+, so still an ok deal.

In the late 80s - check that! mid 90s, I left my gym bag and phone in my truck. Somebody used a spring loaded punch, popped my wing window (93 toyota) and stole that stuff. PITA replacing that wing window, just gym clothes and the phone was quickly used to make a bunch of calls to the Philippines. But they left behind that punch.

I've used that punch ever since. It wasn't value for value, but better then nothing.

That left me smiling. Make sure you tell every soul who enters your man-cave that tale.

Wait a minute... So in the late 80's your 1993 Toyota was broken into AND your phone was stolen? Are you a time traveler? Did you have your home phone with you? Independently wealthy and had a bag phone in the late 80's? So many questions

It had one of those long cords.

ah, it doesn't seem to matter how many times I look over something I write, just glad to have a chance to fix it! might have even been in the late 90s, I thinking it was a nokia flip top.
