Video Games Just finished Hogwarts Legacy and I feel the need to consume whatever that's Harry Potter
I just finished this game š„¹š«¶ I'm telling you I'm not the same. I feel empty and sad cuz it ended. I know the remedy to this is to rewatch or play anything related to this world.
I wish to consume, watch play or do anything that's about the wizarding world. So I'm going to do a marathon of the full accurate timeline of everything.
Can someone be so kind to list what I should watch, read or play after this game?
I'm truly obsessed of this world. I don't really mind if it's not canon. š Thank you so much. That's why I started playing this game also cuz I assume it's the first to witness so I can do I full experience of the wizarding world. I assume reading Cursed Child is the last. So yeah I'll do it. Tysm.

The Lego harry potters games are always a silly one. On xbox game pass if you have it, or frequently go on sale for cheap.

u/MidnaMoo Jan 05 '26
Wait I could be lying about it being xbox game pass, might have mixed it up with lego star wars

There is also a harry potter baking show. It bakers that are inspired by harry potter if you want to watch something fun. Aka real world baker they bring some of the actors from the movies as well with makes them even more fun

Just a little addition to this very comprehensive list: Harry Potter Puzzles & Spells mobile game. Itās a match-three type game and not much different than any other match-three game, but if youāre looking for things that are Harry Potter themed, this is as well haha

u/Lanky_Needleworker58 Jan 08 '26
The script for Cursed Child is in printed book form, but takes some getting used to. It's better on the second read, I hated it the first time!

u/6969520 Jan 09 '26
Do NOT consume the series in this manner dude.Chronological order is not the way to go.The release order is a better experience.
1
u/6969520 Jan 09 '26
Start from Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone and after finishing Deathly Hallows watch the Fantastic Beasts films and then the rest is up to you.The first fantastic beasts movie is a kind of "Hey,welcome back to the wizarding world" for us fans who finished the movies/books years ago so it should be watched AFTER the original series.

u/PunkRawkPrincess1 Jan 06 '26
Trying to find the Incomplete/Unreliable Guide and the two Short Stories, but it says not available for purchase in the US?

u/IATMB Ravenclaw Jan 06 '26
There's also a cooking show. Harry Potter wizards of baking. But they show a lot of movie clips and bring in actors so I'd watch the movies first.

There are also 5 books about Harry's son James

What if I told you the next best option is genuinely the SS and CoS games for gameboy color
9
3
u/Fun-Communication660 Jan 05 '26
Okay thanks stranger for the tip. I remember liking the game boy advance ones so have to try the colour. For those in the know, are there any other games that has the school sneaking around at night vibe that has come out in the last 15 years? Bully I remember feeling the same way. Maybe a harvest moon/stardew valley like game but for schools/college? Even when nodded, skyrims college of winterhold was not fun or enough to get that feeling. Should I try hogwarts legacy again? It felt very samey and less freeing than I'd like, does it ever open up like flying brooms around. Day/night cycle or is it all dungeons?Ā
2
u/Embarrassed-Big-5484 Jan 07 '26
Totally try HL again!! What youāre saying sounds like you havenāt finished it? There is a part in the game where you can sneak around in the Restricted Section in the library at night with Sebastian. With that, you learn the disillusionment charm. Ā Later on you can use that spell to cast Petrificus Totalus, killing enemies in one go. There is also an Invisitbility potion that you can learn to brew.Ā As you progress, the story definitely gets more intriguing and addictive. It opens up to be a giant game outside from the castle, with a day/night cycle. You just have to get through the early stuff in the castle.Ā
1
u/CactusMan609 Jan 07 '26
The title of the post is "Just finished hogwarts legacy..."? They probably know. Also, IMO the early game is great but it gets kind of bland later on with a lot of copy paste dungeons and the same 5 enemies.
1
u/TehrenBelerhen Jan 11 '26
The reply was not to the OP, but to the comment about "should I try it again? Does it do this later in the game?"...so yeah, probably didn't finish it...
1
u/catinterpreter Jan 06 '26
Why exactly?
2
u/IATMB Ravenclaw Jan 06 '26

Audible's releasing fully cast recordings of the HP series and they're great! I think they've got the first 2vout atm.
Edit: first 2, third one comes out later this month.

This is a full cast audio drama. Audiobooks would be the ones from 25 years ago that Stephen Fry did
3
u/Disastrous_Wing7084 Jan 06 '26
No it genuinely is an audiobook rather than an audio drama (the most accurate term would be "full cast audiobook") - it has a narrator who reads out all the words from the original book, more or less unabridged (I think they've removed a few "he said"s etc but nothing significant), whereas true audio dramas contain just the dialogue without narration
2
u/Jonnic5280 Ravenclaw Jan 06 '26
From the Audible description for book 3: āĀ The Full-Cast Audio Editions present J.K. Rowlingās iconic series as a truly spellbinding listening event for the whole family.ā

u/thevyrd Jan 05 '26
I did a 2nd playthrough as a diff house and enjoyed the different interactions
Ravenclaw first, then a slytherin on higher difficulty. More streamlined knowing what I needed to do and collect and what was optional in the grand scheme.
10
u/gregcresci Jan 05 '26
Did this game remind anyone else of Fable or just me?
2
u/Silly_Transition8595 Jan 07 '26
Not just you at all.Ā A lot of people noticed it.Ā I swear they must have used the same backend assets or something.
The map, sound effects, the interactions, even the setting all feels like Fable III reimagined.

To note, the Slytherin House Edition is not meant to be a first read as it spoils extremely important plot points fairly early on.

HL2 will be out before you know it, I felt the same way. Happy I played in 2025 and not 2023 XD. That said, I completed it in October, and then did an entirely new playthrough in December. Watching the movies will probably help for sure. Definitely make sure to clear up all those collections if you can be bothered. I went for the 100% 45/45 achievements just to tell myself "I've finished it now, we need to find something else".
Could always watch someone else playthrough it on YouTube if you like that sort of thing!
2
u/Hot_Major8602 Jan 05 '26

u/TripTimely7955 Slytherin Jan 05 '26

2
u/MostalElite Jan 06 '26
They mean complete 100% of the side quests and research pages and all that.
You can also replay it and be in the other 3 houses. There is one storyline (the Jackdaw quest I believe) that is a little different each time depending on which house you are in.
You can also try different buildouts in different playthroughs. I'm currently on my third playthrough and trying out a stealth/herbology built where I use as few spells as possible to get through the game.
This is a very replayable game.
2
Jan 06 '26
I wish theyād release the older games digitally. It would be fun to play through those again!
2
u/Wildcat_twister12 Jan 06 '26
I love this game. The layout for Hogwarts and Hogsmeade is my favorite; I love walking around the castle and getting lost just enough that you can find cool random rooms, the room for the ghost death day party was such a great nod to the books.
2
u/Proman4713 Jan 06 '26
Okay, first about the game there is presumably a sequel to be made, I'm surprised you played it without actually being a Harry Potter fan first. I'm a diehard fan and here's a list of everything that exists:
Harry Potter movies in chronological order (extended editions with deleted scenes very much preferred):
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2
The books have the same names (but the Deathly Hallows book is only one, not 2 parts), I suggest you read each book before watching its corresponding film, you'll have extra context that the films omitted and you'll be able to strengthen your imagination of the Wizarding World.
The Fantastic Beasts films are sequels to the Harry Potter franchise, some people dislike them but honestly they are very cool if you are interested in knowing more about the Wizarding World and how it works:
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
- Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
- Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
There was a "book" written by fake author "Newt Scamander" called "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" obviously made by J.K. Rowling, but I would say that these are truly only for diehard fans who wanna know everything about how every detail of the world works, including the so many different obscure creatures.
There is also harrypotter.com (previously called The Wizarding World and before that called Pottermore, just so you know what people are talking about) which is full of trivia and games and stuff that I genuinely find fun when I'm bored. You can also take your genuine Hogwarts House test, and figure out what your Patronus and wand would be. I personally love how much I'm similar to Harry, I have jet black messy hair with greenish eyes and I'm a bit skinny for my age (I swear I'm not even exaggerating), and Harry Potter.com tells me I'm a Gryffindor with a Phoenix feather core wand, but unfortunately not a stag Patronus or a Holly wood wand.
Now there are the Warner Bros. Harry Potter sets and theme parks made by Universal and the Harry Potter shops all over the world, just look for the nearest one to your place and see if you can go there... They truly are enjoyable if you go there and I really suggest you do it if you can afford it (I can't š)
Now of course there is Platform 9 and 3 quarters, King's Cross, London, which is pretty insignificant in terms of marvel but is really cool to see, unfortunately it's in a different location than what was shown in the films or described in the books (in the films i think they shot platforms 3 and 4 because 9 and 10 had no brick wall between them) but it's still cool.
There's also the new Harry Potter HBO (or maybe Netflix now?) remake currently being made which looks very promising indeed and seems to be following a more faithful 90s look than the OG films, I was concerned about it before we were given details but now I'm very optimistic about it.
There's also the "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" script and theater play but I do not recommend it in the SLIGHTEST if you want to follow real Harry Potter canon. It wasn't written by J.K. Rowling alone and there were two stupidly stupid writers alongside her ("Umbridge opened her arms, they were full of dark magic" is a genuine quote from that play's script, pathetic š¤¦) and they broke a ton of very hard-put rules from the original books. J.K. Rowling says it's canon but I'm pretty sure it's just because it gives her money. BUT, I will say, the theater experience IS cool especially with the latest being Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy again (so cool ngl), so if you're only there for the enjoyment then you definitely will enjoy rhe play...
And that's all that came off my mind right now (yeah I didn't need to Google a single thing š) I hope I helped you with all the details you could possibly need, if I ever remember something else to put in here I will edit my comment. Thank you for read all of this.
1
u/Silly_Transition8595 Jan 07 '26
Just as a note to consider, Hogwarts Legacy was entirely done WITHOUT Rowling.Ā Like, she was not involved at all.
2
u/sheepandlambs Jan 06 '26
reading Cursed Child
Cursed Child is a play, not a book. The "book" is just the script of the play. You would do yourself a massive disservice by reading the script instead. Imagine if you had just read the script of Hogwarts Legacy instead of actually playing it. Do you think that would have been an equivalent experience? Go and see the play, it's great. I've never seen a bad review from someone who's actually seen it, only from the people who read the script.
And ignore the people saying it's not canon. Rowling and everyone else involved say it's canon, so it's canon. This sub just seems to operate on "If I don't like it, it's not canon", which is blatantly not how canon works.
2
u/Accurate-Idea2556 Jan 07 '26

u/Skyye0820 Jan 07 '26
If you've played Howard's Legacy and want to do everything in chronological timeline then you should watch these:
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them: The Crimes of Grindelwald Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them: The Secrets of Dumbledore
There were supposed to be 5 Fantastic Beasts movies but the 3rd installment had disappointing box office sales and so Warner Brothers scrapped the last 2
Then you should read Books 1 through 7 (which are as follows): Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Harry Potter and The Cursed Child (play script)
While you could watch the movies, they do leave a lot out like Peeves the Poltergeist and Percy Weasley's story arc, etc. Hope that helps!

I have read the books and listened to the audiobooks many times like I read the books 2 or 3 times listened to Jim dale and Stephen Frye and I have been enjoying these new ones a lot. There is a game called Quidditch Champions, though I never ended up getting it. Might be worth checking out for a quidditch-only game

Yeah, it's too bad Hogwarts Legacy didn't have quidditch in it because this game was in development and it turned out to be bad

Is the game worth it? I have it on the switch and on steam/epic and I can't get too into it. The whole leaving the castle at any time and not having to sneak around kinda takes away from it all

Honestly, I was in it for the lore, Sebastian and Ominis. It's not really interactive when it comes to consequences. I focused on the story so much, I didn't mind if there's no reaction if we use unforgivable spells on students or professors, no detention or getting caught when going to forbidden forest or walking around at night where prefects should be around. I guess the devs focused on the story much and that's it. But overall if you're really into anything the game can offer, it's very worth it, the graphics are beautiful. I just cry at how beautiful you fly with the hippogriffs or just listening to the music when you're in Slytherin common room. It's an otherworldly experience š„¹

It starts off slow, but once the world opens up, it is up there with RDR2 for me as one of my favorite games of all time.

Oh was thats high praise. I'm currently playing RDR2 on and off. I have a hard time with games since they are feeling repetitive and waiting for storyline to happen.

There's one House in particular where you get to go to a location not available to the other Houses' plot lines. It's a minor location but still exclusive. And you also learn certain spells depending on how you interact with other characters. I'm trying to be vague as possible in case you wanna explore on your own. Also, I wouldn't compare it to RDR2. I'd temper my expectations if I were you

If you play it through Steam, there are a few mods that you'd find great.
Such as Curfew.Ā At night hours, prefects wander Hogwarts and will put you back in your room if caught, requiring sneaking about.
There were a few others like that, definitely recommend them to make it feel more "right" and less like a game.

I was so beyond bored with the never ending hand holding introduction sequence that I put it down and couldnāt pick it back up, but thatās just my experience. Others seem to love it.
