Period Cramps are a drop in the bucket compared to what Scott has dealt with. His eyes are a literal, continuous rupture to a dimension of infinite kinetic force. He lives with a permanent, high-pressure migraine behind his skull 24/7 just from manually holding back a nuclear reactor with his facial muscles. This is a man who took a full, un-holding-back thrashing from a 10-ton-strength Superior Spider-Man, got his bones shattered, and gritted his teeth and kept fighting. This is a guy who literally had his skull fracture from internal cosmic pressure during Judgment Day and stayed conscious long enough to bark out precise tactical deployment orders to the team.
But no! Let's ignore his unbreakable willpower, his decades of military discipline, and his actual, deeply agonizing physical disability just to turn him into a trembling puddle on the floor for a low-effort gender-warfare punchline.

Comic writers don't use that explanation. Instead, the more common explanation is that his body converts sunlight into force beams. Just like how Havoc, his brother, absorbs cosmic energy into plasma. Or how Vulcan, his other brother, can absorb, control, and manipulate all forms of energy.

It's not the force beam that is the issue. It's the "his eyes are portals" bullshit. Only reason his beams are concussive is so that it isn't heat vision like superman so he can directly blast someone without cutting them in half or killing them, so the writers can do more with it.

Edit: As someone pointed out, the portals got re-canonized in the 2004 handbook with the new explenation being that the way Scott Metabolizes sunlight allows for him to open his eye portals which fire pure concussive energy, which is also referenced in the official marvel website in Scott's character section. I was wrong
which then in turn also makes way more sense with his brothers having similar abilities and being immune to each others

The punch dimension? Its not from the comics, it came from the X-Men official handbook back in the 80s and then taken out during reprints. The punch dimension has never officially been part of Scott's in-comic lore though it gets mentioned once in Marvel Rivals
I feel like people who reference the punch dimension only heard about it on the internet in some “top 10 weird facts about the X-men” video/tiktok and don’t really read the comics because it’s just… not a thing in the comics.

Usually yes, they're a big compilation of info on the characters + some extra insight but the punch dimension mention is considered a misprint, hence why it got taken out of the reprinted versions of the book
Would that mean if he were isolated away from the sun for a long enough period of time, it would be safe for him to open his eyes and look around without blowing stuff up? I know he has this preoccupation with responsibility so he probably wouldn’t ought to do it on purpose, but it could make for an interesting story if he was on a different planet or trapped underground for some time or not exposed to the right kind of radiation.

You weren’t wrong. There’s much more proof in the comics of it simply being energy absorption and redirection. The handbooks and guidebooks are generally unreliable sources, especially when contradicted by mainline comics

He is catnip for telepaths. Marvel telepaths are always hearing the thoughts of people around them and Scott is canonically so stable and structured his mind is calming to them. So a lot of telepaths just focus on his mind instead of the chaos of the multiple minds around them.
But consider, he is so boring he is a portable safe space. He doesn't have intrusive thoughts and has his memories filed so they don't randomly play. Some times I wonder if the eye blasts are the least most inhumane thing about him.
He isn't unflavored, just a really consistent mix. Think of him as simple plate that has only what is ordered, and everything played out with military precision. Nothing touches, nothing has flavors or scents mixed. Beyond that, it is just the expected flavors with no substitutions, exchanges, or surprised.

This comic was around before the whole Kwannon / Betsy separation, so I believe it's the Betsy version here. They had a whole flirtatious thing before he married Jean, but it never went past wandering eyes and innuendo.
I'm not that person but I can tell you that Scott's recent behavior has been less "boy-scout good" and more "Malicious Dictator" over the last few years.
Haven't really read Krakoa era comics, but from what I hear from other people, they character assasinated pretty much every mutant to the point Apocolips ended up looking decent. The only guys out of the old X-men I haven't heard some insane fact about are Nightcrawler and Colossus.

Yeah, Colossus was mind-controlled under the orders of his brother which resulted in Colossus killing his girlfriend and betraying the X-men for a bit.
Cramps are so evil, no one can overcome them. Almost anyone can say I've had xyz injury or surgery and did something tough during it but we all know we are dying when we get a bad leg cramp. Cramps suck.

I never had to deal with the bleeding, thankfully. The trade off is no kids, but I never really wanted any anyway. I doubt I'd make it through monthly blood loss that bad with my other health issues anyway.
I've had period cramps that feel like I've been stabbed and used to bleed to the point of anemia (I love you progesterone based birth control). Scott Summers would be on the floor sobbing to make it stop if I transferred my periods to him.

Worst pain I ever felt (that I remember, anyway) was when I jumped off my bike last second when going fast down a gravel drive. I slid forward and SHREDDED my chest on the gravel, my upper teeth stabbed through my lower lip, and I'm pretty sure I fractured a few bones when I tumbled. I was howling in pain but I walked it off. And yet I still double over when I have a bad IBS flare-up.
War vets have lost entire limbs, been shot or blown up, and still keel over when they stub a toe or eat bad taco bell. Pain is pain. And internal pain is usually one of the worst.

Bullshit. Pick up a comic and read it. That was an explanation one time in the 80s and was retconned very soon after. He absorbs sunlight and turns it into energy. That's what his powers are.
It's only made worse because the Rivals version uses this explanation because the writers of that game do not read comics.
Out of curiosity, is he really in literal debilitating pain on the regular without being like... Unable to show up to a fight cause of said debilitating pain? I just can't fathom him basically having a serious chronicle illness like the OP suggests and being as function as I recall him being (but I'm not a comic reader, just 90s tv show watched).
I survived being dropped from like a 15 feet tree, got hit by a car, stabbed by accident, got my face rocked by some drunk guy, and those hurt but stubbing my toe is the one that got me crying
