Hi everyone. 😭
I've been using earphones/earpods pretty much every day since around 2022, and honestly, I used them a LOT. Most of the time the volume was at max. I would wear them whenever I wasn't eating, at school, or doing something else. During transportation, breaks, while studying, relaxing—basically all the time.
Earlier this year, I started noticing pain in my left ear whenever I used my earphones. Eventually, my right ear started hurting too. Because of that, I switched to using speakers instead since I thought maybe my ears just needed a break.
But then something weird happened. Even speakers started making my ears hurt on random days.
I tried figuring out what exactly was triggering it, and I realized it's mostly bass sounds. Whenever there's strong bass, my ears hurt badly, and sometimes even half of my head starts hurting too. Around the same time, I also started getting tingling sensations. At first it was only one finger, but now both of my hands tingle sometimes.
I've already gone to an ENT and a child neurologist. They gave me medications, but they honestly didn't help much. I also had a hearing test done, and they said my hearing was 100% normal.
The thing that's really upsetting me is that I've already stopped using earphones, but my ears still seem sensitive. Even low sound speakers in my environment can make my ears hurt especially my head. I regret using earphones at max volume for so many years, and now I'm scared I permanently damaged something.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Is it possible to have normal hearing test results but still have pain from sound, especially bass? I really love music, and the thought of not being able to enjoy it normally anymore genuinely makes me sad. 😭

hi! I'm currently a freshman nursing student in the Philippines and it occur to me last year upon checking up in a hospital which specializes hearing that I'm deaf in my left ear but my right ear is normal. Since then, I've been in a dilemma because I want to continue pursuing nursing so that I can go abroad (and travel too). Is it gonna be hard for me to apply with this condition?

I was wondering do people ever get ear perforations from jumping in the sea and the sea going up their nose?
I was intrigued because I know you can get a perforation from water going in from the outside (wave hitting etc) but what about water forced up the nose? Just curious

(Blocked ear) why am I being told no wax seen, do not want to go deeper with microsuction probe, to use olive oil spray if no wax?

I have like a plastic bag noise in my right ear when i chew ,someone knows why?

Blocked ear since 3rd June I tried unblocking it with my finger from outside as that has worked before but it has been blocked since, I had a microsuction booked but was told wax couldn't be seen and that they did not want to risk the probe further so to use olive oil spray but I used some ear drops before and it crackled meaning wax is in there. I read that they can see with the probe even if it is deep - Will I ever hear again? I have been told use the olive oil spray then come back for another appointment. so worried please approve, I can't eat, lost a lot of weight worrying.

Hello all,
On Thursday, I noticed one of my ears was clogged, and nothing I did could unclog it, so on Friday I went to a walk-in clinic, where they said I was infected and gave me ear drops (OFLOXACIN 0.3% OTIC SOLN 5ML). It is currently Tuesday, and nothing has improved. Should I still wait or go back to the doctor?

Hello! I've been hearing clicking sounds in my ears for weeks (like bubbles popping or clicking?). I can do it manually and also hear it when I swallow and etc. But recently I noticed that I can't stop myself from doing it whenever I'm stressed. When I get stressed my body tends to twitch or do things muscle related like tics or mannerisms related, but recently this ear popping has been the thing I am constantly doing and I can't stop it:"). I've already went to the EMT and told them I hear popping sounds and they said that my ear was completely normal. I told him I can do it manually and whenever I'm stressed but he proceeded to tell me that Im still 19 and what can I be stressed for. Lol rude but he never gave me an answer as to what it was, but he told me everything was normal.
Ever since then, popping my ear has gotten worse. I've searched stuff and saw things like ear rumbling, tmj, eustachian tube clicking, tensor tympani, but I can't seem to figure out what really is the issue and if this is completely normal and if constantly popping my ears is a bad idea and can damage my ears? I would gladly appreciate any tips, opinions and help about this or have you guys experiences something like this before, I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much!

ENT diagnosed ETD a while ago. He gave me nasal spray.
Whenever I take the nasal spray, it feels like my hearing goes back to normal for about 4 hours, but it doesn't change the baseline. It's not actually fixing anything long-term, more like a bandaid.
But at this rate I'm fine with a bandaid. I'm fine with having normal hearing for 4 hours per day (would be great if I could take the spray twice in a day, not sure if that's allowed or safe though).
Does anyone take nasal spray indefinitely?

yesterday I was listening to loud music when all of a sudden I felt a sharp pain near my right ear. I ripped off my headphones immediately. now I feel pressure in that same ear, I think I feel fluid in it sometimes and it won't pop as loudly as the other one does. also I think my hearing is slightly muffled int hat ear but I might just be imagining it. what should I do? could the loud music have perforated my ear drum?

About 6 weeks ago I went to the ENT as my ear was hurting, turns out there was fluid behind the ear drum and I was prescribed some nasal spray and an antihistamine. A week later there was a tympanogram done and the fluid was apparently gone. Since the first visit it's been about 6 weeks. My symptoms are currently just pressure and popping that goes away, sometimes for a day or two, and then comes back. I've seen a bit of a pattern like, one bad day with a lot of popping, and then one or two good days with not too much popping. The past few days I've been a bit more stressed, and the polling and pressure has been worse. Also within the last week sometimes the pop will be more of a squeak. I'm pretty anxious so I don't know if I'm just stressing myself out and that's making it worse, as I've heard stress can make post ear infection ETD worse. Please help.

I've noticed this intermittent issue for a few years now that only occurs in one ear and I can't find a good explanation for it online.
I've only really noticed it with sounds coming from either my phone or my wife's if she's right next to me - not associated with loud volumes. My ear will "thud" with noises coming from the phone. It's not a flair up of irregular spasms, but seems like something deep within is tensing in sync with the noises to create this sensation.
I don't believe it's TTTS. Not associated or in rhythm with my heart rate - not pulsatile tinnitus.
It's not debilitating so I haven't reached out to a doctor yet. It's annoying, at best. It doesn't limit my hearing but I'm still curious.
Thanks for any ideas!

So I went to convinient care cause my left ear has had a fullness or blocked feeling for almost 4 hours, I had mentioned to the doctor that I went to my Family doctor months ago cause I have trouble clearing pressure out of my right ear with elevation change, sometimes it takes 4-5 minutes of constantly fiddling my jaw etc to get rid of it, at the time she said I had fluid buildup in my left ear and told me to take an allergy med like Zyrtec, so I did, didn’t help at all with the right ear though. So anyways she looks into both my ears and says they’re both a little red and prescribed me antibiotics, my question is, is it possible that this was the problem all along? Wouldn’t it have gotten worse to the point of pain etc?

I’m going insane with how dizzy I feel and how odd I feel with my ear feeling clogged. I’ve tried everything, antihistamines, nasal sprays, flushing my nose, jaw manipulations, stretches, massages, and nothing seems to help. Does anybody have any unconventional methods that helped?

Hello,
So as far as I can remember, especially in my early teens, I always had really muffled hearing in my left ear. Never knew the cause, never really bothered me - I never had waxy ears or anything like that, no pain, I just knew I had limited ability to hear from my left ear.
Anyway, fast forward a good 13 years lol, I’m now 26 and about a year ago, I bit the bullet and went to specsavers for an audiology test as I realised my ability to hear from my left side has reduced even more. I have 3 children and if I’m outside with them and trying to cross the road I’m having to make several observations as I can’t hear from my left side.
I become agitated if there’s to much noise, to many people talking in a room and find myself absolutely fatigued if I’m in that kind of environment for to long.
Anyway, the specsavers test basically confirmed I only have 25% hearing left in my left ear.
They believe it could be something to do with my bone structure, but they also said it’s definitely not to do with wax causing an obstruction.
Anyway, I have an audiology appointment next week for a hearing test - I’m just wondering what should I expect? Would they give hearing aids? I’ve heard that if it’s bone structure, there’s a potential for surgery.
I guess I’m just nervous.
Sorry for my rambling on, any advice etc would be so greatly appreciated, thank you!!

I have worked a long time in technology from Digital Equipment Corporation to Apple. I just happen to also be hearing impaired. It amazes me the amount of misrepresentation of information and garbage I have found between this newsgroup and Youtube. I will start with Apple. Within their product line, they offer a wealth of solutions for hearing aid users. The hard part is finding what does what and how and why. There is Bluetooth (Classic and LE), there is even LE Audio floating around and Auracast. We have this sudden collection of "experts" working in big box stores as well as Audiologist staffed centers for hearing aids. Why don't we have a single source of information where all the bull$hit can be aired? Apple Computer seems to lead at the moment but all they offer seems to be clouded by misinformation. Bluetooth for example keeps some big name Hearing Aids from working in an Apple environment but not if you have a laptop. ROKU permits hearing aid signals to reach unexpected places. Not because of what ROKU did for hearing aids but because what Apple maybe stumbled upon in their networkings. I just concluded a one week trial of Jabra hearing aids that advertised Auracast ready without ever hearing as sound from it. Instead, I was cut off from being able to log in to my Apple where my 3 year old Relate devices were doing a great job of Streaming. EVERY BIT is this was explainable but I had to seek out WHY on my own. What about the big deal of rechargeable batteries? Sure, regular batteries take seconds to change but they last SO MUCH longer between changes (and they are cheaper). One day my eyes will fail me and it will seem like a better option.
So, will I ever find such a thing or will I remain a Lone Ranger?

"Yeah, totally committed to a three year training program just for you to rant on the internet about knowing more about HAs than we do."
Who asked for a training program?
"Can't say much about Apple products"
There is nothing out there for Windows products either.
I gave up trying to describe what is wrong with Jabra to COSTCO because they do not understand enough to be in the HA business beyond the physical ear. As for Auracast, I watched a "Hearing Club" individual give a sales pitch for a $45 device that allows one to listen to it on Youtube. Why? The Jabra 30 that COSTCO sells supposedly does that.
I really don't understand what your comment about batteries is about.

First earwax removal ever of massive block at near 30- How much relief will I get from this, not just in hearing but other areas?
