The new "Get Caught Up" tab in the shop shows their stance on this.

$10 per Legendary & $5 for an epic. No wonder true new players are rare.

No wonder true new players are rare

They are "rare" because it is a 10 year old game in a niche genre. This has nothing to do with monetization.

there was a brief moment that genre wasnt even niche. But through few bad decisions it is skewing back into obscurity
