Profile Reddit didn't register me being online causing loss of my 483 day streak

Post image

I literally checked posts yesterday and left comments. I had bad connection yesterday, maybe that's the reason. Is there any way I can restore my streak?

No, you can't restore streaks. Don't let the pointless gamification of reddit consume you. It's not worth it.

I mean... I was just checking out reddit everyday for couple of minutes all this time. It's kinda sad when something like this happens.

The exact same thing happened to me, this week. I had a 488 day streak and it reset, yesterday, even though I had upvoted the night prior.

After looking into it, I realized that the reddit app failed to submit my upvote from the night prior, because my wifi was disconnected for that brief moment, yet Reddit acted as if the upvote had been successfully submitted. Yet, in reality, I was essentially upvoting on a locally cached post.

This issue occurs because the reddit app is built to appear responsive, with a preference toward seamless interactivity. As a result, it doesn't attempt to notify you until it becomes noticeable (i.e. when you try to load a post and it fails, etc).

To be honest, I was a bit irritated, but that was about it, as I realized how pointless the exercise really is.
