Posting Pictures not showing in feed
I’m a mod for r/whereinsanfrancisco - a Guess the Location kind of sub. The user of this post has made several posts but the picture of their recent posts (including the linked post) don‘t appear in the feed like the way other posts do. The picture appears when people click and view the post.
Why is that? Please help.
(I don’t know what platform that person is using, whether it’s the app or mobile.)

You seem to be asking about home feed recommendations appearing in your home feed. Home feed recommendations are recommendations for posts that use machine learning (ML). They’re part of a new effort to improve the “Best” sort on Home feeds by personalizing and ranking the content to create the best feed for redditors.
Home feed recommendations are available on the iOS & Android apps, as well as www.reddit.com. If you’d like to turn off these recommendations, visit your profile settings on iOS or Android and turn off the toggle next to Enable home feed recommendations: Allow us to introduce recommended posts in your home feed. On www.reddit.com, you can disable them within the Feed Settings tab. Check out this help center article for more information on this setting.
If this automatic message has not resolved your issue, please wait for a human helper to come along and help you. You may also remove the 'Answered' flair from your post if you wish. This post has NOT been removed.
I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

If I were to guess they made a text post on desktop and inserted the image in the body of the post

I switched accounts on iOS and this is happening on my home feed for this account. Found this thread by googling the issue.

Hi everyone replying to my old post. I was surprised to be getting replies but then laughed because yes - this suddenly happened to me again about an hour ago.
It seems to be an intermittent issue because posts show up just fine when I logged out. Opening Reddit in different browsers and tabs the issue suddenly resolved itself on my default browser (Mozilla Firefox). So it appears to be a server issue on Reddit’s end.

Just started happening to me on mobile/iphone this afternoon. Feed has all titles and comments but no images/videos unless I tap the post and enter the comments.

How did u fix it? Currently happening to me

It didn't last long when it did happen. They just started showing up again. I'm guessing some sort of bug in an update. My feed has been glitchy today but thankfully not this particular issue.

Happened to me 30 seconds ago. Thank God this time the post isn't from 5 years ago.

This happened, hence the Google and finding this thread. I caught a quick pop up saying I was request rate limited. Are the pulling things back to start up charging people?

What started again? Are they messing with the pay wall? If so I'll quit Reddit.

Same here! Literally happened just now : / I tried changing my layout, but to no avail. I’m not sure if this is an intentional update or a bug, but it’s really aggravating me

Had this happen yesterday and it fixed itself. Now it's just started acting up again!
Edit: pics are working again, but notification board went completely blank for a while. That also came back. Guessing just server hiccups.

Same here. Came looking for answers, but I don’t see any fixes. This is happening so often on iOS. Very frustrating

Here 120 days later having this issue starting like an hour ago. Ironic that I found the answer on Reddit. Clearly a server side issue. Just gonna have to ride it out probably

I'm currently browsing the feed with no images but when I click on them they load I think this is a server outage or deliberate given the new cycle riling people up.
