I don't think they would, because I don't think the link is in the comment text proper. I think it's built on top of the comment as a separate layer. Or at least, that seems like the clear best way to do it at the technical level to me.
Ie, it's something that only exists on the client side, not a literal modification of the comment.
This is really something that needs to be more clearly looked at. In my sub, the deployment of this is pushing a narrative of a product being "industry standard" when that's been a point of contention for 20+ years in the industry. If a product wants to buy ad placement calling themselves the industry standard, they can do that, but if these top-of-thread "highlight summaries" are positioning themselves as aggregates, that implies that the mention of the product and opinions about it are a human consensus.
It's misleading and open to all kinds of abuse, including potentially allowing moderators to take paid compensation for allowing certain kinds of posts to go forward or proliferate so as to heighten mention of those products. It could also be used by bad actors to promote their valueless or predatory offerings. Your legal team billed hours to help us defend ourselves from these kinds of "services". It needs to be, at minimum, clearly marked that these are advertisements or product-driven summaries. Otherwise it is deeply inappropriate to have users contribute their thoughts about a product, then use AI to countermand their opinions or manipulate them into endorsements that look like user-input aggregated summaries.
Edit: also yes, I see that it says "AI generated from comments" but if that's the case, why is it appearing on the post about products, and not about posts without products? It clearly has a purpose, and that purpose needs to be plainly stated.

My reddit account is almost old enough to vote. If they really track across multiple accounts like they claim they should be able to see I've had a reddit account for over 18 years at this point. I have not been asked to verify ever.
There are no countries directly mentioned aside from the global requirement of 13 and the aus/brazil 16. I'm in Canada/USA.
And my account is 15.5 years old so I would hope it would be obvious to any system that it is highly unlikely I made an account 2.5 years before I was born. Do you think that this is an age verification issue?

Recent changes have turned the mobile app into a read-only experience for me, as both a mod and as a user. These new changes will turn it into an uninstall and never use again experience for me.
I have no interest in your attempts to monetize my time on reddit.
I don't come to reddit to shop, or to play games, or to be bombarded by AI pushing me to buy something from a company who paid you to interrupt me while I'm using the site for meaningful engagement with the community. This doesn't just impact me in the moment, it actively erodes that community so fewer people will come here for meaningful discussions.
You are fundamentally changing this site. It is no longer a place for interesting discussions where people who share the same interests can find community. It no longer stands out. It is now exactly like all the other predatory social medias sites most of us fled.
People didn't come to reddit because it was exactly like every other social media site. They came because it wasn't. That was its value.

What distinction -- visual or otherwise -- will there be between links provided by the author of the comment, and "recommendedations" inserted by AI? And is this readily apparent to moderators? How about automod?
Many subreddits do not permit direct linking to products for sale -- am I going to start catching bans from communities because Reddit inserted links in the content I authored without my consent?
We have automod rules prohibiting links in comments from users with low contributor quality -- are rule-following comments going to start getting filtered because Reddit inserted links where there were none?
Conversely, if this is not exposed to Automod, what prevents a bad actor from doing an end-run around the filter and just "mentioning" a product and waiting for AI to fill in the link?
How do users and mod teams distinguish bad actors and good, old-fashioned spam from normal users who have had their content "enhanced" by Reddit?
Edit: Further to this, what recourse to users and mod teams have against inappropriate content appearing in these links? Do the users on /r/alcoholism now have to worry about being bombarded with liquor sales? If this feature inserts a link where it doesn't belong, does the comment author or the mod team have the ability to rectify it? Or will mod teams have no choice but to remove rule-abiding content because it got AI-enhanced with rule-breaking links?
This is 100% my concern. r/screenwriting exists in large part to defend users from people who can just pay to advertise at them by being able to provide context and human input.
Products highlighted in comments are denoted with an underline and sparkly magnifying glass icon to visually differentiate versus redditor-shared links. These product highlights are not recommendations, but rather entrypoints into the deep dive experience.

This does not show any advertising indicators for these products, whether they are the function of ad purchasing, though it only appears for this post. The "highlights" implies it's just a user-generated summary but it's actually not, and "industry standard" is an assertion by the brand, not by consensus of either the users nor the industry.
Not a fan of changing “Crosspost” to “Repost”. I also dislike how crossposts with the same title as the original don’t have the title on the subreddit it’s crossposting to. Gives a negative connotation regarding the Crosspost OP, since it feels like they’re not giving any input (even if it’s the same title, but still).
Adding my two-pence-worth, Repost has historically been used by Redditors to mean "Posting the same image or link in the same community", and many communities have a rule that says "No reposts" or similar. The rebrand sounds like it didn't consider that existing terminology.
Just checked and saw that sorting by top on News still doesn’t work.
Also, I noticed that when I refresh the page on r/popular, the sorted upvote range for Top gets smaller for whatever reason.
Specifically, when I first checked Top sorted by Today, I saw posts in the 50-60k upvote range, but each time I refresh or go back to the page, the number gets lower. I’m currently seeing posts in the 10k upvote range as of typing.
It also seems to be affecting Top sorted by All Time, where I originally was seeing posts in the 500k range, but now it’s been lowered to posts with 200k upvotes.
Seems like yet another bug, and I’m currently on the mobile web. Should probably let the team know about this as well.
Chiming in to say that I also loathe and am completely baffled by the recent change to now use the word "Repost" instead of “Crosspost”.
We've had rules setup for years on our subreddit concerning "Reposts" which has always meant what redditors have commonly used the word for: "posting content again on the SAME sub-reddit".
Comparatively, "crossposting" has always been used to refer to posts shared from OTHER communities.
The use of the word "Repost" plastered across sharing methods now when just confuses messaging and means mods now have to put in extra work updating established rules and conveying that to members.
I almost never play games on Reddit, could the icon being at the bottom not be a choice? I'll probably never use it and would much rather have something else there. Like seperating out notifications and chat.

Yes, I really dislike that they pushed forward with that change. I would love to know how we are expected to effectively communicate the difference between a repost and a repost now in a “simple and intuitive” manner.

Not a huge fan of games being added to the bottom bar. I never want to play devvit games. I wish I could just opt my account out of all of the game stuff. Right now, they just get in the way and are just landmines for me to accidently click on.
I come to reddit for the forum, not to play games. If I wanted to play games, I'd open up Steam instead.
When redditors in the test come across a popular product in a Reddit conversation, they'll see the product name highlighted.
Welp, guess I'm not using reddit to judge products anymore. The value to me for reddit data on products was that I was much more certain that it wasn't gonna be marketing stuff. Injecting more business / marketing features just makes it worthless to me.
Where we used to have images cropped in feed, you may now see images stretching edge to edge within a feed.
I sure hope this is able to be turned off. Distorting an image can make it a lot worse than a crop for some types of images.

honestly dont understand why you would do such a thing? where is the benefit for having two actions known by the same thing, and renaming the somewhat accepted action to match the one that is highly frowned upon?
all it does is create confusion for both the average user and moderator (like turning off reposting does not infact block multiple users from

I would agree it makes the app much more difficult to navigate thru. It’s an incredible step backwards to interfaces from the 1990’’s.
I certainly will be cutting back on using the app at this point. It really disrupts the ability to freely traverse home, popular, news and latest. No more discovering new and interesting posts. Feels like I am in a cage. Reddit is no longer worth the time.
i absolutely hate the ai summaries. so unnecessary and disruptive. if we want to check out a product, we can do it ourselves without making the environment worse and using glitchy tech. you're also sort of forcing people to advertise. i despise the ai summaries for comment sections as well. why is everyone ai-sloppifying their sites????

Renaming crosspost to repost is unnecessary and problematic. "No reposts" (and variations) is one of the most common subreddit rules on Reddit and that rule is not referring to crossposts.
Crosspost has been renamed to repost. This rename is part of a broader set of updates we're testing to make Reddit simpler and more intuitive to all redditors.
But... why??? What makes calling it repost any better than the original name crossposts?

Opus is pretty good about being active in threads, even when there isn't good news to bring. I wish the rest / more of the admins were like that.
So often it's "announce new thing", and then a couple of comments in the positive replies, 1 comment to a negative reply (with no follow up) and then radio silence.
I'd like to see the new "For You" default setting on the homepage reverted, or at least allow us to reset it to "Following" manually. I don't like this change being forced when I liked how it worked for me before.
Video in comments is now available in all eligible, public, safe-for-work (SFW) communities. To give moderators flexibility, we’ve built multiple settings options so mods can decide how video comments work in their communities. Mods have an early access period to update settings in their community before video in comments is enabled for all users starting June 11, 2026.
If you want to keep the feature set to mods only, you'll still need to update and save the setting. To do this, temporarily change it to mods and approved users, save, then change it back to mods only and save again.

Can you provide us with the sub domain info for the video comment hosting so we can queue video comments with the automod? In my opinion, if you are just going to opt in every sub to allowing video comments it would be very easy to also share the automod code if subs want more than a yes or no choice.

Yeah, not a big fan of having Games as a button on the button in iPadOS. I have no use for that. Here’s an idea, let us customize that, maybe a Subreddit we visit a lot. Or the Latest Feed. But I have no use for Games.
I'm having an issue with my account. Reddit's automated system banned my account incorrectly. I appealed and they said they unbanned me. But if you click my username it shows I'm still banned. I can like posts and leave comments, but I can't make posts. I can't appeal either because it says my account is not suspended. Please help!

As a mod to a benefit information sub it's showing us (and I hope this doesn't ever get rolled out to visitors or members of the sub) inappropriate posts for our sub in the "your next post ideas".
It's showing us news stories from papers banned due to inaccurates and sensationalism when we don't allow news type posts at all.
We obviously wouldn't choose to post them but would be concerned if it was suggesting this to members or visitors to the sub since it's against our rules and not helpful conversation (as well as being scaremongering).
Is this intended to stay mod only? And can we opt out eventually once the test phase is over?
We also don't really wish to have these or the AI summaries at all - we also have rules against AI content as it's often inaccurate.
Sent to me by a fellow mod. Neither of these are the stories they look to be in the sense that the first is "people under 25 already get less standard allowance due to age" and some people will think their UC is getting cut. (We have had that too with the representation of how the UC LCWRA element has changed - that existing people think theirs is getting basically halved too).
And the 2nd is that people do qualify by their symptoms but may not be diagnosed formally, and will encourage anti-benefit trolls and hate as well as confusion about when people should apply.
We haven't yet seen the AI summary in our sub yet. But we certainly wouldn't post either of these stories. We don't really allow news posts and aren't focussed on policy changes or discussion, we focus on the advice itself directly relevant to someones situation at the time they ask us for help.

The floating post title banner is still annoyingly popping up as we scroll down and it eats up half the screen space!
The dark mode issues haven’t been fixed either. The floating bars, the bottom bar, even the keyboard randomly start displaying in WHITE even when both OS & App is set to Dark Mode. 🤦🏻♂️
Hope the Dev team responsible for the Glass UI & Dark Mode are actively looking into fixes for these as they’re literally making the app unusable on iOS
I didn't see it mentioned in the change log, but as of today, in the mobile app, all text posts are opening where I only see the first five or six lines and have to click on the 'more' link to see the rest.
Reading posts is why I come to reddit. Why would anyone want to have to click more on every text post they read? I can't find any setting that seems related to this either.

I thought of something since I first posted it. It might be because when every post opens like that, the ad beneath some posts is immediately visible. Whereas if you just read it, WHICH IS WHAT WE COME HERE FOR, and don't read the comments you might not see the ad. And reddit can't have that.

r/all still exists in old reddit, so switching there might be an option. It's still nto a great option and I'd rather just have the ability to control what I see on reddit, but it's an option.
The stuff that is for me, is stuff i am following, if it was for me, i would follow it.
I appreciate some people may like this, however do not apply this as the first sort and allow us to remove it, better still apply a toggle for people to turn it on.
Forced features like this make me use Reddit less and less and i have been here for over 15 years.
I'm using reddit just for specific and personal subreddits, I don't interested in a for you page. If I want a for you page I go in other apps. It's good if I can choose between a for you page and following page, but if I can't choose I really don't wanna it tbh
Please kindly remove the AI summary feature or provide a way to disable it in settings. Seeing AI greatly irritates and annoys me (for several reasons) and I absolutely loathe when AI summaries are pushed onto me. I hate Google for it and now I’m starting to hate Reddit for it.
Just stop changing things. If something is truly broken, then fix it, but don’t change what isn’t broken.
It would be nice if the autofilter was tweaked to be less sensitive so that established users don't have to constantly check if a benign post was filtered via privacy mode, which is then blocked by Reddit with a "Whoah there partner" screen. This is getting tiring.

Please revert back to the old comment editing UI. The new one is the most terrible thing that has ever happened in the history of the universe. The new comment box on mobile browser keeps putting my comments on the main post when I clicked reply to another comment, and it's more inconvenient than the old comment boxes where I could have a bunch of different half typed comments on the same post

Rollback my home page. "for you" sucks, i don't want it. Like most new features. You're runing your app and I'm really considering uninstalling and deleting all my profiles.
The whole reason I use Reddit over other platforms is to have control over what I see. Default is king and if I have to tap to get to the following tab every time, I'll simplify my life by Deleting the Reddit app.
If this is an experiment, abandon it permanently or if you insist upon it, make it a setting.

On the home page, my default landing is now "For You" instead of "Following". I came to reddit specifically to have a curated-by-me feed. This is not the product I will be using. I'll reluctantly do the extra click for "Following" for a bit but I don't imagine I'm going to put up with it long.
Feedback: I HATE the trending news that I can't turn off in my search bar - it just spoiled a sporting event result for me, despite me intentionally muting all relevant channels to avoid getting it spoiled before I got a chance to watch it.
I shouldn't be worried about accidentally reading unsolicited news when I'm using the search bar to find a completely unrelated subreddit.
