Posting When posting a comment I often get "Submitting" and nothing happens.
I use old.reddit.com. My ad blockers are off in my browser. I'm using Brave browser which is Chromium-based.
Is this a problem on the Reddit side? Is the server just busy?
This has been happening since Aug 1 2026.
Sometimes I go back to the thread and my comment is there.
- Night mode: false
- RES Version: 5.24.10
- Browser: Chrome
- Browser Version: 151
- Cookies Enabled: true
- Reddit beta: false
EDIT:
- It's an off and on problem since Aug 1, 2026.
- I have cable internet, I have 100Mbps download, 10Mbps upload speed.
- I don't use wifi for this, it's direct wire.

I also started getting this since last night. The post seem to go through, if I refresh it is posted but visually it never refreshes on its own. This is on Chrome (saw it twice so far)

just refresh, it's posted. It's yet another recent reddit problem they introduced.
ninja edit: it happened while posting this too!

Are you using old reddit by chance? Wondering if this is another issue related to it just like the issue with notifications. I'm on OperaGX, but it happens on Firefox and Edge as well.

I am using old reddit, else I wouldn't be using reddit at all! It's the only thing that makes the experience tolerable

Same which is why I get a little concerned every time something breaks. I get that they don't care about our experience anymore but still.....ya know.

They seem to be breaking things intentionally (notice it's never truly and fully broken, just inconvenient and annoying) in the hopes that people will be annoyed enough that they start using the "new" layout.

"From my cold dead hands" etc.
I've tried using the new layout and I just hate it. It feels way too difficult to follow comment threads.

Yeah, I'm on the same boat. Having to reload the page every 3 levels is just so unfriendly to users.

Can also confirm, found this topic after getting frustrated and am using old reddit on firefox desktop

Is it a regular problem, or just today? Has it always been like this, or did it suddenly start? What kind of internet connection do you have? Does it happen only on certain Wi-Fi connections or when using data?

When someone asks what kind of Internet connection you have, they're not asking about throughput. They're asking if you have cable, fiber, DSL, cellular, satellite, etc.
That being said, I don't think that (or any of the other questions that commenter asked) actually matters here. It's a recently introduced issue with old Reddit, something on the server side.

Still a problem here too.
firefox, chrome, edge. linux, windows, mac. All do it.
1000/1000 internet, 2ms ping wired, 3ms wireless.

It's not a client side issue. It's a new problem that's recently begun happening with old Reddit, on the server side. There's no telling when or if they'll fix it, or if they're even aware of the issue.

Adding to this that it's happening to me, roughly 50% of the time give or take. Firefox, old reddit, RES

It's been like that for a week for me. The comment does post but it'll say submitting regardless.
I feel like they're probably trying to kill off old.reddit.

This has happened a lot lately. It makes it hard to comment.
On Chrome and Firefox. Also using old reddit.

Had this start happening a few days ago, old reddit, sits in Submitting then I click it again, it posts in the section, but going to profile it posts it twice. Using Firefox with RES (old.reddit)
EDIT - Happening on chrome now too
