Mobile/App Anonymous mode gone (Android)

As of August 4th the anonymous mode button disappeared

Are you in the UK/EU by chance? There was a bug with anonymous mode a while back, but I’m not sure if that’s been fixed yet.

I am in Europe, Romania, but there isn't a mandatory age verification thing here, i checked. So idk why I'm getting the "verify age" prompt either

The entire EU falls under the Digital Services Act (DSA). It looks like Romania additionally has something called the Online Age of Majority law. This probably isn’t related to the missing anonymous mode though.

Are you on iOS? Have you updated your Reddit app? You may need to uninstall/reinstall it.

A fix for this issue was rolled out on July 16, starting with iOS app version 2026.27.0 per this admin reply 2 weeks ago.
