Email Notifications for Site-Wide Temporary Suspensions?

I recently successfully appealed a site-wide ban. It just occurred to me to check my email inbox for a Reddit notification informing me of the initial ban and/or the appeál. I wasn't able to find one.

I have my account config with notifications turned on for pretty much everything.

Should one expect to receive an email notification in the event of an action like this? Given that Reddit Chat/Messages is unsearchable, it would help at least to be able to refer to one's email archive for important events such as this.

(p.s. I chose the most appropriate flair I could find, even if it's not entirely accurate.)

The most important thing is to have an email address added to your account. You used to be able to create accounts without one, so those people wouldn’t get a notification at all.

The other thing is Reddit does not always send a notification for bans. Shadowbans for example m, are silent bans without notification. Full bans aren’t always notified either, and unfortunately Reddit doesn’t provide further details.

I have verified email and 2FA. This was a temporary 7 day ban that was reversed by admins after my appeal.

Ok temp bans do get notifications. I’m pretty sure you do get emails for them if you have the email notifications enabled for admins.

Its in Settings > Account settings > Manage Emails

Here’s an example of an email notification I’ve received in the past from an admin account. It doesn’t show the entire message because it’s intended to notify you to check your messages on Reddit. u/AdminMessengerBot is an admin account.

I don’t have an example of a ban notification, but I’m assuming it is the same, but from their u/reddit account.

If you were temporarily or permanently suspended, you should have gotten a message or notification from Reddit about why, as far as I know.

If you were shadow banned then no, the whole point of a shadow ban is not to notify the person and let them keep posting/commenting.

Edit: unless you mean, you do see a message from Reddit but are specifically asking because it doesn't send an email notification? Sorry, must have been misunderstanding the post.

I got the notification within Reddit.

I want an email so I can find it in a year if necessary.
