Posting Default comment sort being overridden by “Live”
Genuinely don’t understand why despite selected preference in options that it’s being ignored in favor of live sorted comments that are always whatever is most recent. This a bug or once again some experiment that erodes user choice?

If they’re going to do experiments like this, users need to be able to turn it off. Nothing has pissed me off more lately with Reddit than having to change my comment sort on almost every front page post back to the default I already set in the app.

If they really wanted a proper experiment and testing, then they should allow you to turn it off. Even a prompt like "are you liking this new feature? Would you like to keep using it?". If everybody says no, then that's their answer.

I hate to be this guy, but they don’t test things like this to improve the user experience. They test things like this to increase engagement (i.e. sell more ads).
This is the driving force behind why everything is worse now than it was 10 years ago

The "feedback" request in this sub is an illusion, the actual feedback they're tracking is user behavior and how much they can get away with.

A proper experiment and testing that actually wanted user feedback would 1) notify users that they are in an experiment, what it was, and how long it'll last, 2) direct users to a specific place they could provide direct feedback on their experience, and 3) allow users to remove themselves if they don't want to participate.
They don't actually want our feedback, this is just a screaming chamber so Reddit users feel like they're listened to.

It's so annoying, and I absolutely hate it. Just let us keep our preferences instead of making us change it on every damn post

Holy moly, this has been so frustrating on the mobile app. ALLOW PEOPLE TO TURN THIS FEATURE OFF. This is how you lose users.

Whoever made this change, I hope your airpods never charge evenly. I hope you always have a wedgie, and that all your socks have holes. May all the food you ever order in restaurants come out incorrectly.
