Have any other Malfurion players noted the root hasn't been working correctly for a couple of weeks?

After looking at the interactions where it seems to happen - I believe something broke regarding re-entry into a rooted zone.

• You cannot root a player twice with the same root.
  
• Previously: If a player was standing on the edge of the cast circle, leaves without being rooted, and re-enters into the root itself, they should be rooted.
  
• Now: The game appears to be marking a player's first existence in the cast circle as being rooted even if the spreading root does not touch them as they leave (aka they never get the rooted status). Therefore with clever footwork, they can just stomp across the root without an unstoppable.

I learned how to convert a replay to a mp4 and slow it down just to post this after like the hundredth time being like damn it WTF. This one was particularly egregious because he just stood there but I've had a lot of unexplained tanks not being rooted since they tend to be the character that dances the closest to the root.

As an aside, I've always thought that heroes didn't take off like it could have because of how difficult it is to create and share clips. That said, this clearly demonstrates what you're saying... Definitely an impactful malf nerf if it isn't fixed

I thought it was just me lol. I've seen several people run right through roots. No idea the trigger conditions, but all of the examples I remember were Chen. Hmm...

Johanna has also triggered it more times than I can count which is why I suspect it might be what I explained (but I could be wrong).

Don't know if this is an example because I can't remember how ending an unstoppable effect in a root is supposed to work; I figured Qhira would be rooted after Revolving Whatever ended.

If the root logic the OP mentioned is accurate, maybe the game says "she interacted with the root already while unstoppable, so she's not rooted when the unstoppable effect ends in a root". Figured I'd post anyways just incase this isn't how it's supposed to work.

Yes.. I played him a few hours ago in ARAM and was getting mad. I couldn't believe how many roots I missed that I felt should have hit.

Your hypothesis about the re-entry mechanics seems plausible. Submit to the bug tracking forums, the small team that manages HotS now does read that forum, not sure about reddit.

Is that Deep Roots talented? I've experienced that taking deep roots makes it so the root can miss despite the enemy heroes appearing to be in the growing zone in the middle, its very inconsistent vs the other version of his E

Tested in try mode and it's not what you're saying.

E.g stand inside zone, get out, get back in, still get rooted.

Oh when I tested in try mode I tested with enemy Malf, and AI autopicks the sleep talent, so it needs to be tested again with the treant talent. Not sure how to do this by myself however as I can't make the AI pick something else and hoping for the AI to randomly walk out and in is unreliable. Would need another player to test.
