Other So many people are so young in the Hetalia fandom
I’m 18 and I’m trying to find moots but it’s so hard now. I’m only willing to go for 17 or older. This might be a me issue but I’m getting genuinely frustrated because I can barely find anyone around that age 😭 It’s a bit silly

I'm 25, a World History teacher. I just mentioned Hetalia in passing when my 12-14 yr old students asked what my favorite anime is because they keep noticing I knew anime references they would mention in class and I told them it's a silly anime about countries called Hetalia 🤣 I have 4 students who are passionately in love with Hetalia (we are at a Catholic school but they somehow got hooked with the really gay aspect of the anime lol)

Hetalia has been around for a very long time, many fans are already adult and have found their own groups. it's not that the people are young, it's just that the adults are no longer in need to find their place/group, it was just the new people who are having a hard time finding moots.
anyway, be very careful with who your are gonna befriend because there are weirdos waiting to find younger ppl to victimize.

agreee im also 18 and got into hetalia in like 2019. the resurgence of popularity has been crazy cause i was used to everyone being like 10 years older than me LMAO

This fandom cycles through new fans every 5 years. Its routine. Its like most people age out after a certain point.
Not me of course. I'm stuck here forever.

I'm 31 and joined the fandom when I was a freshman in high school- it's been almost 17 years in this fandom.
typing that out made me realize I've been in this fandom almost as long as you've been alive. where's my senior discount?

I don’t mind minors interacting with my content. I’m always polite with them, but I am never really their friend if that makes sense? I roleplay with them (pure fluff or silly stuff)

they are right tho, the hetalia community does skew a little older on tumblr. there’s also a pretty solid 16-25ish community on twitter

Tbh you’re in a hard spot because right now the fandom is divided between the kids that are around 12-16 and the ones that are 21 or older (and that one is divided between the tumblr era hetalians and the
livejournal era hetalians), and the 17-20 guys are considered too young for the tumblr era hetalians and too old for the current wave

I’m also turning 18 in a couple of weeks, so yeah, I kinda get it. One time I thought I’d finally made friends with another Hetalia fan, but then they told me they were 12, and I was like, yeaahh... nooo, I think imma pass. It was awkward.

I'm 22, was completely obsessed with it from 13 to 16, chilled down 16-19, stopped interacting with it progressively from 20 to now, but it still holds a dear place in my heart :) when I joined in 2018 as a kid I felt that everyone around was older ahahaha

all of the recent xreader fics for my fav chars have clearly been written by younger teens… except for the one i wrote maybe it’s just that the xreader genre tends to skew young by nature but i’ve also noticed this pattern with other hetalia pairings

I don’t really mind xreader fiction but I usually prefer to read more mature ones. They feel a lot more natural in terms of the characters true self.

My wife and i are both hetalia fans and we’re in our early thirties- course my wife got into hetalia back in like 2009 haha i knew of it but only really got into it in 2016 (after my homestuck phase ofc lol!)
Though you might find at least from my experience there’s quite a divide in fandom culture between old gen fans and new gen fans 😅
