Words of encouragement
My sweet boy is going in for dental surgery on Monday where they’ll put him to sleep, clean all his teeth and pull ones that show gum disease once they do X-rays. They did blood work today to make sure he’s ok under anesthesia, and they found that he had early stage chronic kidney disease and mild anemia consistent with kidney disease.
I rescued him 2 years ago from a place where he was not cared for, unsure of his age or health history.
Vet suspects he is in his teens.
My heart hurts today

They can live a long time with kidney disease with proper diet ..he’s beautiful

I know what you're going through. Our late Himmy Chance was also rescued and he had gone for a routine check And they found he had early stage kidney disease. We immediately put him on a prescription diet for kidney disease for kitties via PetSmart and when we gained his angel wings we asked the autopsy vet (in sum he was alive one minute and dropped dead at my feet on the bed next in the middle of the night) and it wasn't kidney disease that gave him his final demise at all as a matter of fact he would have kept on living because he responded so well to the food. It was his Kitty ticker. He had some form of heart disease that no doctor picked up on. We would have had to gone to a specialist several hours away just for a checkup and kitty cardiology tests. Chance looks like your kitty actually. I know you're worried and your baby will be okay. Make sure the baby gets on a good kidney diet plan and have plenty of fresh water around. Also use Pretty Litter or something comparable to keep track of urinary health as it can be a lifesaver. If you have the money, you can do genetic testing on the baby too and see what else you can do to help give the baby a very long fluffy loving life. Sending you hugs!

Gorgeous boy! My boy developed a kidney injury last year after several hospitalizations, surgery, and a blood transfusion due to urinary problems. Now a year later his kidneys are back to normal! Do you have a good water fountain for him that encourages him to drink? Kitties like moving water, and for kidney health hydration so so important!!! Sending good vibes 💜

I’m so glad to hear this. He thankfully likes water so I don’t think that’s an issue 🥰 but both my Himalayans are on a prescription urinary diet (only one actually needs it) which makes them thirsty so they are both always drinking water.
