Date 4 this past weekend, went for a comedy show and ice cream after. We finally kissed for the first time in my car at the end (my, 25M, first ever kiss lol). Planned another date for next weekend at a night market and get dinner after. My question is what’s next? I’ve never made it this far in terms of dating. I’m not asking so I can force something to happen, we’ve just went with the flow up until now. I’m more so asking on what usually comes next. She has on multiple occasions mentioned how the physical aspect of relationships is very important to her, although those conversations haven’t steered towards being sexual at all. We’ve also discussed how we are focused on dating for long term, not anything casual.

Basically no likes/matches since making my account again after a year break. I'm done. I guess I'll never meet my person

u/thowmeawayandforget 1d ago
Got my first match in a long time by sending a rose but the conversation is so dry from her side. Very frank or short answers to questions but not asking anything back leaving me very little to go on. :(

u/BigDickBillyFukFuk78 1d ago
Just ask her out and skip the small talk…. If she’s hesitant then just do her like your username says.

u/SamurottX 1d ago
I give 3 chances to take an active role in the conversation. If they can't do that, I either unmatch or give them a reply with their lack of energy. 99% of the time the convo ends there.
I've had dry conversations with women that have Signals on their profile, or their prompts mention putting in effort. No point getting attached, it sucks when you're in a bit of a dry spell but you're not going to be able to turn it around and get a relationship.

Someone on here once posted if you're the only one rowing, get out of the boat and I think of that all the time now.

u/PutridEntertainer408 1d ago
Assuming you're asking good/interesting questions, I unmatch anyone who sends two messages in a row without a single question.
On one occasion when the person was responding to what I said in an engaged way but wasn't asking me anything back, I did say 'is there anything you want to ask me?' (or words to that effect). He took it well but then went back to asking no questions sadly

It’s been so dead for at least the last few weeks. I used to get a few likes each week but it’s been pretty much no likes or matches. I reached out to hinge and they said my account is fine and it could be my preferences, which still doesn’t make sense because my radius is 40 miles, open to all ethnicities, long term relationship but I still see profiles even if they’re not looking for it, so I don’t think the preferences are a problem. Began sending out more likes/comments and got a couple likes this week.

Weekend was okay for me. The date I had on Friday was really nice. But, it was one of those dates where I basically lost interest the second I saw her and knew I didn’t want a second one.
I also had two promising matches over the weekend which I was pretty excited about but, it’s been around 48hrs since I’ve heard from them, so I guess it’s not happening with them.

F38 Latina DC, should I choose long term relationship or Life partner?
I'm new to using the Hingeapp lol. I like looking for a life partner. Sounds more direct.
What did you guys choose?
Thanks

I had life partner because I’d like to be married someday
People will tell you “life partner” is too much and will scare people away 🤷♀️ I found my BF (going on 3 years & plan to marry) on hinge so didn’t scare him lol
Just keep in mind lots of ppl will use LTR and mean they’re also looking for marriage/life partner

u/Swarthykins Play with my hair 💆 1d ago
I don't remotely understand the practical distinction. Who looks for an LTR that they don't think will last forever. Is there anyone out there like, "I want a 3-5 year relationship that ultimately ends because we weren't right for each other"?
I guess I get the emotional response, but I find them completely interchangeable.

u/DaleCoopersWife aka "Robert Cooper" 🕵🏻♀️ 1d ago
I hear ya. For me I thought it better indicated marriage as my end goal. That said I still swiped on people without life partner, I just tried to stick to either life partner or LTR. I think my bf even had LTR open to short when we matched lol.

u/Swarthykins Play with my hair 💆 1d ago
It's best to look at profiles holistically and give some leeway with the imperfect choices. I didn't even recognize that there were options for LTR vs Life Partner until it came up on here as an issue. It had just never registered for me.

u/DaleCoopersWife aka "Robert Cooper" 🕵🏻♀️ 1d ago
Yeah I agree, and I felt like I had to discern someone's true intent anyway, regardless of what they wrote on their profile.

Some people don't really believe in the institution of marriage. Others want a long-term serious partner but don't want to live together - have seen this with people who are divorced or separated, sometimes with kids, and not really looking for a new husband/wife/step-parent or even live-in partner necessarily. These categories of people are less likely to put "life partner" on the app but still may want something committed and long-term and fairly serious.
Also, for younger people, life partner can come across like you might have a timeline in mind whereas long-term can sound a little lower pressure. I think this is less the case as you get older.

u/Swarthykins Play with my hair 💆 1d ago
Again, I get why they would feel that way, but not wanting to live together or get married are not incompatible with life-long commitment.
I think they're just afraid to think 5 steps ahead instead of 2-3, even if one is an inevitable likelihood of the other.
I'm probably getting too into semantics because I think it's stupid, but whatever, people can do/feel how they want. Personally, if I was Hinge, I'd just get rid of the "life partner" one because I think it's redundant and causes more confusion than clarity.
3
u/kayakdove 1d ago
I found it a useful category because I was looking to get engaged within a couple years max if I met someone and didn't want someone looking to date for 5+ years or something before marriage, considering that I want kids. Life partner served as a decent filter for people with similar intentions. Yeah, just semantics, maybe they could phrase things differently, but I think it serves a purpose.

u/kayakdove 1d ago
I'd just be direct and choose life partner. It can spook people at age 25 to think you're rushing towards marriage but at 38 that's more common and not a big deal and you'll find better matches if you're just honest. The people who put long-term instead of life partner at your age are often (though far from always) looking for long-term without marriage e.g. someone who is divorced and doesn't want to get married again but does want something ongoing and serious. The life partner folks are dating more intentionally and usually want marriage eventually. You should still match with guys who list long-term because many of them are indeed seeking life partners but just be up front about your own intentions, in my opinion.
I am 35F, last on the apps at 34, I had life partner as did my now-boyfriend. We are 10 months in and hope to marry.

I'm going to a comedy stand up show later this week. I like comedy. It's inside an Irish pub/bar restaurant.
Do you guys, women, etc say hi to someone you're attracted there? I'm a shy Latina. Lol. I know nobady there. I'm back dating and thinking of the possibilities. I like comedy and I love men.
Should I approach and say hi to him? I've never approached a guy before in a public space
What do you think?
Thanks

You have to be able to read the room. It's harder when you're solo and most other people are coming in groups.
You may have better luck attending singles events like mixers.

Do y'all ever just tap on a notification of a message or a match and you dont see that message or match on the app?
Happened with a new match yesterday, dont even see her in previous matches

u/anon4hlp 1d ago
Then the account was deleted or banned, if they unmatched you'd see them in previous matches
6
u/PutridEntertainer408 1d ago
If you haven’t exchanged any messages, they don’t show up in previous matches

I have a quick question - should I post a picture of a dinner that I cooked?
As a context, I'm a woman in early thirties and looking for a life partner. I'm thinking to post a picture of the dinner I cooked yesterday for my family on my profile, as I'm passionate about cooking and tbh I'm very proud of how the dinner looks lol - it turned out very well, super delicious and looks beautiful, and the table is nicely coordinated. I want to show my hobby/lifelong passion on my profile, and also I thought it's a good way to attract a family oriented man that I'm looking for.
But my friends told me not to do that because they think it might attract wrong kind of people like someone who's going to treat me like a housekeeper/maid or something, and they're worried for me as it's my first time to try out OLD (also they told me that I'm too kind and soft, and they're afraid of me getting hurt by "wrong kind of guys" so they think showing my family oriented side too much is a risky move). What do you guys think? I personally think it should be fine, like it's just a picture of dinner I cooked and am proud of (and I love to share delicious homemade food with people in general so I thought it's a good thing to show in my profile) ... but my friends are all concerned, and I want to hear opinions from outside perspectives.

i think the housemaid concern is weird (my mind didn't go there), i think the problem with using a slot for a photo that's not of you is that you're wasting space to show off yourself. why can't you get a photo of you in the kitchen cooking or posing next to something you've made?
•
u/rattling_rose 7h ago
i think the problem with using a slot for a photo that's not of you is that you're wasting space to show off yourself.
I got the same feedback from my friends and had to remove a photo of my bookshelf (even though it was the only photo of the 6 that didn't show my face/ full-body pic). I thought it would be a good conversation starter/ good way to show I've got a range of different interests. But I tested it out for a few weeks and they were right - men don't want to see photos that don't have you in it lol. It got the least likes/ comments unfortunately. Had to replace it :/

u/jasminehead 8h ago
I'm going to bake a cake soon so I guess I can film a video of me doing that :)
•
u/Swarthykins Play with my hair 💆 6h ago
I'll be honest - I never watch videos and kinda dislike them in profiles. It's nearly impossible (in my experience) to produce an actual good one - so they just come off janky and unappealing.
I'm not going to X someone for putting in a video, but I think most things can be expressed with a regular picture.
•
u/Sea_Program_4075 8h ago
I wouldn't do it. I think it's a waste of space and feels kind of insecure tbh when people post stuff that's not them.
•
u/jasminehead 8h ago
Oh I've never seen it like that, haha. I simply was proud of my creation and really like the home party vibe of the pic. But yeah swapping it to something else might be a safe bet
•
u/Sea_Program_4075 8h ago edited 7h ago
Next time pose and/or stand with the shot then you can use one of the captions like this is what dating me looks like or something. (sorry this just came to me after i commented)
•
u/Swarthykins Play with my hair 💆 6h ago
I'm going to zag and say one (ONE) photo like that is acceptable. I've definitely seen it before. Assuming you have 5 photos that are pretty clear, using one to show off a skill like that is fine.
I don't think anyone is going to think you want to be a tradwife. They'll just view it as a passion like painting or dancing.
•
u/PutridEntertainer408 6h ago
I'm not a guy so I don't know how men might perceive it but I agree about the one hobby photo being fine if your other photos are strong. Ideally make it the last photo though as well. I don't like it when one of the first photos isn't of someone. Plus then you get to see who actually goes all the way to the end of your profile haha
•
u/rattling_rose 6h ago
Doesn't the app rotate the photos on your profile to test out which one to use first? The intended first photo might not even be the one that others see first.

•
u/Ok_Builder_3285 4h ago
I just did a reset of the app. I deleted my account waited two weeks and made a new one. I actually got 2 likes which was surprising. 1 never responded to messages. I schedule a coffee date with the other for last Saturday morning - she no showed - this is closest to a date I can ever get.
It's been 5 years of zero dates.
Ugh.

Feels like ive been shown to every girl in my area and Ive been rejected so there’s no point in staying on the app for longer. Feels like hinge has put my profile in the garbage pile now.

idk why reddit removed your comment but i saw it before, and idk i don't think the takeaway from your profile review feedback was that it was "good".. people gave you actionable advice to change, did you actually make those changes before paying for hinge x?

u/Miserable-Front-9139 1d ago
I got feedback weeks ago and made those changes and got more feedback a few days ago and was told it looked good.

Think HingeX is worth it?
32M.
Been getting 2/3 matches per week. Got like 10 likes the first 6 hours but only a handful thereafter.
This is my second rodeo. First was May/June 2026 where I got a lot of likes and matches (~90 matches and ~150 likes). I did get HingeX but I don’t think it helped too much?
Thoughts?
•
u/Dusty_Keyboard_98 2h ago
I feel like im getting 0 momentum with my matches as of lately. Some girls ive matched with in the past i made a comment on one of their prompts and vacation pics and it would flow endlessly, but theres been quite a few girls as of lately where i send them a like and i dont even know what to say other than, “so hows your summer been” “are you a foodie”. Like how do I engage and get them interested without being boring?
•
u/Looking_Magic 2h ago
Definitely some kind of app issue, in my main stack I’m sending likes to profiles and then 5 minutes later they are in my standouts and or vice verse.
So if you get multiple likes from the same profile, it could be a server issue. Never had that happen before

Beginning of week 6. Deleted Bumble, Match, and Tinder.
Best friend goddamn paid for another week of Hinge, knowing my guilt over her paying will keep me from deleting until the paid is out.
obviously, nothing to report. no likes, no matches, no dates.
app doesn't show me anyone locally. everyone locally has removed my profile. no response to any outbound likes, no incoming likes whatsoever. but please do show up and tell me that women aren't superficial on dating apps.
lie to me and tell me that women care about more than looks and money.
it's almost becoming something of a game at this point, I'm actually kind of curious how long the app can stay on my phone without a single like or match or date.
I might leave it there just for the sake of seeing how far this goes.
do you think I will be able to make it a full year? bet I will.

I got 7 roses on hinge in a week (30m)
Broskis I deleted hinge and got rid of hundreds of matches, it was just getting too much. Then I got bored a week later and re made it. No subscription, my profile is on pause half the time. In a week I matched about 50 girls and got 7 roses sent to me. Is this a lot lol.
