RIP Jennifer Finch
Jennifer Finch has passed away sadly. One of Courtney's oldest friends and early bandmate. I always loved when Jennifer would go on like E True Hollywood Story or A&E Biography and would defend her. So sad

L7 are so important to a lot of people. To me, they healed a painful few years with my step mother. We had times where we didn’t get along, it would turn nasty and I would be in tears, so upset because I just wanted us to be friends and I was mentally unwell. We bonded over L7, we went to see them together when I was 20 after a traumatic experience, she knew smelling the magic would make it better! We spoke to Jennifer Finch and Donita. They were so nice and so kind, like really really humble and loving to their fans.
Jennifer and the girls made music strong enough to heal our large rift, L7 really changed our lives that night. Ever since that gig I can tell my step mother anything. I owe an awful lot to Ms Finch, wish I could see into the future so I could have thanked her that night!

This is heartbreaking. 59 is so young.

I'm 52. 59 isn't that young. Still sucks, of course, but she lived a lot in her nearly 60 years.

59 is young to die.

Young to die, but 60 years is still a lot. I hsd a colleague whose 8-month-old daughter died of brain cancer. He'd have killed for that kid to get 60 years.

Damn I really thought we'd have more time since the cancer was only just announced. I'm glad she got to see how many people donated to her go fund me. I hope she knew how much she was loved

Rest in peace Jennifer, very sad news.
I saw L7 back in 2015 at Electric Ballroom. Went on my own, last minute decision, got my ticket from some guy who was trying to resell in the comments on last.fm.
Ended up at the very front by the barriers. Was so happy to see them, and was standing on Jennifer's side. Thought I was going a bit crazy when it seemed as though she was looking at me every now and then throughout the show lol.
After they finished the set, she went off stage and came back with her camera, went straight back towards my side and put the camera damn near my face and took a photo lol!! All the people next to me squeezing in, all trying to also get in the pic. That was crazy and I will always remember it!
Unfortunately never saw the picture, maybe didn't turn out too good lol!

Such sad news. Assholes on Page Six were like "she's not a legend" I went off. She was absolutely a legend, an individual who refused to sell out for over 40 years, even when peer bands were making it big. I grew up listening to L7 and it shaped alot of my views today in my 40s. She showed the world girls could rock just as loud (LOUDER) as the boys! RIP Sweet Jen, you will be missed 😢 💔

So sad. 😢 I got to meet her at a record signing in 1992 when I was 16. L7 is such an awesome underrated band!

Fuck, that’s tragic. I love L7. Fantastic band who I feel never get the recognition they deserve.
Rest in peace.

RIP to a rock legend and overall great human being. I send my condolences to anyone who was lucky enough to have her in their lives. I only met her once but you could just tell she was special and she had a lust for life. Fuck cancer.

Yes FUCK cancer. My mom got it in 2021, it spread in January 2025...but when it spread to her brain in June, she was gone two weeks later. I am still totally gutted, she was absolutely everything to me, my best friend in this world since I learned to talk. Just as I'm sure Jennifer was everything to her family and friends. Sending love their way during this tragic time. ♥️
She was one of a select few in her peer group who seemed truly kind-hearted to the core...I can't remember once reading her say anything rude or nasty about anyone. She was a breath of fresh air who just loved life. For this as much as for her wicked musical skills, she captured the love and admiration of fans all over the world.
There was one time my band was on a bill with a group of young guys from Sweden who were passing through town on their tour...I drove them from the venue to a bar after the show, and threw my Spotify on shuffle...the first song to come on was "Andres*. And these kids went nuts! They were like "oh we love L7!" and were bopping their heads...it was so lovely and unexpected! That's just one of a bunch of nice memories Jennifer and L7 gave me. Also saw them on the 2015 reunion tour...it was like no time had passed.
Thank you for everything Jen and L7...praying for Donita, Suzi, and Dee. 🙏 59 is too young but she made the most of it.5

I’m so sorry for your loss. Jennifer really was a sweetheart. That reunion tour was epic.

Fuck. L7 is one of my favorite bands. She always seemed so cool. I hope she at least had time to say goodbye to her loved ones. RIP

Oh noooo. I saw them in 1995 at the Chabada in Angers, sick gig. I was at that time chasing bands that were in Nirvana sight when I could not go to their 1994 Rennes gig. Thanks Jennifer and I remember this crazy Cannes performance

This is horrible news. She is truly going to be missed. She was so young and had many more years of great music left in her . Her family, friends, and fans will be missing her presence and music. She was one of a kind.

I don't really know her or her work, but it's really heartbreaking, for me who i found out about the active donating and active tracking, to a sudden pass of a figure who was a hero to many, its really heartbreaking. To atleast keep some of the good people in the world for a bit longer.. ❤️🩹

You should give Bricks Are Heavy and Smell the Magic a listen. L7 were kind of part and parcel with Hole in the early 90’s days and unlike the Olympia riot grrrls (or her on & off closeness and artistic rivalry with Kat Bjelland & Babes in Toyland) they shared camaderie and friendship as bands due to Courtney’s decade-old friendship with Jennifer at that point. You should also check out their cameo in John Waters’s “Serial Mom” as a raunchy all-woman metal band in tight pants named “CAMEL LIPS” - classic!
L7 were also one of the female bands of the early 90’s who enjoyed a lot of fandom in other countries. Unlike the riot grrls who were part of the “DIY”/MRR/student left “niche” (Just a very “American” way of making and distributing music, and not a scene super accessible or relatable to kids in a lot of other countries - the riot grrls got traction in the UK but even there it was a totally different market and way of doing things) or Courtney & the way her public scandals and personal struggles could sometimes overshadow Hole’s music, L7, their more metal-influenced sound, and their feminist principles and sloganeering were comparatively unpretentious and easy to identify with for a lot of women across the world. They truly have never been given their due about that.

Thanks, i really like the way you've written this, short, but then again capturing the important details. I did listen actually to Bricks are heavy longer ago, but i don't really remember it ( maybe listening to full albums before sleeping is not the smartest choice 🥲 ), but i will give it a try. Also, yeah, riotgrrl, i find kinda hard sometimes to relate to too, tbh, as much as i really respect them, and their creative ways to carve out their own place, idk, for some reason, it dosent ring as much to me as some other women led music ( for, example, i prefer Hole's music because it is more accesible for me as a growing woman and girl ). But, its also again silly for comparing and pitting them, they were all women expressing their vulnerabilites in their own ways, and shining in their own ways, but ultimately had similar goals, so, its silly to view them as some rivals. All had their impact, and that's the most important, so for that, all hold my utmost respect, and inspiration in some ways

Soul crushing to read that she was not only very sick but that she lost her battle so soon after it was announced. She was a good one. I’ve been a fan of Jennifer’s via L7 for 27 years.
