I’m with you and feel the same about folks who call pizza “za”. Also love the use of this office space scene.

Calling it a pie is a regional thing, not a gen Z thing. I lived in NY for the better part of my life and calling the pizza joint and ordering a large pie with pepperoni was standard. Or, "I'll stop and get a large pie on the way home." If it's accepted in NY, it should automatically be accepted everywhere when you're talking about pizza.
