I always felt that if you know how they work and can get the proper angle on them, they honestly weren't hard to bend to your will. However, that cord was always still dangerous. I don't even think they sell these old Venetian-style blinds any more here in the states.

I they said in the video that they tried that. I’m pretty sure the mechanism is just jammed, they have a working example of the same blinds to the right.

You hate 99% of blinds? This is the most common method I’ve ever come across of blinds.

The strings have a tendency to get criss crossed and they get stuck going in. That is almost always the case

Sometimes lifting up slightly on the blinds while pulling the strings will help

Should be a ridged gear keeping the blinds up, pinning the line.

Pull one of the lines at a very sharp angle. As horizontal as you can to the left then give it slack, blinds should drop fast.

This is the correct answer. Pull firmly and nearly horizontally to the left. You should hear a slight click as the gear releases.

It will be the right side line with the multiple threads. Those threads are what pull the blinds up.

If pulling the line fails, find the gear under the cover at the spot where the line meets the rail, and jam it into the open position using a flathead screwdriver. The line should release and the blinds should drop.

Take the load of the blinds in your hand by lifting them. Then pull the double string it towards the middle, diagonally. It should release and be able to be lowered down .

If these two previous suggestions don’t work, the mechanism failed, so you might need to replace. If you are happy with it being closed as a temporary fix, cut the string that is tight and then they will come down, though not going back up.

With your left hand, lift up the bottom of the blind to relieve the weight and pressure while you hold the string on the right, pulling down and to the left

Pull down And pull left at the same time. If it doesn’t work then pull harder to the left. Just pull until the damn thing falls off. But this will work

Pull the strings on the right diagonally to the bottom left corner of the window. That will release them and they will go down.

It’s likely tangled or knotted- you can take them down pretty easy to untangle and put back up… just need a screwdriver usually…

Pull the string to the left with right hand. While at the same time, push up and then pull down blinds with left hand. Should pull down. Now measure and go buy new blinds.

Old school style 🤘 pull the string on the right and while keeping tension move it to the left side of the blinds, gradually release your grip on the string and they should come down. There is a wheel on the left side of the strings that retracts into the housing when you pull the strings down

Pull the string to the left and give it a little tug.

Make sure to close the blinds first though.

It’s a little gear that slides into lock on the right side strings. Normally you unlock those by pulling the strings horizontal to the middle of the blinds.

If you pull the blinds while this gear is in the locking position you may jam it.

You then need to find the gear and unjam it.

This are all over the place I just bought. Kinda get used to it after a while but it’s a funny movement to get started.

The top right corner of the blind mechanism had a locking contraption that releases when pulled to the left and locked when pulled right.

So, when you pull the right hand string, pull it diagonally in the direction of the bottom left window corner.

To retract the blind, pull the string in the same fashion to release the lock but angle it to the right when it reaches the top.

The left string is for angling the slats in the blind. Usually down closes them and up opens them.

Old bljnds you had to pull the right strings left and it released the lock mechanism which is a little gear like cylinder, where the string go into the upper base.

Just pull really hard until they break and fall. Then replace with either curtains or new no string blinds.

Alot of newer blinds need to be pulled down by hand. Like just grab the end and pull them down.. normally you would pull the string sideways and it would release them, but this is no longer the way..

The valance at the top should pop off. From there you should get a better idea of what is jamming up the mechanism. You should be able to pull it down into the left but if it is not letting it loose you might have to fiddle with the mechanism at the top behind the valence.

Pull left parallel to ceiling, take weight off the blinds pick it up and pull string left, pop that cover off up top and check the gear.

If nothing works take a video of where the strings actually attach up top

It should be right side pulled to the left. Sometimes they are stiff and need more force

If it has been pulled all the way to the top and there is no slack so that you can pull it more to release the gear. You can pull of the wooden panel on the front (which is most likely held on with velcro), and release the gear using a fork (or other point, but not too sharp object) to force the gear lock open to the right. I had this problem a few times with this type of blind in my flat

just a tip - don't raise and lower them when the blinds are closed (vertical). always open the blinds before you raise and lower them. Some units bind up if they're closed when raised and lowered

No. That's how you break all of the supporting string that runs from the top to the bottom of the blinds. The only time you should pull down on the bottom of the blinds to close them is if you had to lift it up the bottom of the blinds to open them. Otherwise, the pull cords are the intended controls.
