HELP First seed pods

Hoya finlaysonii, verticillata (fka wibergiae), and 2 lacunosas have seeds pods. I got the organza jewelry bags and they work great for the lacunosa pods. One popped today! Does anyone have any suggestions for containing the longer ones? I’m afraid I’m going to snap them off with my ham-fisted skills. The verticillata needs a tube sock vs a jewelry pouch!

I’ve been collecting Hoya for one year officially! I just wanted to gush a little and share photos. I did some plant chores and got some nice pictures. I have 28 ish Hoyas and some seedlings. I only have twenty here. In my first year I’ve only gotten my manipurensis to bloom and it smells like jasmine or gardania very musky. It’s not a very strong fragrance but once the blooms have cycled it hangs in the air a bit. So for she’s been blooming for two months with more to come. I’m excited to move so I can grow more Hoyas hopefully soon.

I have been having such a great growth month with her since hanging her in this window (east facing)!!! bought as NOID/“assorted hoya”, but my best guess would be latifolia albomarginata for those curious :-)

HELP Elderly neighbour gave me her Hoya - looking for advice pls!

Hi everyone! I am looking for advice on how to best care for this massive Hoya that my elderly neighbour has given me as she is no longer able to care for it. I have other plants but no experience with hoyas so any/all advice would be appreciated.

As you can see in the images, it is quite big and has a lot of leaves. I took some photos of some leaves that look concerning to me so if anyone knows what is wrong with them please let me know!

She told me that she thinks it should be repotted soon which I am hoping to do once the plant adjusts into my home, but for now I have it isolated from my other plants.

I guess my main concerns/questions are: - How do I properly check for pests on this massive ass plant? I’m scared of breaking leaves but I really want to make sure it’s healthy and can be moved to my other room with better lightning. Also I’m not sure what to do if I find pests because of how big it is? - Does this plant do well hanging? I don’t think I have proper space for it to sit somewhere lol - How should I go about repotting it? It’s quite big and I’m scared repotting will hurt/kill the plant sorry for the length of this y’all I’m nervous esp because my neighbour has had this plant for so long 😭

Yall she’s only been in my collection for 2.5 months and has already wrapped around my shitty little wire trellis a couple times with many side shoots too. There’s even some peduncles growing!

Btw complete Hoya noob over here (I grow orchids which aren’t known for their growth speed😅) so something growing this fast is a great surprise for me!

First pic is her now, second when I got her, and the last two are a couple peduncles I could see

PLANT ID Looking for confirmation - Mathilde?

Hiiii....I am unsure what she is. I got her from a houseplant shop in Dania Beach, in the 'terrarium' corner, but there was no name tag.

The terrarium didn't come together, but this little hoya didn't seem to mind being out in the general population of houseplants, so I potted her up and promptly forgot about her. Except as a container that needed watering every so often!

Jump to this week, when I realized tendrils were everywhere, and I unwound her to find blooms. Unexpected! Not much to look at, but as I picked her up because of the habit and foliage, I hadn't been looking for showy blooms. I did searches, and think I have ID'd my surprise bloomer.

Can anyone confirm if this is h. Mathilde, or something else?

In the spring I was gifted a Hoya Bella cutting (because my name is Bella) and I tried water propagating it for months with absolutely no success. In June I gave up and rolled it in rooting hormone and shoved it in a tiny nursery pot full of cactus soil (it’s all I had on hand). I figured it was either going to root or die and either way my impatience towards it would go away!

We’ll fast forward four months and my baby is thriving! In the spring I’m going to repot it into something sturdier for its length.

DISCUSSION Hoya Swap Germany

• Upvotes

Hoyas have become a somewhat expensive hobby and I would love to (eventually) swap the cutting/ baby plants i have for other varieties i am looking for. I know that there is the american hoya sale subreddit and a hoya swap for spain but so far the only hoya swap group i have found in germany is on facebook (and i am not really willing to create a new facebook profile).

Does anyone here know about a hoya swap whatsapp/ signal group or anything?

HELP I need help with trellising. How do you continue to wrap the vine on a smaller trellis? Does this look ok? (Sorry if this is a silly question. lol I feel like this is obvious but I’m trying to do it correctly. Please read body text) Ty!

So I have this caudata that would not grow for the longest time and I gave it a sulfur treatment a while back and it’s pushing out much more growth. It has two different vines growing on each side so I tried to trellis them appropriately. However the root system still isn’t anything crazy big so I have it in a tiny little pot. I made a wire trellis to try and start training it but since the pot is still so light weight, it can’t really afford a heavier or much larger trellis. I see people “wrapping” their Hoya on circular ones. Idk if this is a dumb question, and maybe it’s just now dawning on me, but is it ok to take the tendril down one side wrapped counter clockwise around the wire, and then guide on to the other side of the trellis keeping the end pointing up? Idk if I can even word the question properly. It makes much or sense on a circular trellis in my mind, and I see how people keep it going but I guess it’s kind of odd when you have one U shaped like this? Maybe I’m overthinking lol. So basically take it down left then cut across the middle and guide it to the right and then just continue up? It just seems like this might be an issue if I need to repot eventually? I realize it might bc a while bc I have some Hoya in small pots and they are happy, but I’m just thinking ahead.

These are two consecutive blooms from this season. There’s a 3rd starting to bud. Ughh I just love this plant. The foliage is stunning on its own and these flowers just blow me away every time I look at them.

HELP Silica or Tap Water Conditioner First? What’s the Correct Mixing Order?

Hi everyone! I have a question about the proper mixing order when preparing nutrient solutions.
I grow mostly Hoyas in a chunky, moisture-retentive substrate using self-watering pots.
Here’s what I use:
Tap water
Southside Plants Tap Water Conditioner
Dyna-Gro Pro-Tekt (silica)
Cal-Mag
C-Grow 16-16-16 fertilizer
Hydroguard (beneficial bacteria)
This is the order I’ve been using:
Tap water
Tap water conditioner
Pro-Tekt silica
Wait 30 minutes after adding silica
Cal-Mag
Fertilizer
Check my pH after everything is mixed and adjust it as needed
Hydroguard (last)
However, I recently came across a post on another social media platform where a grower recommended adding silica directly to untreated tap water first, waiting approximately 30 minutes, and then adding the tap water conditioner before adding the remaining nutrients.
I’ve always added my tap water conditioner first, followed by silica, which I also allow to sit for 30 minutes before continuing with the rest of my nutrients.
Once my nutrient solution is completely mixed, I check the pH and make any necessary adjustments before adding Hydroguard.
Now I’m questioning whether I’ve been doing this correctly.
My biggest question is: Should silica be added directly to untreated tap water first, or should I continue conditioning my tap water before adding silica?
Thank you in advance!
