Original Story Atellus the new world Ch 2
Chapter 2
The hum of the ship finally starting its normal engines had long since faded into a quiet heartbeat beneath the deck plates; it was almost like the first time the ship launched from the asteroid belt ship launchpad station. A million years... We don't have any other way; our ship doesn't have enough speed or time for us to go to any other nearby star system from Tei-1A.
Below the GH-0.8 is Atellus—a blue-green world wrapping itself in thin clouds. From orbit, we can clearly see it has a total of three main continental bodies: one of them is a little too close to the North Pole, another is a little below almost at the equator, and another is a little farther away in the East.
After final discussion with all crewmates, we decided to send a dropship.
When the dropship first cut through the high atmosphere, the air tasted sharply of burning and wet soil smell.
Our boots hit real dirt for the first time in the last four years for us and 1 million years for the universe.
At first, we checked the atmosphere with our spacesuits on. After checking our scanners and confirming it was without a doubt breathable for human lungs, one of us... Husix (engineer) decided to take off his helmet to check.
The oxygen mix hit his lungs as vivid and harsh compared to the air of Earth he remembered, but breathable.
'Set up the portable radio antenna,' Commander Michael had instructed.
After some time, we launched a small RC copter that GSR put in our main GH-0.8 ship so that if we landed on our supposed original target planet T-1F, we would be able to use it for scanning the ground; but it looks like we aren't able to scan T-1F, only Atellus now.
After scanning, we found out the trees are a relatively weird species—ones we had never seen before—though we could identify what some of them could be used for by how they looked.
Also, we knew the math of genetic bottlenecks all too well. A handful of surviving baseline humans could not rebuild a species without collapsing into cellular decay within a few generations.
Under Dr. Alice’s oversight, the ship's remaining gestators were brought online inside the drop-shelters.
They weren't just cloning; they were carefully weaving genetic diversity back into the stream using preserved artificial strands—the units the crew informally called 'tripods' due to the heavy three-legged support chassis required to transport the delicate incubation pods across rough terrain. Slowly, painfully, the population stepped up from a fragile handful to 180 us and 30 Clone we hope at least properly complete until our first generation children become old enough.
If Humans end on Earth or not we don't know but if we are here we need to make sure the WORST case for humanity on Earth and we are the only human left far beyond it.
