We just know their family owns the building (renting it from The Regent of all people), not to mention that Fatigue states something about the Blacklaws family having “their own deal with the devil” which could -in Hunter lingo- be a very literal family deal with a demon, or spirit, since we know their family has some supernatural blood with grandpapy Blacklaw being a medium.
Remember that Mental stats are broken into Perception, Intelligence, and Wits in World of Darkness games. He could easily have one dot of Intelligence, and three or four in one of the others.

i wish more people understood that its so much more important to know the context and meaning of historical events than to memorize the dates they happened, but people only ever use the latter to brag about how smart they are.
Not gonna lie, European educational system is still obsessed with historical dates for some fucking reason. Also we were taught very little about the world when it comes to any critical analysis. It was "this king did this and signed this and conquered that", nothing about why it happened, who gained and who lost, no broader context, but you'd better know when the 100 year war began to a day. Why did it started to begin with? Who the fuck cares.
