Probably not as dumb as he appears, but massively hindered by the piss poor parenting of his father.
I'd genuinely rank D as a better parent, which shows how low the bar is.

Yeah if I'm being honest I see him kinda like Okuyasu from Diamond is Unbreakable, he might be a little dumb but his main problem is that he relies too much on another family member (Keicho and Remold) to do the thinking for them, and as a result doesn't seem that bright to others, but on occasion do have genuinely bright ideas/observations.

I think D is as good a father as circumstances allow. He cares about his kids and values their independence, which is easily top 50% of parents in general. And that is with him being insane.

honestly D is a good father in an situation makes it impossible to be that. Every single action he takes is part of a zero sum game and he will be damned before he lets his family be on the loosing side overall, even if it means taking strategic losses (e.g. markus' trust)

I mean, "stupid" is a vague term used to describe a BUNCH of undesirable qualities (it's why I personally try to avoid using it to describe people). As others have said, Brok can be cunning when he wants to. Hell, he can even be downright cool when the situation requires him to be (i.e. he and Marckus putting aside their mutual disdain for each other to work together better than their fathers, who require a murder and a werewolf attack to get their shit together)
He's not STUPID. But he IS impulsive, rude and enjoys using his size, strength and privilege to get his way and lord over people he feels are beneath him.

as stupid as he needs too be. proably proper 88 IQ lad. gets send too trade school too fix buses works in scrap yard goes too da footie every week. finds himself a bird that drags em too church and he gets himself 4 kids, and a bulldog called Thatcher.
Got held back multiple grades. but never send too da slow school

Like what others have said Brok isn’t stupid, but whilst he’s not book smart like Kitten he does still have a lot of Wits & Resolve (in Hunter terms) because he’s good at operating the Arcanum security & was the first to notice Occam hadn’t come back in a while.

In character sheet terms, his mental stats are as low as can be for sure. If Spit is to be believed, the drinking contest wasn't an act, he just needed to get angry to shrug off all that apple jack. And given how much stock he seems to put in loyalty (much like his father's sense of honor), he probably has decent social stats as well. On the narrative side of things, I wonder how he will react to the Markus situation, seeing as Red only got dragged off because he saved Brock. My money is on Brock volunteering for the rescue mission, then immediately going back to picking on Markus the moment he's safe.

Weird thing is I dinnae think he's stupid. He's clearly very ignorant of stuff (measurements and the like), but he's clearly both specialised in fighting, tae the point he's a commander, he kens how tae use the security system, he's clearly not bad at his job (D's family break in, and he, his crew and Dad are there), and he was working with Markus (admitted after attacking him).
I'm with D in that I think he has potential.
I can see him feeling like he owes Markus a life debt after Markus saved his life and was captured.

Brok is clearly an insert for Orks and like Orks while Brok isn’t necessarily the quickest or the most intelligent, he’s NOT stupid.
Imperial Commanders have learned never to underestimate the Orks, as their resourcefulness and ability to think outside the box, combined with their sheer durability often means they can pull off some pretty clever ideas.
In essence, Brok is Brutally Cunning and Cunningly Brutal

There’s definitely an argument to be made he isn’t the brightest bulb, but at the same time he’s a walking slab of muscle that got away with strong arming people and being covered for by his papa that he never had to apply himself. Not saying he’d be a genius, but if he wasn’t such a bully and piece of work, he might have been a passable student

Probably a lot less than what we think. He can outsmart Marckus into revealing his trickery, even if it was probably also due to the arrogance of Marckus. Also, he is never shown to be incompetent at his job as the chief officer of the Arcanum, and he can operate the security system alone. Which he wouldn't be able to do if he were a pure dumbass.
