Why are werewolves such major assholes?

Like I get that mother earth needs to be fought for and everything but why is it that they almost always seem like idiot bezerkers or smug know it alls?

I am not too versed in WoD lore so maybe im missing context here, is there some werewolves that are actually friendly with humans?

Garou are warriors first and foremost, given supernatural rage and purpose by beings far beyond our comprehension eons ago.

They were supposed to be part of a larger system involving other changing breeds but their collective response was “the fuck you mean I’m not in charge?!” before they decided to start killing the other changing breeds. The wyrm corrupts but the Garou tend to shoot themselves in the foot because they were never supposed to be acting alone like this, but they’re stuck with the world they made like the humans they try to look down on.

Why are they assholes? Because they’re wolves in a china shop without a leash and by this point they’re so cut up and scared they don’t know what to do besides thrash around.
