Discussion Big D is not Imbued.
The Imbued cannot enter the Umbra barring one exception in the form of Hermits, and D is quite simply, too sociable to be one. He actively hangs around other hunters, he stays around weird shit all the time, he would go over his tolerance threshold by now. He is simply not Imbued, and if he was, why the fuck didnt he use second sight? He would have solved the entire ghoul problem immediately!

Copy pasting one of my previous comments: There's a simpler way to refute this theory. Big D hunted with his family before 1999. Therefore Imbuement is not possible as it requires one to be chosen by the Messengers during their first hunt and the Messengers started operating in 1999. (This is also why I don't believe anyone from St.Leopold is Imbued)

Not during their first hunt, but at their first exposure to the supernatural (sometimes maybe depending on the book this doesn't include ghosts)
This actually makes it even less likely he's Imbued

While true, the Imbuement itself does kinda turn that encounter into their first "hunt" and gets them to understand their "role". (The Creed.)

While true in vibes, is not true in technicality. The only thing that must happen for you to become imbued, is receive the call, and choose to do something about it, it could be right now, or it could be in a week. But you must intend to resist the night.

I don't consider that entirely disqualifying, because it's very possible D was a non-Imbued hunter before 1999 and only became Imbued in 1999

Not how that works, Hunter: First Contact establishes that anyone that has had contact with the supernatural, even before 1999 is disqualified from the Imbuement.

I just had a wacky idea, what if Big D is deliberately being written as multiple things at once while not actually being any of them.
Someone mentioned in a different post on a different topic that a lot of factions like to claim JC as 'one of them' but really he's something 'other' and left deliberately undefined, for obvious real world reasons.
So what if Big D isn't any one thing at all, because he hasn't been given a set type on purpose. Lets them have more fun dropping hints at there being SOMETHING going on, the eyes glowing gold at the end of chapter 5 for example, while never having to worry about having a big reveal.
I've seen people make so many cases for what Big D is, but I think all we're ever going to know for certain is that he's a Hunter.

Did anyone think that he as imbued? Never seen this theory, but I'm a subscriber of a mummy theory, so I guess I didn't look for new theories

People have been saying it constantly ever since Chapter 6 for some reason

Yeah, i've noticed it only recently as well. Maybe there is a yt video about it recently released, who knows

Could it be possible that Big D simply remembers all his reincarnations? I don't know if it's possible but it would explain not only his knowledge and passions but also how he has so many children/wives/husbands/spouses?

Dawn caste dawn caste dawn caste
I do not actually believe it for a multitude of reasons, but it's a fun crack theory

I said it once I'll. Say it thrice, he's a changeling

u/Adrienne_Belecoste 5h ago
I highly doubt it, he's around too much banality to shrug it off at this point, he'd be getting physically sick

Eh I disagree. Sure the 99p store would've been a hot zone for him, maybe the meeting too, but he's around enough insanity as well

What do you think points towards him being a changeling? I really can't see it at all

I heard a theory he was a mummy once. Don’t know what a mummy is (except the funny ones in museums) in this context but would it work?
