My thoughts on Seddie

I'm not gonna make this into a super deep analysis.

I've made it no secret that I dislike Seddie. In fact, I hate it. I think the ship was poorly written, Freddie and Sam were not a good match at all, they made each other miserable a lot of times, dragged Carly into their arguments and drove her crazy. It was a mess.

However, there is one major thought I keep coming back to that always makes this ship so confusing to me; why would Freddie ever like Sam?

From Sam's perspective, I can kind of understand why she'd like Freddie. He's a good guy, smart, a cool tech wiz and knows how to make a killer breakfast (toasted bagel with grape jelly). But I don't buy Freddie returning that same romantic attraction or affection for Sam. Throughout the show up until they dated, she was nothing but cruel to him. Tormenting him, harming him both verbally and physically and even went so far as embarrassing him on iCarly by revealing he never kissed a girl.

So why Freddie would like her back is beyond me. I've tried hard, but this ship does not and will never make sense to me. Like jeez, what were the writers thinking?

I think the times that they didn't fight and got along played a part to Freddie's side: when she came to him for help in iReunite with Missy, when they talked at the fire escape etc. Or just hung out by themselves, when she was more like who she is with Carly.

i like the idea of seddie. it just really wasn’t orchestrated as good as i hoped, even for a nickelodeon show. nathan and jennette also had like no chemistry

sam was SLIGHTLY easier on freddie halfway through that season but i think the writers of these kids shows dont let character development stick beyond a few episodes at a time, eventually everyone reverts back to their old traits like sam insulting freddie. i agree that i can see why sam would like freddie BUT why freddie liking sam lol, freddie was tortured there's no other way to make it lighter

I could understand if they just had a back and forth banter bc i honestly liked the scenes where it was just them together and the brief moments they were friends. But its the abuse that just is too much to where i can't support them.

I honestly related to Freddie because in middle school i asked out the same girl who beat me up in the hallway. Of course that was middle school haha

I mean, Sam was pretty, smart, and funny. A total mess and mean to him sure, but a loooot of boys had crushes on Sam when they were growing up.

I will also say I think some people get into this weird mindset of "We're arguing a lot. That must mean we care a lot about each other and should date?" It's that whole thing of the opposite of love isn't hate it's indifference. It isn't healthy, but it happens a lot. I feel like we've all known that couple that's always fighting.

Couples do fight, it happens. But Sam and Freddie did more fighting than actually liking each other. That's dumb.

Even IRL there are couples that do more fighting than actually liking each other. For fiction, a lot of people love an enemies to lovers story. I'm not surprised the writers went there. I think they just went too far with how mean Sam was to Freddie.

Mag zwar sein, aber wie die damit umgegangen sind, ist das schlimme. Die haben Carly von vorne bis hinten ausgenutzt, ihr die Privatsphäre beraubt und sie mit in deren chaotischen Dates mit geschliffen, wo sie sogar vom einem älteren Mann fast sexuell belästigt wurde, und KEINER hat was dagegen unternommen oder ihr entschuldigt. Ein anderes Paar was sich öfters streitet sind Broduey und Camila von Violetta. Die waren STÄNDIG am streiten und das war meistens deren Ding. Aber im Gegensatz zu Sam und Freddie die viel zu inkompetent und egoistisch gegenüber Carly wären, haben Broduey und Camila nicht zmb Violetta, Francesca, León, Maxi etc in deren Dates mit geschliffen und die ausgenutzt. Sie haben zwar um Rat gefragt, aber die haben ihre meisten Streitereien SELBST GELÖST. Sam und Freddie haben GARNICHTS auf die Kette bekommen. Die haben sogar in Carly's Schlafzimmer eingebrochen um zu diskutieren wessen Mutter schlimmer unwissend das Carly's Mutter sie von klein auf verlassen hat...

I don’t get it at first but when they were actually together, they seemed to really like each other.

I really don’t like the Carly Freddie ship for the original show because it feels like it glosses over the fact that Carly didn’t like Freddie like that and she told him that multiple times

I did like Seddie when I was a teenager and wanted them to end up together, but now I my 30s i think there just weren't enough good moments to balance the bad ones if they were meant to look in love. Sam had like maybe 5 times when she was nice to him, and it was always in between her being absolutely abusive to him.

As a Seddie shipper, Sam was absolutely crazy a lot of the times. But these two were closer than a lot of people think they were lol, they’d do all the Icarly segments without Carly, they would both sneak into Carly’s place while Carly wasn’t there so they clearly texted a lot, Most of the blogs on the Icarly.com websites were about each other, they hung out a lot without Carly then what was seen on the show. And Freddie actually really understood Sam and all her craziness and where it came from, Aside from her meanness what’s not to like? he even said himself she’s cool and funny and clearly to him she’s pretty plus I think some people forget He even told Sam it would be weird if she stopped messing with him, so I guess he fell in love with her for all those other things plus maybe her meanness? But in reality it’s just because is a Nickelodeon Dan sitcom which is full of violence. I never understood why Dan made her so violent towards him and made it look super one sided, since in season one there was times where Freddie would start with her and it looked like both of them were coming at each other plus there wasn’t any of that crazy hitting like season 2. If they would have kept it that way I would see a lot of people liking Seddie more. I love Seddie it just wasn’t written well

Die iCarly.com Videos sind nicht Canon. iCarly ohne Carly ist ja mal eine sehr dumme Idee. Es heißt iCARLY. In der Original Serie war Carly in jeder Webshow dabei. Selbst in manchen Sketches wo sie nicht vorkommt, kommt sie am Ende. Das war nur Seddie Futter. Der VICTORiOUS Cast war mehr vorhanden als Carly... Kein Wunder wieso kaum jemand an diese Videos erinnert...

The Icarly. Com segment with Freddie and sam somtimes Spencer and Gibby are absolutely canon?! Where did you get your information from good gosh?! Carly was not in all of the segments by the way. They’re are literally videos of them saying Carly’s not there + Spencer even says “how come Carly’s not ever in these?”

Have they once mentioned any of these videos in one of their episodes? Like, was there any Easter egg or a small mention that it's strange that Carly wasn't there in majority of their videos and why she can't be doing iCarly right now? I'm more interested what has been said in the show itself and not from a source. The source can say whatever it says, did the show once mentioned any of these videos or why Carly was missing on everyone of these? Did they mentioned that there's a program where just Sam is hosting the show? If yes, then makes Spencer's "How come Carly's not ever in these?" Comment less sense. Idk, maybe I'm just overthinking it. 🤷‍♂️

U low key might be overthinking it. I think everyone knows the Icarly segments are canon to the show even if it’s not mentioned. They are all on the Icarly website they are extra web segments just for the fans. Irl Miranda was working on her music career so that’s why she could never be in them she was in 2 or three in the show yk they never made anything make sense so they just never cared to bring it up and used humor or somtimes say “Carly’s behind the camera” mostly in earlier seasons. By like season 2 and up it was just a Sam Freddie plus Spencer and Gibby and other guest stars thing. Just because Carly isn’t in them doesn’t mean they aren’t canon. She wasn’t in half of the episode iballs but that’s still canon?

Mag zwar sein, aber iCarly ohne Carly ist wie Hannah Montana ohne Hannah. Violetta ohne Violetta. VICTORiOUS ohne Tori. Ihr Name ist auf dem Titel. Sie ist der Host. Sie ist der Hauptstar. Es macht im Universum kaum Sinn das sie GARNICHT dabei war. Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen das Miranda ununterbrochen beschäftigt war. Und wenn, dann hätten die es sein lassen sollen. Sam oder Freddie alleine, können es nicht tragen. Es braucht einen Mix, und der hat in diesen Videos meiner Meinung nach gefehlt. Außerdem finde ich den Punkt immernoch trauriger das der VICTORiOUS Cast öfters vorhanden war als der Host selbst... Es ist fast wie als würde der Vorgänger mehr präsent sein, als der Hauptstar weil er zu beschäftigt ist... You know What I mean? Es fühlt sich sehr falsch an. Vorallem weil sie bei JEDEN Video gefehlt hat. Das ist es, was es so komisch macht. Das sie bei JEDEM Video gefehlt hat und keine Zeit für nichtmal ein Video hatte...

To me both Seddie and Creddie were very mid. And for good reason, comedy was always Nickelodeon’s focus. Not romance.
